This dog is on stray hold at the local shelter. I want to keep him and call him Meatball.

What’s a stay hold?
Someone found him and turned him in, so he can't be adopted for five days while they try to find who he belongs to. If they can't find his owner, he goes up for adoption.
He rolled of the vet table...and onto the floor. And then my poor Meatball rolled right out the door. He rolled to the garden, and under a bush. And the my poor Meatball...turned my heart to mush.
Fuck, you just brought back waaaay to many second grade music class memories where I thought I could sing but actually sounded like a seal choking on a kazoo.

I hope he still has some ears. Not uncommon for owners of bully breeds to have their ears and tail cropped to make them look meaner (by what appears to have been a 5 year old, usually.)
I think both practices are cruel but do people usually crop the tail of pitbulls? I'm trying to picture it and it seems out of place

I don't get why people are so cheap to not microchip their pets. It's 75 dollars to chip your dog...... Get your pets microchipped.
My neighbors have a morbidly obese bull dog names Beau that my 2 year old son has nicknamed meatball! I keep telling my husband the next dog we get had to be named meatball just for our kiddo haha. It’s adorable though whenever we’re outside he will stand at the end of the driveway and yell meatball where are you! Moral of the story is adopt him, love him and name that baby meatball!

Meatball is adorable! One question, though ... Why the hell are there SO MANY pit bulls? They make up 70% or 80% of the dogs at the shelter where I live. They're great dogs and all, but sheesh. Perhaps they get a bad rep for being overly aggressive not because they are overly aggressive but because the vast majority of dogs in urban areas are pit bulls so when someone gets attacked in an urban area where it's likely to make the news, its also likely to be by a pitbull.
About 20 years ago, they became in demand, and every white trash jackhole heard he could get $1500 per puppy. I was with my white trash sibling when one of their white trash friends burst in espousing how rich he could get with no effort.
You can imagine how things went from there.
Hope his owner finds him. If he is really a stray I hope he is well loved and better taken care of (safety wise) by the new owner.

Yep, I’ve seen it before. Silver pits are prone to bad skin and allergies, which can result in obsessive licking. Which leads to red and irritated skin.
If you don’t save meatball I want to save meatball Edit. Meatball is a $1500-2500 round trip plane ride away, or 16 hours of driving give or take and they do not know his temperament with other dogs. I really wanna save him but I am not sure if it’s feasible. And for those who are gonna blast temperament because pit, that’s not what I mean at all. Lots of strays or shelter dogs do much better as an only dog due to not properly being socialized when younger

Guys I can't adopt him, my landlord wont let me have any more pets 😭 I will definitely keep an eye on him until he gets adopted though. I'm sure he wont be at the shelter for long.
