Sea turtles are actually incredibly good navigators! They basically have a built in compass. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17276900/#:~:text=Young%20sea%20turtles%20use%20the,using%20the%20Earth's%20magnetic%20field.
Just annecdotal but when I was in Hawaii the guys on the boats told us the turtles would follow the boats between reefs/islands as safe passage because the sharks didn't like the boat motors.
Hey! This is from Sea Turtle Inc. In South Padre Island! Totally reccomend visiting, they're great they rehabilitate injured turtles and the ones that can't be released are well taken care of and you can go by and see them! They helped rescue thousands (I think) cold stunned sea turtles this past week, with the help of local volunteers! [ Their website](https://seaturtleinc.org/)
I don't know why I'm reminded of the slide after kids saw Santa in the movie "A Christmas Story".
I'm sure I saw one of them trying to get back up the slide to ask for a Red Ryder BB Gun!
Lovely. I went diving in Jupiter FL and its loggerhead season. Kinda nuts to be swimming near a turtle bigger than you.
Spent time on dive picking up the fishing line I found on reef so the turtle bros dont get tangled.

So, I am so curious how all these turtles were found or rescued? Were they stunned and just floating on the surface of the gulf? Were they washed up on shore? Might anyone know?
Some were netted floating in the bay, some were stranded between rocks and such. The bay is pretty shallow so they can’t dip down and escape the cold water. They are cold blooded so they literally can’t move when they get so cold. Most would drown/stop breathing if they weren’t rescued
Koo koo kachoo - they find their way back to the Big Ol' Blue
I’m crying way to early on Monday!
All I can think of is these dudes dropping into the water and saying " where the fck am i??" Lol

How do I get a job tossing sea turtles down a waterslide?
A degree in marine biology
plot twist : its actually illegal turtle racing
Plot twist: they are tortoises
Time to refill the sea turtles.
Anyone else disappointed that the camera never captured the end of the slide?
Came to the comments just to see if this bothered anyone else.
Were these the turtles in texas?
Yes. See a link further down in the comments to the explanation. Poor things aren’t designed for zero degrees!
Is this a specialized sea turtle deployment ship?
Turtle carrier
This makes me so happy
‘Tis a “turtles all the way down” restock!
Really is pleasing to watch.
Weeeeeeeeeeee!
Ohmygod weeeeeeeee
My friend’s husband is in this video! I’m so proud of our community and the nation for showing us humanity this past week!
A turtle made it to the water!
Been a good while and thats still all i can think about when i see a turtle getting in the water
I want to work on a boat with a turtle slide for just one day. Just one would be enough to make me happy forever.
Their stories will be shared for generations to come as that time when what the bloody hell was that?
TURTLE POWER!! ✊🏽🐢
Sharks waiting at the back of the boat like it’s an all you can eat buffet. “Slide another one down!”
Just annecdotal but when I was in Hawaii the guys on the boats told us the turtles would follow the boats between reefs/islands as safe passage because the sharks didn't like the boat motors.
This looks like turtle plinko.
Were these the Sea Turtle Inc rescues? They had SO MANY turtles from the cold shock.
Release the turtles!
I didn't wake up wanting a sea turtle slip and slide yet now that I got it gotta say my days gonna be a lot better
Pretty bad camera action. Next time follow the turtle to the end of the slide for that great sense of freedom once more. 🤓

This is probably a terrible time to ask the question. Does the ocean temperature change much to warrant a rescue?
Easy to find the answer https://www.livescience.com/sea-turtles-paralyzed-winter-storm.html
Aww 🥺
I'd love to see one of the turtles put up a fight and be like "No! I'm happy where I am! You can't make me go!!"
When they are finally free they will look at one another and say: "well that was fucking weird"
Where can I submit an application to become one of these people helping animals?
Sea Turtle Inc
Why the hell didn’t you watch the turtles slide down the slide?!
True heroes, and the world is a better place because of them.
Please /r/killthecameraman for this shitty recording. The most important thing is to see how they enter the water and swim away. Not one?!
Turtle Sliders. Beautiful sight. Terrible marble racing team.
##And they're off!!
Cowabunga, dudes.
DEPLOY THE TURTLES
Texas. We don’t know shite about snow but we know sea turtles!
Green team go! Other green team go!! Green team with Dave go!...they are all green teams?
No one invited me to the sea turtle release party :(
I was sad seeing they had to be rescued because of the Texas cold snap. I’m glad we have good citizens.

Thank you so much! Entanglements just are the worst for sea turtles. I can’t tell you how many we see drowned with line wrapped around their flippers.

Man, *Takeshi's Castle* got weird...
I like to think the turtles are going " WEEEEEEEE!"
Turtles sad they can only ride slide once.
It's incredible what happens when humans try do good.
I’d like to see this with three or five “I’ve been a good boy” audio tracks laid on.
God damn that's excellent
Mario 64 slide theme plays*
One shark and they are all gone
I can hear them go huuuuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Wait when did we start doin sea turtle slip n’ slides?
"surf's up, little dude!"
It's a turtle water slide
Cameraman sucks IMO.
Beautiful thank you all.
Shouldnt they be spreading out them a bit more. Wont this area be stripped of everything these guys eat?
No. They were all rescued from this area a few days ago.
I am speed
Thanks, I cried
They should have put fast and furious music in the back, change the title, profit.
This momentarily restores my faith in humanity

I guess those VSCO girls did something right after all... and I oop
Imagine it being so cold in the gulf that sea turtles have to be saved hahaha. Texas never had a chance
1 star Uber! This is nowhere near where you picked me up!!
I wanna see the turtle that’s playing the guitar.
Does anyone know the background song? It’s beautiful!

People like them are the people who give me hope and make me want to be a better person.
God bless these people for the work they do.
Big ol fun slide!
YEEET
That looks fun, I want to try
cowabunga...
So fricking cool....looking like a semi-industrialised process in reverse of all the unsustainable plundering of the oceans that takes place.
A turtle has made it to the water
Oba dah wiiiii
In my head they are all saying ''thankkkk youuuuuuu!" as they slide away.
Ever think you have the wrong job? Well, someone is paid to hose a slide while seaturtles go to the ocean.
Plot twist it’s the chute to the meat grinder
I am very glad they showed the bottom of the slide, the horrible cynical part of me kept thinking it just dumped them into a rally big cooking pot.
Must be sweet to get to hurtle a turtle.
Under the sea!!! Under the sea!!!
it's like olympic bobsled
A sea turtle slide? Paging /r/specializedtools
u/savevideo
Did these ladies get to lay their eggs?
"depth charges disguised as turtles. They'll never see this coming"
I like turtles
Yo cameraman - the bit we want to see is THE TURTLES PLOPPING BACK INTO THE WATER. One turtle being loaded on to the slide is enough thanks.
\*Insert Super Mario 64 slide Music\*
You think they took bets on which ones made it to the water first?
They needed to rescue them because the weather became too cold D:?? That's so sad :(
Bless you for your help and love of the turtles!
That's the fastest turtle race I've ever seen
Omg I'm crying. Humans are so wonderful sometimes
