As a truck driver I am so tired of seeing garbage everywhere left by other drivers. So I decided to be the change that I wanted to see in the world.

Thank you! I’m a parks worker in a large city, and I pick up a lot of trash in my parking lots and roadways from truckers.
I'm sorry about that. I hate the drivers that do that. We aren't all like that.

Nice, I'm a trucker too. I'm always saddened by the level of trash I see at truck stops and near my home terminal at the long beach ports. I keep 2 plastic bags, from Vons or wherever, in my truck. One for recycling and 1 for other trash. Maybe takes 10 seconds out of my day to toss it when I'm fueling up? I see piles of used tires, used motor oil, piss bottles, you name it. We can blame big corporations on polluting our planet but we have a huge role to fill as well.
Just don't ever let that shit get in your sleeper or cab. Mine always goes in the side box.

Truck stops and other places need to provide sanitary piss bottle disposals because My Fucking God the number of full apple juice containers along roads and highways is sickening.
Almost every truck stop has a separate dumpster for every other truck right when you back in to a parking spot.

Kudos and thank you! I live on a busy road with no stoplights but a few stop signs, and they get backed up during morning+evening commutes. Not surprisingly, there are some folks that just don't give a shit and throw their trash right out the window. I go out periodically and clean up along the side of the roads- recycle what I can and trash the rest. I get outside, get some exercise, and (I hope) make the world a slightly better place.

I’m tempted to do this too. It’s like ever since Covid our transit department is non existent. Like they can’t possible drive separately and wear masks while outside picking up the trash. Makes me sick all the trash and now graffiti. It’s ridiculous!!

Yes! Your last sentence resonates with me so much. I go for walks around my neighborhood and the amount of trash I saw yesterday was making me anxious, especially the styrofoam next to the stormwater drain. When I got home, I put on some gloves, got my grabber and plastic bags and out I went! Just took 20 mins to clean up my street.

Thanks. I don't really need much recognition personally. The money is what I'm here for. It's a job, I love the job and I love the pay. That's good enough for me. If I wanted recognition I probably wouldn't have the personality type for being a trucker.

Actually yes. The northeast in general is the worst because there are so few facilities for truck drivers.
When we are treated like less than human, we tend to act that way as well.
I was delivering a load in the Boston, Mass area and had to wait 24 hours to get unloaded....when my wife and so asked if they had a restroom we could use, they said
and I quote "we have restrooms, just not for you". Oh and none of the local stores we could walk to had public restrooms either.
So we had no choice but to hold in our bodily functions for 24 full hours or to shit in a bag.
Im not proud of it but I personally took a piss right on the dock because I was so angry they wouldn't let my wife inside to use the restroom.
So when we get treated like animals, we act like animals.
I understand the post but I laughed because it looks like you're saying that you're upset that you're NOT the one leaving garbage, so you decided to add your own garbage out of principle.
