My cat doesn’t even want it when I do it
One of my cats wants to play with it when I'm playing with the other cats. You can see it on his face that he is trying very hard to be all "too cool to play" but we can tell. Occasionally we will walk into a room and catch him playing with the cat toys. He stops as soon as he notices we are there.
Makes me wonder if you could train a cat to fish.
Cool idea, but this cat would just chase the hook into the water right after he cast it.

I had a cat that loved playing fetch... so long as the “target” was a long-handled blush brush he purloined from my make-up bag. At first, it was novel... aiming that brush handle like a dart thrown far across the house and watching him drag it back like a trophy was adorable. Until it was exhausting. He one day realized he could just flick his head up and send that thing flying. Self-sufficient fetch artist, until he landed the thing on top of the ceiling fan or fridge. Miss that crazy cat.

They are filming a trick the cat does to entertain themselves, when nobody is around. The cat is not injured or harmed or in any kind of distress. What's not to say they played with the cat as soon as the camera turned off?
