My dog, George, has gone 7 years of his life never howling. Last summer, my Dad started to learn the accordion and George decided to give us a Christmas performance
I used to live in a really high-crime neighborhood and one night a friend came by and left his accordion in the car out in front of my house. Later that night we heard breaking glass and went outside and sure enough someone had smashed the window and put four more accordions in his car.
We all give him a round of applause after and he loves that! He's so accustom to clapping now that we have to do it whenever he comes inside the house or he gets into a hump!
i'm George the dog, a quiet one,
no 'howl' for seven years . . .
til Now: a New sound has begun -
is Music to my ears!
'*...is Something wrong?!'* thought family -
*'You Never say a word!*'
but now am singing *harmony*
to Best thing that i've heard!
don't know the words to any tune,
but i will do my part ^:@o
tilt back my head - *Howl at the Moon!*
n *Sing*
with All my heart!
❤️
Same here . Took up the accordion last year . Any time I play Daisy comes running to me and starts howling . I haven’t figured out if she is singing along or complaining .
100% sure the noise the wife is making is complaining .
I'm not usually a fan of accordions or dogs howling.
But I actually listened to this on loop for several minutes. Something about it is kinda festive and nice.
As a note - George would occasionally howl/squeak when my dad was learning and practicing. George has "sung" before but only the odd squeak and would tail off quite quick! This was his best performance! My wording was slightly off in the title
The first time my 10 year old pug ever howled was when watching The Office and Meredith screaming when Dwight placed a bag over her head with a bat inside it.
Accordions, harmonicas, and sometimes the fiddle. One of my dogs joined a group on stage and sang with a girl while another feller played the fiddle after that he would song at every occasion
I didn't think my dog howled either for the longest time until one time me and my family were going somewhere and I forgot something in the house. I run back to the house and hearing this howling...this sad howling!! I was crushed to hear her crying/howling when we leave!! I felt so bad!! Now she's an old girl and I think is cool with us leaving as she just goes and takes a nap! Her howling was not nearly as joyful as this!!
What wonderful fond memories that will bring! That’s so precious. When I was a kid my dog also never howled, that was until my dad got out the saxophone. It’s my fondest memory of them 😊
Ummm so side note, your home is beautiful and like something I would want to live in. Which is hard for me to find because it's not what you often find on pinterest or instagram. Would you mind sharing if it was a custom build or if you can find that kind of gorgeous mantel/bookcase in an already built home?
When I was a kid my aunt brought a dog to my dad to watch and eventually we ended up keeping her. Anyways... years after we got a wolf pup who ended up teaching her how to howl after it grew a "bit". It was a legit deep howl though and kinda surprised everyone because she had never done it before. I remember sitting on our back porch and getting them going by howling myself.
This is great though. Lol like saying "I can do it better".
This reminds me of the first time my dog Baxter howled! We were driving home with the window open so he could stick his head out when an ambulance started driving towards us. I pulled over to allow them to pass and as the siren grew louder he let out the slowest, most old man howl I’d ever heard. He had never howled before that and it was such a surprise when it came out. Tell George to keep singing and thanks for the memory of my old man!
My dog does the same thing. I have no idea why. He only howls when he hears an accordion. Occasionally a piano when its played loudly, but that only happened once
My mom played accordion when she was young, she played at village bals, weddings and such to earn some pocket money. Got married, a kid then 2 dogs. She still liked to play outside in summer. Both dogs would always follow her outside and howl their heart out the whole time she played. They could not help it. We thought it was hurting their ears at first but they easily could have gone elsewhere. I think they just enjoyed this.
Not at all! He was rescued but they didn't know too much about him. We think he's part pyrenean moutain dog, his build is similar and his spots too! Check them out, Linus could be mixed with one
Encore! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
My dog is with me in bed... he’s sleeping. He usually doesn’t wake up with tv or music... but this definitely made him wake up and look around .... so naturally I showed him what I was watching. And he wanted to go outside. Not sure if he thought a dog was outside or not. 😂
My childhood dog used to howl upstairs while I played the tuba. It annoyed the shit outta my parents, and soon the dog was always sent into the basement while I practiced so she could howl with me.
This is great. My neighbor picked up Bagpipes over the summer. He practices outside, usually only one round of amazing grace. All the local dogs sing along if they're out.
My dog does this to the ice cream truck song and needed me by Rihanna. Something about her song makes him lose it, can’t even listen to it with him around cause it’s annoying af lol
Yeah he does dude. We got it checked and it's just a fatty lump, was worried it was cancer but it's not! He's getting old and he's a big boy so they said it was normal. He's got a check up due soon so they'll confirm again. Hope everything goes well with your boy!
Such a good singer!
I'll pass it over to him!

I can't even tell if this is a joke because that is the level of weird crime that sometimes happens around me (drunk people thinking they are funny).
You finally played a song he knows the words to
Either that, or finally someone is playing music good enough for a jamming sessiin.
He's wagging his tail too - I think he likes it! :)
We all give him a round of applause after and he loves that! He's so accustom to clapping now that we have to do it whenever he comes inside the house or he gets into a hump!

That's honestly the best thing. Thank you!
“Dad has started learning the accordion” Now that is a horror show sentence, although I put sound on and your dad is pretty good tbf
I misjudged the timing! It was 2019 not 2020! He practices when he can but George starts howling!
Same here . Took up the accordion last year . Any time I play Daisy comes running to me and starts howling . I haven’t figured out if she is singing along or complaining . 100% sure the noise the wife is making is complaining .
My wife saw that I had been looking at accordions and threatened to leave. She allows me my drum set I guess.
I'm not usually a fan of accordions or dogs howling. But I actually listened to this on loop for several minutes. Something about it is kinda festive and nice.
Thanks dude. Both my dad and George are really happy because of that
#1 on the Billboard Hot 100
Is George sick? He looks like he has a lump on his neck. Doesn’t stop his great singing though!!
We had it checked and it's just a big fatty lump! Non cancerous which is a relief!
As a note - George would occasionally howl/squeak when my dad was learning and practicing. George has "sung" before but only the odd squeak and would tail off quite quick! This was his best performance! My wording was slightly off in the title
It’s even better that he sounds like he’s actually pronouncing the words “aw woo woo woo. Aw woo. “ too cute to deal with.
What a festive pup! Give him some extra scrinches from all his new Reddit fans!!
Idk why but everything about this is wholesome? The accordion, the howling, the tail wagging and the cosy room 🥺I feel warm inside
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
So cute <3 and your place looks cosy af
Can't take credit for the room! My parents house, I'll pass over the comment though!

that's not a performance that's a peaceful protest.
My husky, Bandit, who died about seven years ago, used to howl at trains and the harmonica for HOURS on end. He was, and still is, my favorite dog.
My dog is not happy when I play mine.
He might be a fan of the old joke: Do you know the difference between a trampoline and an accordion?
You take your shoes off before you jump on the trampoline. :D
High praise from George
He just needed some inspiration!😄😄
The song of my people
What a good little singer!
George just need to find his jam!
Who knew it was Morris Men tunes. They slap apparently!
It’s a polka-dog
So when does the album drop?
Happy Dog 🎶 found his calling
I don't know anything about how easy or hard it is to play the accordion, but your dad sounds pretty good for just half a year of playing :)
My dog never howls..until I take out the handheld plunge saw. Only thing that does it to him. Soon as I turn it off, he stops
What a precious pup and cozy home! Major hygge vibes
i love when howling dogs do the "awooawooawooooooo" in the middle. s'cute!!
So super cute! Thank you for sharing.
Dog.
This might be my favorite video on the internet right now.
He has finally connected with his wolf ancestry. :3 Beautiful singing. Lol. Top tier singer.
It's so wonderful to hear a dog sing, it's so incredibly poignant, I love George
I want to know the sea shanty that dog is singing!!!
Omgosh that's so funny.
I would totally go to a George concert
I didn't think my dog howled either for the longest time until one time me and my family were going somewhere and I forgot something in the house. Definitely sounds more like a melodeon! Tell your dad he's doing great, keep up with the Morris tunes!
The pack has spoken.
Well, accordion to animal specialists dogs not howling for a long time is not unusual
What wonderful fond memories that will bring! That’s so precious. When I was a kid my dog also never howled, that was until my dad got out the saxophone. It’s my fondest memory of them 😊
My GF has a client with a piano and a dog named Coop. Everytime she housesits for the client, Coop and I have a duet.
I would die for George
A gorgeous rendition, George!! ❤️
Good job George!!
These two would make an amazing busker team
According to George, you both are making the same sound.
Ahhh yeah, he's got singing chops. 🎶
Your dad is pretty good on that accordion.
Ummm so side note, your home is beautiful and like something I would want to live in. Which is hard for me to find because it's not what you often find on pinterest or instagram. Would you mind sharing if it was a custom build or if you can find that kind of gorgeous mantel/bookcase in an already built home?
Thanks! My dad built almost all of the storage and cases!
Where can I buy tickets for next years performance?
When I was a kid my aunt brought a dog to my dad to watch and eventually we ended up keeping her. Anyways... years after we got a wolf pup who ended up teaching her how to howl after it grew a "bit". Great performance! The musical act almost brought me to tears. 10/10 would recommend to friends :)
Well done George!

George has a lovely singing voice
Hilarious and cute ❤️
My dog is also named George.
It awakened something deep inside him! Good boy George.
This is so weird...my dog also does this when I play the accordion. Must be something in its unique frequencies.
He has great timbre, great pitch, nice rhythm. Fantastic!
My mom played accordion when she was young, she played at village bals, weddings and such to earn some pocket money. Got married, a kid then 2 dogs. She still liked to play outside in summer. Both dogs would always follow her outside and howl their heart out the whole time she played. They could not help it. George is quite the performer!
He’s so talented!!!!
Bravo George!

The dog is great, but your dad sounds good too for just picking it up last summer!
He's annoyingly good at everything!
Currently playing this to try to get my girl to howl
What a precious baby
My childhood dog used to howl upstairs while I played the tuba. It annoyed the shit outta my parents, and soon the dog was always sent into the basement while I practiced so she could howl with me.
I do not understand the 'last summer' - 'Christmas' part... but George is a real Christmas angel :))
The pet owner's father took up the accordion last summer, and by Christmas was able to give this performance.
An absolute BANGER
Give George a round of a-paws please!
Your dad broke your dogs vow of silence. He must be pretty bad at the accordion.
Do they play weddings? I'd get married just to hire these guys.
What a pretty song!
Such a great singer!! ☺️
George is a lovely name.
Yeah .... he’s not howling, he’s singing. And very well I must say.
Oh George you glorious beast!
guess he always had it inside, just needed the right instrument to bring it out. music is the universal language.
This is great. My neighbor picked up Bagpipes over the summer. He practices outside, usually only one round of amazing grace. All the local dogs sing along if they're out.
Your home is cozy AF!
I love when dogs join in on the sing a long
Yep Grammys are rigged he wasn’t nominated
So now, they both have new hobbies! Win, win
I like how he kept in time. I liked the key he chose. I liked his improvised harmony. 10/10 Would buy puppers album.
What a beauty!
Goddamn is this charming.
:)
And just like that...a ⭐️is born!! Looks like he’s been waiting his whole life for this moment!😊
He would occasionally do the odd squeak before hand when dad would play. Stepped up and got the warbling in too!
How precious!
A friend of bella's howled for the first time yesterday when mine was..
He’s actually telling your dad to STOP playing
That dog is pitch perfect
George is groovin
I mean accordions make us all feel sad don’t they?
My dog did the same thing when I started playing harmonica!
hahha this is hilarious
All that practicing overshadowed by this cuteness lol
My dog does this to the ice cream truck song and needed me by Rihanna. Something about her song makes him lose it, can’t even listen to it with him around cause it’s annoying af lol
Awoo away sweet dogger
Give George some pets and a 'good boy' from me, that's a lovely performance.
aww
He never approved of anything until dad learned to play.
This is beautiful !
George: "clearly this is some kind of alarm. Aooooooooooooo!!"
TBF it sounds better than the accordion
Does your dog have a large lump on the neck? Has a vet checked it out? My guy has a few now, getting them checked at his next appt.
Yeah he does dude. We got it checked and it's just a fatty lump, was worried it was cancer but it's not! He's getting old and he's a big boy so they said it was normal. He's got a check up due soon so they'll confirm again. Hope everything goes well with your boy!
Sing us the song of your people!
I was worried that he was upset somehow - then saw his til was wagging. Good boy just singing along :)
r/cozyplaces material
Mum can't believe all the nice comments ahah she'll love that
He found his calling
