That’s how I feel, I’ve stopped reading the replies on Twitter or IG from accounts like Fandom/IGN/Vanity Fair etc.... because people just say shit that I’m just like man if you don’t like the movie then don’t go watch it - leave Zack & the people who are excited be excited. I for one am HYPED!!!!!!!!!!!!! for this movie!

Also the Vanity Fair article quoted a film journalist about Snyder fans' toxicity. Later on, I found a tweet on twitter, in which that same film journalist had tweeted some pretty toxic things about Snyder. I wish the article took a moment to highlight that as well, because although I don't condone this behavior by fellow fans, some of these film journalists/bloggers have been as toxic as well.

I really don't get this mindset where you torture yourself by looking or reading about things you hate and fueling that feeling further.

Snyder fans picked a fight with Rahul Kohli the other day because they found a picture of him with Joss Whedon at an event from 2016, before anyone knew anything bad about him. And despite the fact that Kohli is a Snyder fan. There are some real dick heads in the fandom and we should stop deflecting that.

Man, on another site, I had typed a comment saying that it’s hilarious that Nolan told Zack not to watch JL, and this dude gonna reply that Deborah was lying. That the “Snyders are liars, and Nolan absolutely doesn’t like Zack’s work because it goes against everything he stands for”.

Well said. My sentiments exactly. Though I'm sure the comments responding to him are quite ugly. I said something along the same lines once in a forum. Won't be doing that again.

There are toxic people in any fandom. Anybody who says certain parts of snyder’s fandom aren’t toxic are kidding themselves.

Throwing in my two cents because this comment section is filled with Snyder fans are toxic/Snyder fans are not toxic and Snyder haters are toxic/Snyder haters are not toxic. What we have here people, is both sides unable to accept the truth. All of the above are true and it is possible for that to be that way. What matters is the majority. I would say confidently that the majority of Snyder fans and pushers of this movement are friendly and decent people who fought for something that was fair and needed to be seen. The majority of fans raised over half a million for suicide prevention. The minority of fans attacked deniers and threw around threats and were as toxic as a star Wars fanbase. But that wasn't the majority. Anyone who says it was the majority are the same assholes who probably labeled every peaceful protest of 2020 as a riot because a minority looted some stores. What I will say is this: there is more evidence to suggest that Snyder haters and the deniers could be argued that the majority of them are indeed toxic, and the minority are those who went huh, that's cool the cut got released, I won't watch it because I have no interest but that's fine. The majority is more vocal on this side and are also more toxic. Whereas the vocal majority of the Snyder Cut have been nothing but enthusiastic and not much else. That's the difference.

IGN, like most other Internet forums, are full of self-righteous and pretentious jerks who think they are experts in fine cinema. Everything, and I mean everything, Zack does is "edgy" or "edgelord" and he's a "hack." Many on this forum and the DC Comics sub think the same. I've seen people wish death upon Zack and his family, make fun of Autumn, lambast the entire Zack fandom as neckbearded morons, etc. and yet we're the toxic ones. Yes, there's bad apples everywhere. BUT, most in the Snyder Cut have disavowed the bad elements of the Snyder Cut fandom (and I'll do so again here) and they're truly a minority. They're just loud. I can't say the same thing about most anti-Snyder and anti-Snyder cut people - most of them are downright hateful souls who have been hellbent on ruining the truth coming out about JL, WB, Zack, Whedon, etc. ​ The movie is coming out - watch it or don't, no one is forcing anyone to do anything and that's the most important part. Regardless, however, it's a big moment for DC fandom and I wish people would just look at it as a proper sendoff and closure to Zack's original plans (as far as he's been allowed to take them).

There are definitely toxic people out there that hate Snyder and criticize/attack him instead of talking about the films he makes. These people are in the wrong. If you don’t like Snyder’s films (I’m not a fan of everything he’s done) than feel free to discuss why you disliked it or how it could’ve been better. Don’t attack him or his personal life. Just because you feel like he’s made a bad movie does not make him a bad person. However let’s not pretend like toxic Snyder fans don’t exist because they do. I’ve seen “fans” of Snyder attack people for having negative opinions on the art he makes, I’ve seen Snyder “fans” maliciously attack/disrespect filmmakers because their style/tone is different than Snyder’s, and I’ve seen Snyder “fans” say extremely awful things about actors that used to play certain roles (ex. Superman, Batman, etc) because their portrayal was so different. There’s toxicity on both sides. Pretending like there isn’t only makes things worse.

Are Snyder fans toxic? Sure they are. Any fandom would seem toxic if a large amount of bullies showed up every day criticizing their passion. It’s fine if you don’t like it. Just move on and let people enjoy something. I have yet seen any DC or Snyder fans trying to pick a fight with haters, it’s always the other way around....

I think part of the problem might be the relative size of the Snyder Fandom. Using the reddit subs as a really rough gauge of fandom size, the MCU sub has 1.2 million more users, the Stars Wars sub 1.6 million more (bearing in mind that many on this sub are not Snyder fans per sei). The toxic actions of a minority of fans tend to stick out more in the smaller fandoms then the larger ones, like weeds stick out more when in a smaller garden.

I never participated in being hateful or say terrible stuff to people who say terrible things about Zack or his movies but it gets annoying af to be told all the time that his movies are bad and that I'm not a real DC fan or that I don't understand the characters. Like I want to say fuck you. I grew up with these characters and I do enjoy thinking about them in different ways. These movies work on me as much as the animated series or Grant Morrison comics. It's this constant bombardment of "you are wrong for loving this" that gets frustrating when you just want to vibe. I shouldn't have to avoid certain places or even avoid making friends who like DC because of it. That's fucked up.

We're still on this "Snyder's fandom isn't toxic, it's just the haters" narrative? People can pull the "Every fandom has toxic memers", "But the haters tho", "They donate to charity" excuse all they want, it really doesn't erase that there's A LOT of horrible fucking people in Zack's fandom. And yes, Zack has haters that are toxic af too, that's not a defense either.

Things like this are why I don't use Twitter. It is such a toxic website.

All I've seen on social media is people bagging him and the Snyder Cut out. I've seen very few people being toxic about wanting the movie out. So many posts saying "LOL they think it's gonna fix the DCEU" and "Snyder fanboys will watch anything he puts out even though he can't make good movies". Like, bruh, we know it's a standalone thing. I personally like Zack's stuff, and I like Batman, so I'm gonna watch it. No one is forcing people who don't want to watch it, to watch it. Can't have nice things.

While I agree and it would have been nice that those articles mention the "antisnyder" toxic groups, some "snyder bros" were toxic. Don't get me wrong, if you got a community large enough there will be some toxic a holes, it's unavoidable, but those communities, be the snydercut or any fanbase for that matter, need to be relentless and not only adress the issue but not give those people a space in that community.
