How do other regular guardians view The Guardian in lore?
I mean, if I was a regular guardian taking tasks for the Vanguard and knew of one lone 7 year-ish old Guardian who doesn't speak a single word 99% of the time and already has an unbelievably long list of feats and triumphs (including being one of the very first lightbearers to wield Stasis), close to many legendary Guardians /ex-Guardians like Saint-14, Zavala, Ikora, Cayde-6, Saladin, Eris Morn and Osiris, who likes to anonimously join fireteams in strikes to absolutely obliterate everything in his/her way
I would be pretty much fucking terrified.
I would be pretty much fucking terrified.

Imagine this- you're an guardian who's heard of the young wolf and all thier feats, being similar in age. You like to keep to yourself, patrolling the cosmodrome for new lights in your blue gear and legendary hakke auto rifle. Suddenly, a man clad in ahamkara bones and other heinous completely dangerous and absolutely not vanguard-sanctioned gear rides his flaming sparrow off a nearby cliff and is brought back by their ghost who is wearing... a cat costume? They look you up and down, spontaneously ring out a few hits on a holographic cowbell, and proceed to nuke a distant group of dregs with what looked like a missile silo with eyes, followed by three warmind detonations, knocking you off your feet and ringing your ears so loud you may have gone deaf for a minute. "What the fuck, man?" "..." "What's your tag?" The man says nothing His ghost chimes in "That was the last solar kill. Sorry for the collateral damage to your post here, he got a new toy recently" And just like that, he leaves as quickly as he came and you decide it must have been an ancient diety come to pass divine judgement on those dregs.
_"Bright dust is one helluvah drug"_ - The Guardian, probably
Imagine you're a casual player and you load into a strike with speedrunners. Or you're a casual player and you load into the Crucible at all. Or you're a casual player in Gambit and you hear "invader incoming!" Regular guardians probably hate That One and complain to Zavala to nerf them.
As a casual player, this is actually helpful. Next time, instead of lamenting my .44 k/d and lack of skill, I’ll just role play being a regular schmuck Guardian, watching myself.
Handy.
Imagine how Shaw Han feels
Probably a blueberry, he has like one last wish armor piece and he sees a guardian decked out in raid/trials/exotic gear and probably shits the bed. I bet he feels like a chump.
I’m a casual player cause college so I might have a different view, but I never see myself as “THE GUARDIAN” but instead I’m just another guardian in the tower. So they probably see the guardian the way I see the crazy good devoted players that have all the titles unlocked. A fair amount of respect for their skill, but a lot of questions about mental health and how much free time they have
Makes sense, actually

You might want to discontinue that last trend you mentioned...
Just thought I might correct you. We weren’t the first lightbearer to wield stasis. in our timeline that would be the drifter.
I think he meant we were the first guardian because drifter does not consider himself a guardian.
"To consider your actions is at the core of you. I have seen it. I have heard of it—in the words of your fellow Guardians as they recount your feats—your courage, your selflessness. You may tread the razor's edge of damnation, but you are, at your very heart, a just and noble warrior." ~ Chapter 5, Letters feom a renegade. Others certainly talk about us, and I doubt that it's just Osiris, Zavala or other important guardians. Personally? I'd be scared shitless if Zavala told me that I was to team up with the the Young Wolf. *And I certainly wouldn't go into lost sectors to complete bounties instead of completing the objective*
_As you wander off to a Lost Sector, the Guardian stands still at the landing zone and stares at you from the distance, wielding both Thorn and Lumina at the same time, without making a single sound_
I just imagine a new light guardian in green gear, watching a walking nuclear bomb single handedly taking out an entire platoon of cabal with a barrage of miniature suns, then proceed to take his shiny new blue auto and leave.
Imagine the New Light’s face when we get a legendary and immediately dismantle it because “it wasn’t a good roll”
In the lore some gambit playing guardians don’t like us because we are the drifters favorite
What card is that. Would love to read it
Oh god... We're Vader (except sort of good... So far). It would be like how the rank and file Imperials sort of know about this terrifying and mysterious force of nature in their midst. The opposing sides would live in fear of our name! Like DOOMguy x 1000 to the Hellspawn 😱
We are not Vader, we are Anakin. A very promising newbie who is very strong in the Force. Unlike Vader, we are able to dabble in the dark side without falling prey to it. So far, anyway
I always took it as the silent guardian (our guardian) is everyone, like you bring your own lore to it beforehand (like role-plying in WoW or SWTOR). Edit: a horrible mistake
I’m gonna assume that means role-playing. You might want to consider a different way of abbreviating it, just to be safe
You forgot cayde my man he himself was also a legendary guardian
Yeah I actually edited the post adding Cayde-6 but for some reason it didn't process
lore wise, i don't think guardian did feats like killing crota, oryx, aksis etc. alone. that was done in a fireteam of other extremely powerful guardians along with guardian. so while guardian is very strong in their own right, there could also be others floating around in the same realm
Yeah there’s a few lore tidbits which implies the guardian has his own fireteam he calls upon occasionally.
Imagine being a regular guardian dropping into crucible during the laser pointer wars.
so, image this, you just got matched for a strike with THE guardian, you rech the planet and immediatly spawn sparrows as usual, he then runs his sparrow into a wal and explodes and you're just standing there looking at hims waiting to be rezd
You know how the humans react to the doom marine when he arrives on Mars. Kind of like that but with more dancing.
More dancing and talking light bulbs
Something just occurred to me. Everyone’s guardian is the lone wolf since we are all protagonists. Since multiple timelines exist, my guardian could’ve been the one to take out Ghaul and Oryx etc while in another timeline my friend’s guardian did it. Could that be a reason?
I like this theory.
I think by now the notion of "the one" has mostly been abandoned in favor of "we need every single guardian possible to protect humanity and the solar system". And I like to think guardian society would mimic ours. Some guardians would be highly celebreated and famous (like Frostbolt and Datto) while others would remain anonymous yet still be capable of incredible feats (such as all you guys who solo stuff and are awesome PvP players). Of course there would be a lot of guys and gals who just go around their business and quietly help humanity. And we'd see each other the same way we do now.
At this point I’ve gotten so tired of the “YOUR THE BEST GUARDIAN EVER” shtick. It just doesn’t feel relatable. I imagine other guardians might feel a little like that if that makes sense.
Yeah sometimes I wish our character wasn't the center of attention everytime. If they actually had help doing some major deed or something we could say "WE defeat that guy" , not "I did".
Gets really tiresome when you feel like you're just a living weapon thrown around by commanders and not like a soldier fighting for a cause
Probably as some idiot who can't maintain weapons or armor as they need to keep upgrading due to sunsetting while vuvuzela is sitting in his thicc-ass titan armor since Y1
I have a head canon that “the guardian” in terms of the canon is actually several guardians doing the various things i.e. the guardians that cleared the deep stone crypt aren’t the same ones that got their light back. You, as a player character, are just the culmination of those events.
That is actually very interesting.
Since I haven't played D1, my head canon is that the D1 Guardian isn't my Guardian in D2. They're different people. However, it doesn't help when Zavala claims I have killed gods at the heart of the Black Garden or Saladin calls me Young Wolf though
believe it or not there are players who aren't aware of the existence of shaders or even legendary gear
They view him as a goat
I like imagining that the World’s First teams for each raid are “Those Guardians”. Like, my guardian’s got some feats under his belt, but those guys are the real deal
wouldn't drifter be the first light bearer technically Eris an ex light bearer?
Almost everyone is in awe of you. Elsie Bray is just waiting for you to fuck up this timeline.
Last night I matchmade into a 1270 Ordeal with two other guys who were ruthlessly shredding it. Sure 1270s are not incredibly difficult, but I was mostly a spectator for the whole Ordeal. I guess every now and then in our guardian society we'd come across others who play/fight with such focus and intent that it surprises us. We'd have no option than immediately respect their skill level and try to learn from it. And there would definitely be celebrity guardians with cult followings.
I know exactly what this is like when I help blueberries through raids and dungeons or when we go to gambit and I invade 4k with an auto rifle and shotgun so I can use they thousand voices for shits and giggles whenever I get heavy ammo. They look at what im doing in shock and awe. I actually had a husband and wife couple just befuddled by my penchant for murder in gambit followed by my patience helping them through dungeons they have never done before
