(Good) Gamecube games are too close in quality to modern games for them to sell 30 or even 20 in a package like this unfortunately, maybe N64 but they still must be reluctant about it
Not gonna happen probably. Too many issues with Rare licensing. A N64 mini without Banjo, Conker, 007, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, and more would be sad.
Also, there are some emulation issues that i'm not smart enough to explain.
I feel like the hardware would cost more than most mini consoles unfortunately. Thirty games would require around 45 GB of memory (assuming each game is around 1.5 gigabytes) and it would need a decent processor to run the games at an HD resolution.
Still, I’d buy it in a heartbeat if it did happen.
You and I both know this would cost way more than 80$ lol this is Nintendo were talking about. They're re-releasing games for the 20th time like Zelda and Mario and charging 60$. Imagine a mini gamecube console with 30 games....
Sorry to ruin the parade here but didn’t Reggie Fils-Aime admit in an interview that the NES and SNES classic were only made to help float Nintendo across from the Wii U to the switch? The switch is doing great, there’s no need for any more classics. I guarantee Nintendo will never make a Game Boy, N64 or GC classic edition, way too many logistical hurdles with multiplayer, need for more powerful ARM SOC chips and other problems.
Maybe if the Switch 2 is a horrible seller, you guys might get your GC classic after all.
The melee community would buy all of them in it worked legless on a hdmi TV. We out here playing on crt television still. God just a new gamecube controller is like $60.
I'm pretty sure Melee is exactly why they wouldn't bother with a product like this. If they did, it's doubtful they would put Melee on it to begin with. Anything that could potentially draw attention away from the playerbase of the current edition of Smash is a huge no-no in Nintendo's book. They were even willing to throw the banhammer at a relatively harmless online tournament for a nearly 20 old game.
As an aside, the connection being lagless doesn't mean that the experience would be overall. Every modern TV has some degree of lag, even at native resolution, and the biggest problem is none of them are consistent to eachother whatsoever. (TVs have way more lag than monitors in general)
I'd preorder a GameCube Classic when preorders go live. No need to ask me. I just hope Nintendo actually does make a Nintendo GameCube Classic in the next couple of years.
Unless they're charging well over 200 bucks, I don't see this as particularly likely... Nintendo is so stingy these days that even just a slightly less blury version of a Wii game is being sold for only 10 bucks less than the original version's ultimate edition (that was bundled with a $40 controller in exclusive colors and an exclusive soundtrack of the Symphony of the Goddess Orchestra.)
Yeah, me too. I could hook up my Wii for that, but i that's 3 easily tangled up wires more. The WiiU with Nintendon't? It looks a bit squished no matter what i do, also when i hook it up ro my CRT there is a lot of overscan, unlike the GC or Wii
I want to play Gamecube on my CRT and I don't have a DAC, so no, I wouldn't buy it. But I would still like it to exist for other people, Gamecube games are way too expensive.
The problem with these mini consoles is that they're always lacking a game or two that you absolutely love, and if you need to have another system to get those, why bother with the mini at all.
the fact that the games occupy space and the processing power needed to emulate, they would be like wii minis with all of the nintendont software stolen by nintendo or something but with no optical drive, just a 32 gb flash memory similar to the one on the switch
I’d prefer GameCube games to be added to the switch store, bought my switch for animal crossing and it has been left dormant for what will be a year in a couple months </3
Nintendo has done some pretty crappy things for me recently and I stopped buying there games. But I have a soft spot for the GameCube so as long as sonic adventure 2 was on it I would buy in a heartbeat
IMO they should look into all those portablizers for the Wii and just make a Wii the size of an [OMEGA trim](https://mobile.twitter.com/bitbuilt/status/975440857452236800) to use as a Wii + GC Classic, maybe slightly larger (I don't remember if Bluetooth and wifi are available when the Wii is this small). If they were to mass produce this thing, it would be way easier for them to relocate certain chips on the board then it is for these select individuals who managed to pull this off, plus they don't *have* to be restricted to the internal layout of the original Wii, allowing them to potentially shrink it even further (though I suspect mostly reusing the existing Wii as a starting point could help keep costs relatively low)
Maybe because there's no disc drive, less plastic housing, less redundant capacitors/chips on the board, massive mass production scale by Nintendo and the older tech inside the prices could match or be slightly higher than (S)NES Classic, I suspect that it could come in slightly cheaper than the Wii Mini (which I believe was €100,-).
This is all a lot of wishful thinking, but I think it's the most viable way for Nintendo to achieve GameCube and Wii Classic, as most hardware around their target price point isn't powerful enough to emulate these systems. It'll probably never happen, but a man could dream, right?
30 games in the GC classic? keep dreaming. half of those games on that box are able to be purchased today and in some cases, modern consoles. Mario Sunshine? Switch. windwaker? Wii U and upcoming switch. sonic 2? PC, Xbox. pikmin? pikmin 3 is out and 1 and 2 were on wii, which works on wii u.
Considering the prices certain GameCube titles sell for on eBay, and how much Nintendo charges on the rare occasion it ports something from that system anyone who'd say no to an $80 GameCube Mini is insane.
I want to say no because..., but I would definitely buy it over the other mini consoles if it actually has the essentials. Speaking as someone who doesn't own a mini console tho.
I feel like if they made this, it'd only have maybe 10 to 15 games at most and it'd probably be pretty price for them to produce and for us to buy.
Not saying I wouldn't buy it, though.
Probably! :).
I have access to a real gamecube, but baked in games are alluring especially if they re-release hard to get ones.
Would also free up hardware and game discs for people who really like playing on original hardware.
Also they should make some kind of optical disc media that is analogous to e-reader cards and serves as a fun commercializable product. DRM free is cool, but so are unlockables via collectable widgets.
It would depend on what's on it. If Mario Partys and pokemon colosseum/xd are on it it's a definite possibility. If not, I think I have the other games I care about I'm assuming would be on there (sunshine, metroid prime, melee, Mario kart, paper mario etc.)
If you don't care about collecting the physical games, why not just hack/mod your Gamecube? Last I looked a modchip cost around $3 if you have the tools and minimal soldering skills. If you don't want to do that, there are plenty of options for softmodding (to run discs or load from flash storage).
Getting a GCN mini or paying full price for physical games aren't the only options.
10000000% i already have the majority of gamecube games i want, but i would still buy it.
This would be much better than a Nintendo 64 mini. Far less licensing issues since Rare is out of the picture.

Sunshine, Wind Waker, Melee, Metroid prime, Pikman, Mario Skrikers, Twilight Princess, Rouge Squad. 2, TTYD, Resident evil 4, one of the 4 mario party games, Double dash, Luigi's Mansion, Battle for Bikini Bottom, Kirby Air ride, F-Zero, Fire Emblem(!!!)

Would be crazy good value for money. Don't see it happening.
This would honestly be easier to do than a N64 Classic. Most of the defining N64 games are made by Rare, and that would be a nightmare to license. And N64 emulation is notoriously difficult, even with Nintendo's inside knowledge. While GC was a powerful console at the time, we have come far enough to successfully make it work.
30 Games huh. Ok
1080 Avalanche

1000% yes. I haven’t bought any of the other mini consoles but if this ever happened I would in a heart beat. Honestly I’m getting tired of hunting for games. I would still keep my collection but it would be nice to just have this always hooked up.
If it was loaded almost exclusively with rare, expensive, good titles, and not just a bunch of games that have been rereleased elsewhere or are already very affordable and accessible (like Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, various Zelda games, etc). I don't even care if it runs that well, since that would just give me legal cover for running the roms on the real deal using Swiss and SD2SP2.
The GameCube (Japanese: ゲームキューブ Hepburn: Gēmukyūbu?, officially called the Nintendo GameCube, abbreviated NGC in Japan and GCN in Europe and North America) is a home video game console released by Nintendo in Japan on September 14, 2001; in North America on November 18, 2001; in Europe on May 3, 2002; and in Australia on May 17, 2002. The sixth-generation console is the successor to the Nintendo 64 and competed with Sony Computer Entertainment's PlayStation 2 and Microsoft's Xbox.
I’ve been throwing money at Nintendo for years, I don’t plan on stopping now.
Hell yea
(Good) Gamecube games are too close in quality to modern games for them to sell 30 or even 20 in a package like this unfortunately, maybe N64 but they still must be reluctant about it
Ya. 30 NES games. 20 SNES games. I would say probably 15 N64, and 10 GC would be reasonable.
At 30 games, I think it would more than double my current collection. My Wii+SD card are doing a pretty good job of impersonating it though.
Is this hard to do?
Can we get an N64 Mini first?
Not gonna happen probably. Too many issues with Rare licensing. A N64 mini without Banjo, Conker, 007, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, and more would be sad.
Also, there are some emulation issues that i'm not smart enough to explain.
I would since it would probably be hackable and in HD. I loved the SNES mini
30 games? Please, I know a guy.
Idk about you, but I don't need HD. Feed the OG graphics to me please
You and I both know this would cost way more than 80$ lol this is Nintendo were talking about. They're re-releasing games for the 20th time like Zelda and Mario and charging 60$. Imagine a mini gamecube console with 30 games....
I would gladly pay several hundred for this
I guess
Sorry to ruin the parade here but didn’t Reggie Fils-Aime admit in an interview that the NES and SNES classic were only made to help float Nintendo across from the Wii U to the switch? Most definitely

But it's Nintendo, so it'd be "5 hit games" lol
I’m thinking it would probably drive the price of GameCube games down if they did release it. And yes, I’d buy one anyway.
The scalping would be the stuff of nightmares
Yes. But I'mma need an N64 mini first.
I'd preorder a GameCube Classic when preorders go live. No need to ask me. I just hope Nintendo actually does make a Nintendo GameCube Classic in the next couple of years.
YES I NEED THIS! The only popular game I have is Super Smash Bros Melee and too many bad sports games.
I would for sure if the new controllers worked on the OG Cube.
Most definitely not. If it's like that, then it's most definitely emulated. No thanks
I can’t believe some people are completely against emulation
I just bought an SD loader that slides into the bottom and with my chip I just run Swiss and run my games off my SD.
Yeah, me too. I could hook up my Wii for that, but i that's 3 easily tangled up wires more. The WiiU with Nintendon't? It looks a bit squished no matter what i do, also when i hook it up ro my CRT there is a lot of overscan, unlike the GC or Wii
Free Melee
Yes!
Yes, I would buy one
Maybe, tbh I probably would own most of what would be on it, but it would be a cool collector's item.
I'd definitely buy it since it would be hackable and Probably be very powerful as well.
Add Naruto GNT 4 or I ain't buying.
On one hand I own nearly every gamecube game I could want. On the other I love the system and would buy this just to have it
Bound to happen
I don’t see the reason behind *not* doing this, Nintendo would make a killing.
It’ll never happen but I WIIIIIISH
I’d buy one if it had everything
oh hell yes. i would put any amount of money to have it
Holy hell this would be fucking amazing
Shit I'd buy that just for windwaker lol
Haha very true! That is a painful set to compete.
Yes
*Yes*
I modded mine so no
I want to play Gamecube on my CRT and I don't have a DAC, so no, I wouldn't buy it. But I would still like it to exist for other people, Gamecube games are way too expensive. I’d prefer GameCube games to be added to the switch store, bought my switch for animal crossing and it has been left dormant for what will be a year in a couple months </3
If it had Chibi Robo and Gotcha Force I would.
I have a Wii, why would I want that shit?
yep
100,000,000,000% **YES!!!**

Do what I did and homebrew an old Wii, best way to get a playable Gamecube library without going broke Wiis are the price of one GC game on eBay
Considering the prices certain GameCube titles sell for on eBay, and how much Nintendo charges on the rare occasion it ports something from that system anyone who'd say no to an $80 GameCube Mini is insane.
You can make one by trimming a Wii mobo to like 1/10th the volume of the original Wii
Yes
Who would say no? Seriously?
I would buy 2 of them! Lol this would be amazing
They'd fuck up your favorite games
Nope. Already got every game I could ever dream of.
I want to say no because..., but I would definitely buy it over the other mini consoles if it actually has the essentials. Speaking as someone who doesn't own a mini console tho.
Mini consoles are a gimmick
**mmhmm a gimmick, mini consoles are.**

How about just a mario party collection?
No, fuck their remakes! They should stop baking us the same shit over and over

Just stop and give us the GameCube on switch like snes and nes. Heck throw in n64 why your at it. Stop making scalper boxes.

Modding a GameCube with a GCLoader is super easy these days (completely plug-and-play) and really does the trick!
Hell yeah I would.
This would make millions happy.... so Nintendo probably won't do it 😅 is the N64 Classic still coming???
This would be amazing. Maybe they could also do a wii mini with some gamecube games like the back compat
Probably. It's my favorite system.
A tiny gamecube would be adorable think about the tiny handle.
Only "modern" Nintendo system I owned and I regret ever giving it away... hitman and Sonic good ole days
Yea id also like them to make an n64 one
Probably. If it came with Colosseum, XD, or both then definitely.
They're selling GC ports on switch for 60$, i don't see this happening this decade.
Since when was gc games on switch?
No i wouldn't cause my gc has hdmi out and wii does to through adapter
If it was loaded almost exclusively with rare, expensive, good titles, and not just a bunch of games that have been rereleased elsewhere or are already very affordable and accessible (like Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, various Zelda games, etc). dude, i got double dash for 40$ plus shipping. Mario sunshine without the case for 45$ i killed it on ebay this week
If it only had sims 2, sims 2 pets, simpsons hit and run, simpsons road rage and action replay and sims 1 and sims bustin out and sims urbz
