I remember an AITA post a while back, this guy was determined to have a pet fox, did some research and was working with a rescue organization. He was PISSED (pun not intended) because they wanted him to put containers of fox urine around his house for a few weeks before he got the fox to make sure he could deal with the smell. Everyone in the comments was saying “Dude, they do that for a reason. If you haven’t smelled it you will *not* be prepared”. Wonder if he ever got his wee pal.

That pose with him/her down on the forelegs and bouncing side-to-side is dog language for "let's play". The exuberance kinda gives it away too but that is literally dog language for play. You can initiate play with your pup by imitating that (which your dog may ignore...it is only an invitation).

I don't understand how people keep these as pets... Are they not considered to be wild animals, and does their urine not smell worse than nearly anything else on the planet?
A lot of the pet foxes you see are rescues from fur farms. They've been bread for their fur and are tamer than a wild fox. They also would not be able to survive in the wild, and aren't afraid of humans. Fur farms are a truly awful and highly cruel industry, and life as a pet is much preferred to being kept in in a small cage for most of their life.
