I've been wondering about this, do you have to a certain level of map?
Also
If you use a starting map (the one that shows players) will indicators still be shown?
Edit, I've never tried doing this before because it seems like a lot of work that's why I'm asking, I really don't know.
I miss continents. I've been wanting to make a map that circumnavigates one or more actual continents in-game ever since they fixed maps, and that was **years** ago now.
I haven't even played Minecraft in a couple years because I am waiting for some kind of mod to come out that makes this a possible worldgen option.
One of the best parts of Minecraft is rolling back on updates is easy. Sadly, you do miss out on the new features.
As for a mod, there might be one out there. However, I don't know what it is. I would gladly download it if there was one for 1.17 when 1.17 comes out.
And as for having the generation in base game, it's extremely unlikely. Mojang's new strategy for updating worlds is to have world gen be consistent across all updates. It has it's benefits, minimum chunk boarders between new and old world gen. However, it greatly decreases the uniqueness of the world between each update. So now the problem of endless land and small oceans, instead of endless oceans and small islands, will be there forever.
I absolutely love making maps in Minecraft. One cool thing you might consider doing is putting your picture frames on glowstone. It produces a lighting effect that makes maps look super cool!
I need to start making massive builds and doing shit like this in Minecraft. I always have the urge to play, but I get bored 20 min into it. I guess it’s cuz I’m always doing the same thing, surviving. I need to make a gigantic build so I have reasons to play and reasons to look for materials.
First thing you do is to put in your head your plans for the world, when playing, look around and use your creativity to see what you can do to the world

second and hardest part, getting to the point where's feasable to do that stuff, takes patience
Have they fixed the CPU issue with this or whatever it was in bedrock? We made a big map on an Xbox world and you couldn't even look near the thing without almost crashing the game.
This is cool. Level 2 is gonna take some dedication. This is the first time me and my friend have bothered with maps really but i think the results are good. His are level 1 and mine are the standard level 0.
Elytra really helped speed this up
Mine (kinda just got shoved there. could look better):

I've never figured out an easy way to create maps that line up or center properly. Supposedly there's a grid to adhere to but I never put in the effort to figure it out. I will eventually, I hope.
One question, does this board show the whole world of Minecraft up to the barrier with the Level 2 map? And what is the size of this board?
Plz answer me
Interestingly OP,, depending on the map projection, like if this were a Cassini, oblique Mercator, or Azimuthal equidistant map projection - it would be believable for your world to be spherical upon looking at your map wall here.
Fun to imagine. Look at the ice biome in the top left. That could be the northern hemisphere ice cap. Next, look at the heavily forested zones in the middle. Those could be subtropical mid-lattitude forests. Lastly, those desert biomes in the lower right could be around the 10-20 degree latitude region, created by Hadley cells. That would mean that this world's equator is slightly off the wall to the lower right.
Just hope you don't find another cold/ice biome, lol. Unless it's on the interior of a large continental land mass.
Two questions:
1) Is the world from a Minecraft seed infinite, or will this be your "complete world"?
2) How do you line up the maps like that? Do you have to precisely open each map so that the center is in a particular spot?
I did this on a server once with my brother and 3 other friends we made a 64 by 64 “mission briefing room” for our server and that area lagged like nothing I’ve ever seen before it was stupid cool but had to be in that area going like 20 FPS

I do have a certain level of map, It's level 2.
And about you second question, yes it does.

Am i the only one who sees Britain here?
Yeah I had to check after reading this, yup I can totally see Britain there.

Or for our budget-friendly crafters, use jack-o-lanterns!
I’ve already made a world map On legacy console
Wait-

And I thought the 5×5 I was working on was large!
how do u put a huge picture like that tell me please
Put a map inside an item frame.
To make it bigger, put more maps inside more item frames around it
Survival or creative?
Probably Survival judging by his base area
Good luck
omg that's amazing
last seen online 5 years ago
World map? More like lag machine xD
Use glowstone as the frame/wall and it will be lit and glorious at night.
I dont rlly understand maps
drawn paper depicting the surface of land.
I can't wait! Good luck!
thank youu
Are you done yet?
That’s determined and detonation
WOW I'm amazed at what you are doing! Keep that up! I rly want to see how the final version would look like.
Amazing
You can use lighting blocks under the item frames to light up the map evenly.
You have hella jungle
What seed is it it looks pretty good for a fallen civilisation map I’m planning
Holy shit 196 maps?! Legend
Usually what I will do after is to name all the major areas such as woods, seas, mountains and villages :)
You can only use the indicator (banner ping) feature on Java
So that’s how many maps.... I had a 2x6 wall thinking it would cover most of it
This must have been SUPER annoying to make. Bruh.
That’s a lot
Can’t wait for the full map. Great job!
thank you!
Damn it, i never got this far.
Good luck I builded a place in my base to put a 10×10 map i think but never had the courage to fill it up with the maps
Whoa that's big
Nice a mooshroom island :D
How do you get the maps to line up exact? I'm playing on bedrock and if I use a map, go off it and use another one, I find there's overlap.
There shouldn’t be an overlap if you’re completely off one of the maps maybe it has something to do with the level of map you’re using?
holy shit this must be a hustle
nice!
How long?
I will forever miss the giant oceans and actual continents
*set the world to infinite*
It still works, you'll just never make a big enough map
Good luck
i have been working on this to its coming along but yea...
Wait... it's all Netherlands?
I built a 5x5 world map and it was painful I can't imagine what this must feel like
Good god... I salute you sir!
Have they fixed the CPU issue with this or whatever it was in bedrock? We made a big map on an Xbox world and you couldn't even look near the thing without almost crashing the game.

I’m excited to see the end result
You will see it very soon.

Good for u man
I've just noticed that micelium island is his base

Take a map and when you get out of the map create a new one-
oh wow you're making really good progress :) keep it up!
Una vez trate de hacer uno pero se me corrompió el mundo y ya no funcionaban algunas texturas
I wanna try something like this, except I don't know if 600 item frames with maps will cause too much lag
It will

That looks like the one world I had when I was trying to find the mansion took us 8+hours and a lot of maps
What’s the coolest thing you found while exploring?
Keep up that good work !
I like how the iceberg looks like it’s the pole to your world
Bro I can’t even. I’ve tried building maps like that and it’s so much work, but seeing this makes me want to do it again on my new server
We will watch you career with great interest
Is this for bedrock or for Java? And can you post the seed? I never can find mushroom biome island and it looks like it's in a good spot.
Java, seed is
\-1465850640117401326
This is going to be SO AWESOME
good job man
thats absolutely dope. that takes a lot of time!!!
Looking forward for that
We will watch your career with great intrest

Its FULL of icebergs man, thank you for your theory, its correct.
Bottom right corner looking a tiny bit South Korean, or I’m trippin
Have a creeper blow it up and you have a jigsaw!
im assuming this is xbox 1/ps4/switch edition (legacy console not bedrock) as java only has infinite worlds and the old world in bedrock is tiny.
Good luck on this project :) I've tried something like this on my old world and it took so long to fill out all the maps!!!
Thank youuu ;)
I can barely do this in a 3x3 ;-;

sick
Ok cool now Im gonna do one too

It looks so good mate, I just started my survival world and I definitely want something like that in the future
You could just use [Amidst](https://github.com/toolbox4minecraft/amidst)
isnt the joy of minecraft (survival) actually doing and making stuff?
What mod is this?
Wdym mod?
u/AmongUsCock
[removed]
Will watch your cougar grow with great interest
Wooow
WOW i like this
jesus christ
Every time I make a second map it’s such a tiny spot on it to map out
There is a line of block in the desert in the south of the map
is it just me or is the island the player is on looks like a horse?
What do you do when a new version of the game rolls out? Do you miss out on the new features? Or just go really far away to enjoy them?
WTH have u just done right now then.
world size is probably about 2000 petabytes by now
Ahh we will watch your progress with great interest.
Good luck, brother. May your journey be it’s own reward.
You already postet it
If You don't, i will find You, AND I WILL KILL YOU
Just go to Chunkbase and enter your seed bro
made a 10*10 with level 4s before. never again: took 4 months, although we were just two people
Cool!
Too bad it's not lit up. I'd replace each plank with a jack o' lantern. Or glowstone or glowing mushroom block thing. Would be nice :)
False, you have already posted it.
Nice job dude, keep up the good work
I'm doing one with smaller observation surface but level 3 maps
