10 years to raise that anchor.
2 anchors, one on each side. Either pulls up at a rate the same as the brig, you need both to fully stop and you have to drop the correct one to anchor turn. If 1 is down you get slowed down and it dampers your ability to turn to the other side.
This could be cool as like an event, have a skeleton version of this ship roam the open seas as a Player Killer or something like that. Super slow but very powerful, and you can try and sink it for large loot and reward. As a player ship, while cool, I feel this thing would be sooooo incredibly slow and difficult to navigate with. Hopefully Skull and Bones will scratch that itch for larger ships.
Literally like a mobile version of the Fort of the Damned
Imagine bucketing on that beauty
Maybe it could have a water pump system, so you pump water while others repair. Or something.
We tried for a while and finally got 2 galleons on the same server. Left one at port and took 8 people on one ship. It was the most fun I've had in a while, we had a dedicated ship crew (the 4 from the abandoned galleon) that fixed the boat/ fired the cannons and just let the other 4 board the enemies or do whatever. Quest-wise we did not get much done, but we did complete a fort of the damned in like 30 minutes so that was a highlight. Also when a sloop rolled up on us they didn't expect the 8 man crew to fire all 4 cannons with the rest of the crew inside for the instant board. We couldn't stop laughing for a good while. Almost convinced a 3rd galleon to join us for the 12 man, but they were hoping off for the night.
Oh god. A 12 man galleon. You could almost break it down into actual naval divisions. Captain, chief of boat, helm, 2 GM (cannons), 2 BM (rigging), 1 SuppO (supplies), 2 MarDet (marine detachment), 2 DC (damage control).
That would be awful to fight against
They could at least add NPC ships like that
Yeah, that's a good compromise. The fact is that trying to pilot that would be a nightmare, but it would be really neat to fight.
Lore-wise, a ship this large wouldn't make it through the shroud (it could be constructed within the Sea of Thieves, but there's no shipyard)
Gameplay-wise, i've read somewhere that Rare found early in development that 4 players is the sweetspot for max crew size. Any larger and the crew will split into sub groups. So imho it's unlikely that they'll divert from it.
Jokes on them, sometimes 2 players is too big!!!
Maybe instead of a sailable player-controlled man o war, they should implement that floating bar ship from the concept art. Have it sail around the sea at all times, unsinkable.
Make it the size of the Man o War, and have it be a floating mobile Tortuga, where pirates can board and brawl each other, or finally play the fabled tavern games like liars dice etc that everyone is always clamoring for. Betting their gold for legendary cosmetics only winnable on the “Bilge Rat Barge.”
It’s fun to dream haha
It can be used as a bus if you lost your ship and want to turn in some loot
While the concept is cool, imagine the turn cycle on that thing.
I already hate the galleon due to its slow turning speed so just imagine how dreadful turning on this ship would be
Not to mention how horrid it'd be to play with a crew that doesn't know what they're doing. That's a recipe for migraines
The current map is too small for that thing's turn radius
They could do a 3 day thing every 2 weeks for a challenge, defend the sea from the english armada. There would be ships like this around the sea looking to take out any pirates they see. It would be a cool pve event as even an Galleon could out maneuver this ship but you defiantly don't want to brood side it lol. It could have a slow respawning crew of like 20 men, and the supply onboard would supply your ship for a while. The loot would have to be good to make it worth it maby if you take down 1 you get special sails and the more you take down the more stuff you get. The loot it drops could be anything.
Looks cool, would be a blast to fight against like the skelly fleet, but as a playable ship? No
Yeah, it would be great as like a superboss.
The servers wouldn't be able to handle two of these lmao
This all seems well an good until you have 20+ tier 3 holes to patch.
It could be a boss in some event where many player ships fight against one or more of these.
You fucking kidding me i cant get 3 people to turn a sail
Imagine solo slooping, minding your own business, and then you get rammed by a ship 5 times your size with 10 times more firepower
And it’s filled with Open Crew, you fire one shot, nobody fixes it, they sink.
It's kind of like old WoW - a 40 man raid sounds fun but the reality of having that many people and making them work towards a goal is a nightmare.
Pirates didn't use a ship of the line like this. The sloop is closest to the sort of vessel a pirate would use.
Plus the servers couldn't handle it - the stability of which should be a huge priority.
There should be a server where there is just one ship with 5-10(maybe more)people and they would have constant threat from the relentless NPC’s and skeleton fleets would appear to fight the crew. World events will be much harder and a special skeleton fleet would appear and the flagship would be a ship to rival your own. Ship insight 4 deacks, 1 captai’s room, 12 cannons, 8 sails, 2 rowboat docks, 7 handles to raise anchor, and 2 jail cells.
Does anyone even use the jail anymore? I mean you're linked to the ship, its not like you can imprison an enemy player. And if your playing with randos, they'll just leave the game
this would be cool as maybe a raid. new armada sighted in the sea of thieves you need a few crews to collect materials to build this ship then you all group up to fight the armada.
If these do come to the game then it would be a good idea to add ship specific servers cause sloops would be destroyed in seconds
By the time u get to the bottom floor to repair the ship it'll have sunk already
Oh boy, 10 man crew to gank a sloop with a single brand new player with no loot...
i am begging you people to please stop suggesting the man o war. it's a cool idea when you give it literally zero thought, but there are so many obvious reasons why it will never and should never be added
Yeah it would be too hard to balance with sloops. Making it difficult to maneuver to account for the sloop would just make it too clunky. The galleon is slow enough. Plus an increased crew size would make it even harder for sloops to board successfully.
Also I don't wanna sound like that guy but it's a pet peeve of mine when people call it the man o war haha. A man of war is any sailing ship that is armed (the sloop, brigantine and galleon are all man of wars technically).
A full server alliance 700 wood, 500 cannonballs, 200 fruit you build a server ship you all auto join as crew once it's built. New super events/voyage will be bought/spawn for use of this ship
Hol' up, that actually sounds amazing. My crew never forms alliances, but that might incentivize us to start!
Sounds like a lot of work to go through on the player side to see the content though. Maybe three crews worth, so half the server (if they could go back to 6 ships somehow vs the current 5). And then if both halves of the server allied, there would be two man o wars to battle it out! I'll keep dreaming haha
They need to allow us to name our ships. I know some people would give theirs inappropriate names, but still.
*Me getting lost belowdecks for the tenth time in one day*
I don't know if I want to see it as a player vehicle. But a a skelly-o-war would be dope. Something that could just bombard a player ship.
*cough* Skull and Bones *cough cough*
Imagine they added 2 new boss ships that roam the sea of thieves, a steamboat that is very fast but only as durable as a brig and a giant frigate that is slow but very durable.
Maximum crew size: 5
I'm going to have nightmares by just thinking about trying to manage this.
Fast line or Schooners always fancy me more.
This ship should be the setting for an Arena TDM mode
:Laughs in [ATLAS](https://store.steampowered.com/app/834910/ATLAS/): (Because that game has Galleons)
Two of these.
I want one with the big stained glass window in the back
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a game mode where every island is spread further out and there’s 10 man-o-wars of 8 players each. Just a thought, just a thought
The blessed 10 man crew
Rare: 5 players, take it or leave it
This bad girl better stay in dreams
So you want to play with 2 ships per server?
As fun as having massive 20 people crews sounds, I don’t thing it would work
Maybe instead of including this in adventure, maybe 4 of these in arena around a couple islands with 10 player ships, I think that would work.
There’s a plethora of reasons why this is a bad idea I wish people would stop suggesting it. How about Rare works on a different mob besides a skeleton, that would be better use of their time and everyone would benefit.
I’m waiting for SoT 2 for that
