I've occasionally wished for a BitTorrent chat protocol for talking to peers. Sadly it would likely be overrun with spam if it had been available in the hayday of the protocol. Nowadays it might just be feasible though! With a high enough proof of work requirement, and an easily verifiable proof of work like EquiHash, it would be feasible!
I had one sitting at 99.94% for weeks. I gave up on it and found a different version of it. On Sunday I noticed it's merrily seeding away - and at 100%!
I really want this specific tv show episode in 1080p and there are only 3 different torrents for it. 2 of them are very dead and the last one is this one.
Me and about 15 other peers have been stuck together for over a week at 99.3%. I hope whoever is holding the other .7% is happy with themselves.
I've torrented countless files over the past 12 years and it's incredibly rare to come across a choke like this for me personally. :\
Had this happen to me once. 7 people at 72% iirc. Even though I found a file elsewhere and uploaded it, I could not tell those 6 that they needed to go to another torrent.
Cross seeding wasn't possible since the file size was different.
Request to integrate chat in Utorrent and qbit torrent
I think Utorrent had chat feature a decade ago, I have switched to qbit so o don't know whether Utorrent still has that festure, it was mostly filled with spam tho still kinda cool to chat with fellow peers.
It did, I remember reading the comments there to see if the game worked
Honestly if netflix or hulu had EVERY single possible show or movie, I wouldn't pirate. I would happy subscribe for whatever price
Even if it was spread across 2 or max 3 services. But almost a dozen now? And even if you sub to all of those you don't get everything. It's just sad.
Can i ask which TV series is this ?
It's something for my mom, it's the newer Macgyver show.
See [Decentralized Chat - Vuze](https://wiki.vuze.com/w/Decentralized_Chat) (also [Bigly](https://github.com/BiglySoftware/BiglyBT/wiki/Decentralized-Chat), and [uTorrent](https://torrentfreak.com/utorrent-quietly-ditches-rating-comment-features-160731/) from 5yrs ago)
Howdy to anyone else on any of these.
I wish I could chat with your peers and tell them not to use utorrent...
Same. Bittorrent or Deluge for me.
Can someone explain why this happens? How can you download 99.3% of a file and then not receive the last bits? If nobody has the last bits (since OP waited 1 week still nothing) then isnt the torrent forever gone/dead?
I'm no peer to peer networking engineer but from what i can tell this is just unlucky. Mostly likely the original seeder had to shut down his seed at that stupid percentage for some reason, maybe it was a mistake maybe it was on purpose but now the last piece seems to be gone from the internet. Until someone comes online with that final piece the torrent is pretty much dead/unusable. Mostly likely there was one guy on 99.3% with hope that the original seeder would come online and now a bunch of people have joined him, just waiting.
Why would you even start downloading if no one has it at 100.
Because I cant find a comparable rip anywhere else. Peers go in and out of availability all the time. I cant count all the times I've started torrents with no peers for hours then I leave it overnight and some guy in Russia/Finland turns on his rig and I get my full file.
