Orange deck of playing cards cut into a 3D design using just an xacto knife. This is the most detailed cut of a deck of playing cards I have done so far.
These are amazing, but I am super curious about the process. Do you have any videos of the work that goes into these? I mean, I have some Xacto blades at home and have done some small trim jobs, but I can't imagine getting those incredibly fine lines and detailed cuts. I'm guessing you use some specialized blades, maybe? How forgiving is the process of small miscuts? I imagine myself getting about 3 cards into cutting one of these decks and just destroying the rest in frustration. Crazy impressive skills!
Back when I was doing a lot more modelmaking, I learned that you can sharpen a normal xacto#11 blade to be far more sharp than they come from the factory.
And once you learn how, you can keep them that sharp with very little effort.
It’s not like he started yesterday, gotta change up that attitude and pick it back up. Keep trying and don’t try to match others work or meet expectations, you do you
I collect bicycle playing cards I have over 300 different decks ranging from your run of the mill average deck of cards to more exotic decks including gaff decks it all started because I was really into start magic for a few years and after i had a falling out with my magic partner I just keep collecting cards ...... Then i cut off my finger by accident and start magic was impossible at that point
So here take the upvote and the award these are beautiful
I love this, but would also love to be assured each day I see this reposted that it’s posted by the person that actually did it. I’m too lazy to check, but I’m assuming the person that did it hasn’t been the one that’s posted it the 30 something times I’ve seen it.
I have a huge collection of magic the gathering tokens I was thinking of doing something similar. have you ever done this with a dremel? do you think it would work as well?
Also, this is awesome!
Wow kudos friend if I could afford some I'd buy some , that's amazing craftsmanship . Bet your parents were like WTF you doing to my card's?? And you didn't even know it was your calling...
Hi, non-native english speaker here. I always thought it was spelled an exact-o-knife because it cuts *exactly* where you want to cut. Now I know I'm stupid
"When I said cut the deck, I didn't mean... You know what? I like this better."
Beat me to it, also agreed
With a fucking xacto!? Amazing work!
Thanks you can see some more weird stuff here. https://imgur.com/user/DoctorPaulGregory/posts
Dude this is freakin amazing!! Do you happen to sell these? And if so, you mind me asking how much something like this would cost?
https://www.etsy.com/shop/Agombie
Wow that’s awesome
Thanks! I got more here if your into this kind of thing. https://imgur.com/user/DoctorPaulGregory/posts
I never imagined I’d think a deck of playing cards was beautiful, but... Nice work!
Thanks it means a lot that people like them!

This is absolute dog shit. Can't even play poker with these cards! . . . . /s
You’re Insane.
> So you’re happy that’s scary dude
That amazing.
Is it possible to learn this power?
You could probably sell art like that for mucho dinero.
I Do https://www.etsy.com/shop/Agombie
You gotta be bullshitting us...there’s no way. God damn that’s the most impressive thing I think I’ve seen all year.
Nice work. Now I want to try but it will never look as perfect as your work

Wow! This is amazing and your other work is fantastic as well. How many tens of hours or hundreds did it take?
How many blades (and which kind) does it take to do something like this? I'm looking for a new hobby.

Have a nice day

Just bought the blue one, love it!
OMG thanks for supporting me it really means a lot!

First time I posted this version. Here is the rest of my stuff. https://imgur.com/user/DoctorPaulGregory/posts Rest assured it is mine.
Damn, that’s intricate!
Absolutely beautiful!
Orange...did you mean ordinary? Amazing job!!!!
Oh no they are orange!
Best thing I've seen all day.
Thanks!
This is really cool
That's some hard work right there 👍
That is insane
Beautiful
Doesn’t that make them hard to shuffle?
And that's the last time they were asked to cut the cards..
This is incredible! Keep up the good work
Stunning work OP!
Thanks!
Awesome!
How
I want one.
https://www.etsy.com/shop/Agombie
Most of the time they are sold out.
I have a huge collection of magic the gathering tokens I was thinking of doing something similar. have you ever done this with a dremel? do you think it would work as well? Also, this is awesome!
Dremel would not work. I have done several MTG tokens some that you can see here. https://imgur.com/user/DoctorPaulGregory/posts
😮
I’m mildly impressed.
damn you really take it seriously when someone asks you to "cut the deck" nice job man
That’s gotta take a lot of patience and calmness. If you can do that with an exacto knife You have achieved zen master status in the process
eat it
My dumb ass was about to ask if the deck was still playable
Wow kudos friend if I could afford some I'd buy some , that's amazing craftsmanship . Bet your parents were like WTF you doing to my card's?? And you didn't even know it was your calling...
....I suddenly want to do that too. How do you keep them in alignment, good box?
I got some mild asmr out of that, thanks.
Move it slower you slut!
Meanwhile I’m stoked to draw or paint and I show up with ... utter shit
You should do some how-to's or tutotrials!
I want orange cards!
Wow. That is precision work.
Would love to see a video while you work.
I got a few on my channel but I feel like the content would be boring to others. Also the time spent making videos is time not spent doing art.
Now shuffle it
Would have been cooler if this was just an optical illusion and the cards were all still intact Still nice work though.
how many times did you change the blade?
close to 20.
Nice
Exactly what every deck of cards ends up looking like to me, after a couple games of Kings.
sick
Are you a Doctor of Patience?
Do you cut each card individually then stack them up and clean it up or cut them down as a stack?
Each one individual.
Given the thickness of quality cards, I wonder if anyone's done a mechanised thing like this, kind of like a watch or almost 2D animatronic.
There are people who do mechanical items with paper.
What is impressive is the lack of cuts on your fingers.
Yeah I still get cut. Most of the time its just puncture wounds.
It's exactly what you said in the title and I still clicked the link. Audible "huh."
Hi, non-native english speaker here. I always thought it was spelled an exact-o-knife because it cuts *exactly* where you want to cut. Now I know I'm stupid
That is why it’s named what it is.
You might like r/3Dplayingcardsart
Damn, that’s interesting.
Bruh if it’s not a hassle could you please please pleasssse explain how you do those
Thats an amazing amount of patience right there!
Nice work
Thanks!
Amazing work, just followed your shop on etsy, looking to get this soon
I just ordered one from you on Etsy. Bad ass! Can't wait to get it.
[deleted]
I use to LOL. Now its old and cramped up.
That would take me 3 years and would look like shit.
This belongs on r/nextfuckinglevel !!!
Very very nice, awesome job...I think would be even cooler with an oversized deck
I have seen those and will have to try it out.
An.... xacto knife...? You did that with an xacto knife?? Wow you're brilliantly talented my god
Thanks!
Wait, bicycle cards come in orange? I've only seen blue and red
Yeah I was surprised also. I have a stack next to me that is gold, blue foil, silver, fuchsia, yellow, and teal
This is so badass. I love shadowbox art (and any sort of 3D paper art, really) How long did this take?
Check out the rest of them. https://imgur.com/user/DoctorPaulGregory/posts
Yes we've all seen these. They're all identical.
There not identical. I improved the 3D design on this one. ALong with a better designed case.
I may just have to give this a go. Epic!!!
Been keeping track of your posts. I actually bought a few ritzy looking decks of cards to try my hand it this level of detail. Looks like fun.
Nice hope they turn out well.
Wow
This looks great, it must have taken a long time to do!
Are we going to play Poker or not?
Poor Bycicle card decks can't get a break man. Looks cool though.
Absolutely amazing yet utterly useless
LOL like most Art.
Fun fact bro. Those decks should start at 200 pounds. Just saying. That’s what I’d spend. I don’t have a place for it right now though.
Incan only imagine how many times you had to re sharpen your blade
Zero I just get a new blade. I use about 20 of them.
Now shuffle them
How might I get my hands on one of these?
https://www.etsy.com/shop/Agombie
If there are any left.
Wow! That’s awesome. Can I ask how long it took?
I wonder if I could do this with my silhouette cutter?
If you havent yet, consider sharing some future works over to r/playingcards, It's a smaller subreddit but we love this kind of stuff. Amazing work!
4.99 on wish
How long on average does it take to complete a carving like that?
This is incredible. Do you cut each card individually or cut the entire deck in one go. I'm guessing one at a time with the intricate cuts.
