I’m looking to finally adopt a dog after losing my dog to my ex. I was looking at puppies but they go fast at Thai shelter but I found a 4 year old German shepherd mix and put in a request to see her. Never thought I’d go for a grown dog before but here I am. I hope I can have her and give her the home she needs after being abandoned.
I've adopted a few animals from different shelters and spent a to of time volunteering and doing most things at a shelter.
It amazes me how the vast majority of people want really young animals. Lots of people won't even consider an adult animal even if its still young. I get that kittens and puppies are cute as fuck, and they are but they also don't stay that way.
They also shit everywhere, need to be trained, and take a ton of energy but the biggest thing imo is that their personality doesn't always carry over into adulthood. That young animal might grow up to be really lazy, or super hyper, or not like attention or will chew on everything no matter what you do etc etc.
You go for a full grown animal and you'll probably get what you see, there are indeed exceptions but you get a much better idea of what you are getting.
That said good on you, not only did you adopt but you also good in an adult who as i said before most people wont consider.
That pittie imprinted that mans face in its heart. That dog searched that mans soul and decided that he is worthy of devotion.
That look is as good as picking up Mjolnir. F
Does "rescued" mean "adopted" or is it something else? I keep seeing people refer to their pets as "rescues" and it confuses me because I'm not sure what it means. We adopt our pets from the shelter and humane society but we always say just that, we "adopted" them.
What does rescued mean in the context of pets? I would think it meant took in a stray that was going to die otherwise but this dog appears pretty healthy so idk.
Rescue organizations in my area typically try to place dogs that have not been adopted at traditional shelters, and need to be placed to make room for other animals. I agree that the term "rescue" is used to make people feel good about themselves, but there really is a difference.
Honestly, I doubt I will ever get another purebred dog. There's too many dogs needing homes.
Last month, we tried to adopt a pittie from a rescue organization but didn't get her. That's how they saw themselves--as a place dedicated to placing the unwanted dogs who didn't have a home. Instead, we adopted one from a traditional shelter.
The pittie girl we adopted looks very much like the dog in the video. Lots of energy, and probably the sweetest dog I have ever known.
Every time this video gets posted, invariably people show up to say that the dog is actually very uncomfortable and the guy is in danger of getting his face chomped.
They learned what "whale eye" is in dogs, and can't wait to apply it to everything they see.
I haven't scrolled down yet, but I just know it's waiting for me below.
We have a rescued pit terrier mix that was used as a bait dog at dog fights. He's covered in scars and was about a year old when we got him. He never learned how to show affection. This is exactly how he cuddles, stiff as a board and kind of arches his head up to you, the only part of him moving is his tail wagging. If you stop petting he instantly puts a paw on your hand until you pet him more.
My parents have a rescued pit. It's the cutest fucking dog I've ever seen. She does exactly that. She'll run over to me, plop her entire body against my legs and whip her tail like it's a propeller. If I sit on the couch she throws her head right into my neck and outs all her body weight me. It makes me melt a little every time
Some pitbulls are dangerous, some are not. "Pitbull" is not actually a breed, there are like 4 or 5 different bully breeds that people call pitbulls (american bulldog & american staffordshire terrier are a couple). Pitbulls are often bred and used as fighting dogs and so they do sometimes have aggressive tendencies because of that, but many don't.
I have had nothing but nice encounters with pitbulls, and they seem to love me.
However, it's the only dog where people will post endlessly about how nice they "really are" and you know what THAT means.
They aren't a chihuahua, so keep it real.
Everyone loves to fantasize that this dog must be thinking, "oh my god, this man saved my life. I love him so much for being my savior." When in reality, the dog is probably thinking something along the lines of, "I want some more food."
So, is it true or not that you shouldn't look a dog in the eyes? I'm assuming what we're seeing here is a new relationship, I'm just wondering if it's too soon to be so familiar.
I’m not disagreeing with your point, but I have a feeling the title to this post is made up. This looks like a pet smart, not an animal shelter, and there’s no indication that this is a rescue dog or that the two just met.
I need someone who looks at me like that. Damn
I can look at you like that. Depends if you're kind hearted like that guy and would also stroke me like this, I'm yours

edit: just imagine hemsworth holding a big bottle and staring at you through the camera. “mjolnir. be worthy”
damn
A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself.
I really am not a big fan of myself. I'm certain my family loves me more than I love myself.

Can someone enlighten me as to whether pits are dangerous or not? I've seen a lot of controversy over this

I've only ever met Chihuahuas who wanted me dead. It's the difference in capability that matters.
This is so pure and beautiful.
*It's mutual love...* Is there a follow-up story on this beautiful pittie? 💟🐕💕

Correct. Dogs don’t like prolonged eye contact. Especially from a stranger.
It would be cuter if this wasn’t the 1,000th time this was posted.

They never stop looking at you like that either. Pit bulls are the best.
When pitbulls look at you like that, your free will is gone. You are theirs
Just like your face in about 10 seconds.
Fuck pitbulls. I had one attack me unprovoked as a kid.

Still can't trust them sadly.
Agreed. Too many horror stories.
ILL NEVER LET GO
Next post on this video: WCGW ? putting your face 2 inches from a strange pit bull's powerful jaws?
Then it ate a baby.
This is the third time I see this posted here. Last time I said it’s a repost, I got downvoted
I have seen this at least 5 times, at least wait a while before posting this again

3 seconds later...pittie locks jaw on mans hand, man loses hand
This is the 1,000th repost of this. And I look forward to the 1,001st repost of this.
They are banned in the UK for being too dangerous.
