Cat: what is this called?
Owner: it’s called open floor space.
I get my own cat tree????
I used to volunteer at a shelter, I thought it was insane when I came in one day to find out the night before we had received 39 cats from a horder, in this case the tenents had been evicted and brought all the cats over in their SUV.
I remember caring for the kitties, we lost a few but the shelter was able to adopt out all surviving kitties but 2 in a short period of time.
Happy to hear you're able to help this bunch out.
Why is it always a hoarder that has a million neglected cats?
I want to keep seeing posts on this subreddit about these cats being rescued until the very last one. I need some good daily pick-me-ups.
Agreed. The constant stream of "my poor sweet Felix has died, send some love!" posts always make me sad.
This was the second post I noticed today about 130 cats being rescued so I had to have a nosey through your profile ... I can't believe how someone could live like that. Some of them are absolutely beautiful and it's terrible to see some of them in the condition they're in.
Hoarding is a mental disease. When my mother started getting dementia, she started hoarding things. The worst thing was when she had 11 cats and expected to keep all of the five kittens. Thank goodness we were able to convince her to let people adopt the kittens. She would take in every stray cat and kept stealing her neighbor’s cat because she thought it was hers because it hung around her house so much. People who hoard animals don’t think they are hurting the animals. They are convinced that if they didn’t “take care” of the animals, no one would. It’s a very sad situation for the animals.
Once I get my job and move out of my parent's house, I want that booboo eye'd ginger.
Maaaan that's a lot of cats. I get she was a hoarder and all but like, where did she keep them?
It was more like they kept her. Check out the previous posts. On an empty stomach.
Congratulations, Romeo! My Audrey was rescued from a hoarding situation too, and she’s the happiest, sweetest kitty.
She is probably very happy/grateful to be living in a nice warm caring home... a big difference from her previous situation...
Thank you for saving them and getting them a chance for a good life.
Oh this warms my heart! Thanks for posting!
On one level that would be heaven but I know this definitely wasn't the case.
I adopted 2 bonded kitties in November who came from a house with 60 other animals. They were essentially feral and were absolutely terrified of my husband and I. With time, space and patience (and treatsssss) one of them is now my little grey shadow who can’t get enough bum scritches, and although the other one still doesn’t want to be touched he hangs out with us and him and his kitty bro are so happy and healthy and rambunctious!!!
He looks like my boy, Biscuit. He came from a house with 130 cats. We had him for 17 years and he was the best. Never a litter problem, never a too needy problem, he was my spouse's best boy and we miss him every day.
I’m so glad you are already finding homes for these cats. They must find everything very overwhelming. ❤️ I wish them the best of luck!
romeo is gorgeous :)
130 cats in one house? How many were dead or really sick?
We’ve lost three and there was several dead ones.
Where is your shelter?
130?! In **one** house??
Those affectionate eyes 😭😭😭❤️
He definitely looks like a lover
What’s the name of the shelter? I am too far away to adopt but would like to make a donation.
Do you have an update on the cats in pics 7 and 13 from [this post?](https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/mz6urn/my_mondays_been_busy_so_far_weve_been_at_a_womens/)
I don’t know why but they’re the two I find my self thinking about over and over again.
I don’t have a picture of them yet but they are doing better. The one just has a scar above his eye.
HE A GOOD BOY
I'm another who had to look at your posts and for what it's worth, watching what you've gone through for these animals breaks my heart. Thank you for everything you've done for them.
When I was looking to adopt a cat I went to a shelter who had taken a huge amount of horder cats. They had over a hundred from just one house so like this scenario. Let me tell you, these cats were feral. Even the very young kittens were completely out of control. It was complete bedlam inside this shelter like nothing I've ever seen.
The shelter was being run out of a residential house and I applaud them for taking on those cats and trying to rehab and home them. As much as it broke my heart I could not take one of these cats into my house. They were just too wild. Too crazy. I would not be able to rehab such a creature to live a normal domestic cat life.
Seriously, if you take in a cat from a situation like this you are an absolute f'n Saint. I hope Romeo and the others have a great life and are loved.
Sending hugs and love sweet Angel!!! Many blessings to you!!!! ❤️🥰🙏🏽
Mental illness is some shit. I remember one episode of "**Hoarders**" where an elderly woman, obese, sick, had cats and refuse all over every room in the house. *I won't tell you what she did with her adult diapers, but you can guess.* When volunteers cleaned out one of the bathrooms, they found a dead cat that had dried to the bones. The woman exclaimed, *"****Oh, Ralphie, I was looking for you for so long!****"*
And that folks, is the state of the elderly in the US. The same place where half the people don't want Universal Healthcare.
So happy for Romeo!
Hope he gets the loving home he deserves!! :)
We adopted a cat that was part of a hoarding case. His name was “#17” on the initial vet intake paperwork they gave us. He was anemic from a flea infestation. He’s a sweet boy. Lots of quirks and likes his hiding spaces but continues to come out of his shell and has learned to give and receive affection.
Holy crap. 10 cats is a lot. 130? At least they don’t have a mouse problem?
Happy for Romeo and the others that were liberated from a bad situation.
OMG! I thought at first that you meant over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge... 😊. So glad he's got a good home!
I am soooo happy for Romeo 🤗
Thank you to all involved in this important endeavor. Much appreciated!
Thank you for everything you’ve done to help all of these kitties. I’ve been scrolling through your profile and this situation has me in tears but there is hope for the babies you have saved. So happy for little Romeo. He looks exactly my baby boy.
Congrats to Romeo!
He looks like a sweet boi! Hoping he and the others get the love they deserve. Thanks for being there for them.
So sweet. Glad u made it out
Good luck, Romeo
Romeo is very handsome
How does one hoard 130 cats? I feel like you wouldn't be able to walk around that house and I can only imagine the smell (I don't think they had enough litter boxes) and how do you feed that much cats? O.O I have so many questions.
They aren't taken care of properly—they starve or die from illnesses. It's a pretty horrible situation.
So glad he gets to start fresh!
Hi OP! is this story in the news or is there somewhere I can read more on this hoarding story? breaks my heart to see this cats living like that (i browsed through your other posts)
My kitties were also rescued from a hoarding situation. They were very shy for the first couple of months after I got them but they've grown into a couple of chatty, cuddly boys!
Where are you located? I am in Denver and am thinking about adopting another cat.
He’s beautiful! Such expression on that cute face :)
He's gorgeous! thank you for saving all those kitties!!
I adopted a kitty from a rescue. He had been there two years. I found out he was from a rescue of 200 cats from a hoarder in the SFBA. He was about five years old and died three years later from some heart issues. He was very friendly and it was amazing to see his coat improve and personality blossom over the first few months.

Ohhhh good luck Romeo!!!
May he have a long and comfortable life in his Forever Home ...
If there was ever a nose made for booping that is it right there
Lmao someone just messaged me to call me a submissive sissy slut.
You are an amazing human! Thank you for saving all of those babies from that horrible home. I’m sure they will all get adopted just like Romeo ♡
I wish I lived close by, I would love to adopt one of these poor babies to give them a good home. What a sad situation, thank goodness you got them all. I just went through your posts and the situation is absolutely heartbreaking.
It takes a ton of time and patience, but my own former hoarder cat is such a sweetheart. She’s sleeping on my lap as I type this. She’s a work in progress with some of the anxieties she still has but she’s so much better after having her for a year.
OP is a saint. Truly wonderful work you do.
>a part of the 130 cats rescued from a hoarder.
JESUS CHRIST WHAT?
Ngl I thought a forever home meant heaven for a second
But very nice, very wholesome
You're so good. Thank you.
Thank you for saving the kitty! You’re a good person OP! 🥰
I have three dogs and thought I had a problem... Yikes.
At least you know all the cats are likely to get along with other cats...
I thought that the back of the carrier was a crown on his head.
Romeo looks like a good kitty 🥰
Thank you so much for the work you do. With the help of a local rescue to do the transport, I convinced a lady in my neighborhood to get 9 of her cats fixed at a spay/neuter clinic. It was a population explosion waiting to happen and I’m so relieved it’s done now.
This cat looks exactly like my cheesy boy Cheeto. So crazy!! What a cute cheese loaf you have!
For anyone wondering we’re in Enid Oklahoma
He is so beautiful 🥰
Omg. Those poor cats. Hopefully the rest find good homes
Awww, that’s too bad, I would like to help, looking for a cat.
Your local shelter will have plenty of good kitties looking for homes!
Look at that beautiful face. I'm so happy for him save at last. 😻😻😻
We rescued two cat from a hoarding situation of 80 cats. That seemed a lot, but 130, good grief.
He looks so precious!
He's beautiful 🥺
He looks pretty healthy tbf
