Nice DLR- but serious question, was this a Mullets Only Competition? Because I would pay to go to that.
I like to think of labelling mine as a Mohawk-mullet. It sounds less stupid (while simultaneously sounding much more stupid)
But yes.. there were countless mullets. Australia lol
Congrats on submitting Joe Exotic
"The Baskins send their regards."
God...having been a white belt almost 20 years ago, I can’t fucking IMAGINE how much better you guys are today. A fucking DLR back take!? At a white belt Comp?? Let alone one that’s clearly in the fucking sticks somewhere (no offense...see: Hairstyles. Cross reference: Jumping to conclusions)...congrats to you on the back take and congrats to the BJJ community that we’ve elevated the game so much since the old days.
Haha it’s funny, my second opponent I pulled dlr again and his corner was just saying “you know this, you know this” so he didn’t panic and just calmly crushed my dlr (i still won tho haha)
I wish I were around to have seen the pioneers though! Most current phase of fancy new techniques is probably the wrestlers like Nicky Rod I guess
Well to his credit Theo Von's only just starting out
He said he’d done wresting for years, only done gi bjj for a few months though
I sure couldn't hit that at white belt!
Thanks! But I’ve trained for basically 3 years though
Corona haircuts getting wild, dude!
Am so jealous of these yanks being able to hit the mat, everything has been shut in the uk for too long
I’m in Aus, comps been running since the end of last year
mans mullet game just wasnt strong enough
My mullet counteracted his just enough! Even though his was longer
You fighting your brother?
That’s funny, we were both quite similar in a few ways
Both have terrible insomnia (getting to sleep at 6am)
Both stupid haircuts
Both came from a video game nerd background
And his competition performance was literally the exact same as my last competition performance (losing gi quickly and then getting choked unconscious via guillotine early in the nogi hours later)
You lost in the mullet competition though
And here we see the guard puller in his natural habitat...
I say that in jest, nice back take man! Very smooth!
Haha I’m gonna pull guard until I am better at takedowns, the ultimate goal is that because my top game is a little better, but for now is guard pull
I live in sweden.
I havent seen a mullet AT ALL in like 20 years.
Anyway Nice backtake!!
Many many people in these competitions here have that kind of haircut
And a lot of general people in Aus get mullets just because it’s funny (we are quite self aware of how stupid they can look)
I was watching this hoping you weren't the guy with the mullet. Very happy!
Nice technique bruh 🤙
I reckon my haircut is the most practical haircut for athletes
This is fucking sick dude, I also love DLR
Works so well against white belts doesn’t it haha
And my girlfriend is complaining about my covid rat tail...
Give her one while she’s asleep, then she will see how much you appreciate her despite her having a rats tail! 10/10 relationship advice
Tiger King didn't stand a chance
This can only be one of the southern states in the USA or Australia
listen, i'm real happy for you, but everything in this clip was hilarious
Haha, what was hilarious? The haircuts? Lmao
I thought that kid from the movie Gummo would be tougher.
Real sneaky like.
So when you got to the back... Was it a party?
It was me being very glad he gave the choke up a few seconds after because man I was sooooo dead from my pointless weight cut
You’re way too good to be a white belt... btw nice DLR :)
I wish, but not yet. I lost a comp just a month ago in the first round to the eventual winner. Thanks for the compliment though!
Well the other guy kinda fell into it :D
The gameplan was bolos, he just reacted in a way where it gave that instead
Got the choke shortly after, went on to win my next match via kimura before then pulling out of the competition due to feeling like death (accidentally did a 4kg weight cut lol)
I recognize that ref! He's ref'd some of my matches before, you must be South East Queensland area right?
The comp was in Byron Bay, but I am based in Coffs Harbour and Sydney. Do you know the ref’s name? I was wondering who he was bc I assume he’s a legit black belt himself (like many refs are)
Pulling requires just as much footwork and timing as a takedown. Make the angle and then pull. The way you did it is asking for them to push down your leg and go into that nearside knee cut Leg drag/smash pass. Levi is probably the best guard puller at around your size so definitely a good role model.
Yeah, I was counting on my guard retention. The guy told me he had done wrestling for years so I didn’t want even a second of standup
I didn't know that Theo Von studies the dark arts of Brazilian Jiujitsu
Inspiring stuff. Great work man
Nicely done, props!
Mullet 🆚 Mohawk. 🤘🏽::headbang::
So the other guy made the mistake of stepping onto the mat with an inferior mullet. What a white belt move
No amount of business upfront was going to save him
the second it popped up i knew it was australia lol...
incredible move to pull of smoothly at white!
Amazing micro adjustments bro.
The Jiu Jitsu was good. The haircuts were better. Salute you glorious mulleted bastards.
Dude...clean as a whistle and sharp as a thistle. I can’t hardly believe white belts are hitting complex guards and moves. I should go train....
+100 for defeating the mullet
Gary Tonon’s a white belt?
How is Theo?
This east or west coast?
TF are y’all brothers doing with your hair there?
was really hoping you were gonna be the bloke with the sick mullet
Beautiful man. Nice job and keep it up.
I couldn’t stop staring at that mullet the entire match
I stopped training in a gi years ago when I was a blue belt, because I always found it so damn claustrophobic compared to nogi. But I don’t remember many white belts, if any, hitting this back then. Nicely done!!
Take the back and then party in it
Good job. That other fellow needed a good back step
I was expecting a backstep, then it would be bolo time
But nah he just gave me deep dlr instead
This was my favorite back take in the gi and probably still is as a blue belt lol
I hate the hair in the bjj community. Good shit on the DLR though. Looked sick
I swear at least mine looks a bit better in person than in that vid
I think you needed a few more micro adjustments but otherwise pretty good.
Not a single person wearing a mask. Was “the other day” 2 years ago?
There’s been no covid in regional NSW for like 8 months
