I love how earnestly corny the show can be about karate matches. People get into serious fights and it turns into a karate battle because, well, this is based on the Karate Kid, after all! I love when shows go all-in and don’t act too self-aware about its tropes.
"Because Karate" is the logic here and I, too, love it.
The only problem with this is that the fight occurred on the first day of school meaning there wouldn’t be any tests.
I've had teachers test us day one because they sent us the syllabus over the summer in high-school.
