I read "Give a Boy a Gun" in middle school. It's sort of mashes up the events leading up to/the day of the shooting from various interviews from students, teachers, family members, and survivors. 100% recommend it, to be able to really get an understanding of the events from those affected (instead of some weirdo that idolized them). EDIT: Shit, okay, I looked it up again and it is a fictional story about a school shooting. The author even started researching it pre-Columbine (however, it was published afterwards). It's a good book, but I read it when I was like 12 so it could very well be cringy as hell. Sorry for the bad intel though..
I'll have to check this out. LT Colonel Dave Grossman has some really interesting books on mass shootings and ptsd also. Saw him speak about 12 years ago about Columbine and his book "terror at beslan." Really interesting stuff.

I don't understand people who idolize the columbine shooters, but I still think that they were the victims of that situation. They committed an act of unnecessary evil and most of their victims were innocents who did not deserve what happened to them- but, at the same time, they were HORRENDOUSLY abused by a bunch of sociopathic assholes and the teachers did not do their duty to protect them. Had they only killed the abusers and the negligent teachers then they would not have done anything wrong.
They were bullied but that definitely wasn’t the main cause. Since Columbine was planned as a bombing, they planted two propane bombs inside the cafeteria. The intent of these bombs was to knock out the supporting pillars in the cafeteria and effectively collapse the entire library onto the cafeteria, killing over 400 students. They were also planning to stand outside the school from a distance, and gun down anyone who survived the bombing. They even said in their, tapes that their friends could “have anything from their room, if they survive.” Meaning that they were probably expecting people they liked to die too. Since they were teenagers and poor bomb makers, as you can imagine the Bombs failed, and they had to resort to only their firearms. The attack was about pure violence, and either one of them still had a lot of potential to be violent even if they never met each other, judging from their writings.
