Question about the new canon - did the clones understand via the inhibitor chips that they were working for Darth Sidious? The non-canon novelization of RotS used to have Order 66 as just a contingency order against the hypothetical situation of a Jedi rebellion, and all the clones followed it as the GAR’s commander in chief was the Supreme Chancellor, not the Jedi. Didn’t matter if the chancellor was named Sidious or Palpatine or Ernest. Iirc, in RotS, Sidious never calls himself that in front of the clones, and all Cody says is “it’ll be done my Lord.” However, in the Siege of Mandalore episode, Rex explicitly replies to “Darth Sidious.” Weird that they’d know who Sidious was without ever hearing that name unless it was coded into the chips (unless Sheev introduced himself before ordering Order 66 lmao). Came off as a ham-handed depiction of “omg the Sith is totally running things” vs the movie version for me.
Rex knew about the existence of Sidious so he might have put 2 and 2 together once order 66 was executed
