Robert Baratheon was very adamant about killing all Targaryens. In retrospect we can say it was an hobby of his, since that name had no effect on the Seven Kingdoms.
The last Targaryen was cool with being exiled to the now useless and redundant wall after killing the second to last Targaryen because: "she was a killer!".
In fairness, claiming Jon was his bastard was the only way to divert suspicion from him being Liara’s child. If he’d have just claimed Jon was a random child he decided to adopt people would have questioned it way more.
And then in fairness again, bastards usually go to the wall, it’s what they do. It was Jon’s choice to leave, Ned just didn’t stop him, and if anything he would be safer from anyone who might suspect him as a Targaryen there than in Winterfell.
Cat would never have stood for Ned treating Jon as a natural born son. While she lived Ned would never have been able to give him lands or titles so when Jon decided to go to the Wall himself, Ned probably thought it was the lesser evil to let him.
He had no way of knowing the threat that was gathering in the North, he probably thought Jon was in for a simple long life of standing on cold towers and killing a few wildlings.
Why the hell did they name Jon Aegon, when that’s literally the same name as his half brother?
So is Rheagar just an uncaring father, or is Lyanna a spiteful mother? Or are the show writers just that stupid?
This was the first sign of it all going to shit. Why on Earth would Rhaeghar name his son the name of his other son.
Jon's name is going to be Aemon of I will eat my shorts.
My gf and I were also doing a re watch (first watch for her) while season 8 was being aired we were in season 3. By the end I told her I’m sorry I dragged her into it and it’s not worth finishing
Haha it’s like I’ve completely wiped GOT from my memory then a meme pops up and I’m refilled with the original disappoint, anger and confusion from 2019.
Lyanna: His name is Aegon Targaryen. Promise me that you'll protect him. Promise me...
Ned: Ok. I promi...Wait. Isn't his brother's name already Aegon? Why would you name him that? That's dumb.
I always wondered why Ned didn't tell Cat that Jon wasn't actually his son in absolute secrecy. He didn't have to tell her the Targaryen or even Lyanna bit, but he should've. Cat probably would've understood that no one could ever know and why Ned had to lie for all those years, and Jon would've had a happier upbringing
I still can't believe they fucked up this show so God damn bad! Seriously, how did this happen? How can you screw up something so good, so fast. Can we just remove the last two seasons and re-write everything. I'm sure the free folk here can write something phenomenally better.
I absolutely loved this scene, especially with the build up of the bad-ass fight with Arthur Dayne and his two swords. And when Bran breaks through the time barrier to call out for his Father. Young Ned was spot on. Poor Lyanna, it broke my heart when she died and I cried a lot, especially when they reveal Jon as the music swells. For me it's up there with Hold the Door in heartbreaking GoT moments, AND IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING!!! FUCK YOU D & D
This is what bugs me about this sub. There are enough things to be upset about without just completely ignoring some consequences and making shit up to be mad about.
The dumbest thing they ever did. Like what? They could have made more people find out and that’s why they started to give power/attention to John.
John could have not knelt to Danny and screamed “ma queeeeennnnnn” every other line like a normal character would have. I might get flak for this but it was honestly all about appeasing the “female power” crowd which in the end they pissed off. Those people wanted a boring un GOT ending with Danny winning

I know one when I see one
I'm still so bitter. This pandemic I've re-watched all my favorite shows but not GoT. I get mad just thinking about it.
It's so amazing they managed to retroactively destroy what was one of the greatest pieces of media ever made.
It makes it worse that i actively sat and waited 2 whole years for this shit to come out.. We were robbed
"His name's Aegon Targaryen. Protect him..." "I'm going to treat him like a bastard and send him to the wall."

"Don't worry, he dun wan it."
She's muh quen

I’m gonna have to go with C.
Fuck D&D

Aemon of house I will eat my shorts and king of the north.
Ned lied to his wife for 20 years so nothing could happen.
No, nowy tends.
How naive we were
Fat legolas reuniting with frodo
The sad thing is that whomever cast young Ned was a genius.
"Seriously, sistah, you're naming him after yer dead husband's dead ex-wife's dead infant child?"
My gf and I were also doing a re watch (first watch for her) while season 8 was being aired we were in season 3. By the end I told her I’m sorry I dragged her into it and it’s not worth finishing
Hope this bangs
*they
Please stop posting these memes. I die inside everytime I remember what they did to the show.

"and now this plotline begins." "nuuh... Nowwytends."

it was only ever used as a tool for Danny to become the insano-kween
Captain insano-kween shows no mercy.
The realization of R+L=J is still chill inducing.
Like a frozen bad dragon toy chills the dark depths of my unlubricated rectum
I demand a remake. If we all get enough money together they have to do it. Do ten remakes, make it happen gods.
Game of Plot Holes

Sam only gave half a shit which made it worse
The biggest reveal in the shows entire run was Jon telling the remaining Starks who he was and how Ned protected him. And they didn’t even show it.
And then he got into Adele and fucked David’s life
Mfw Jon didn't live a fairytale ending :o
Last of his name
This really brings home how fucking unsatisfying the plotline was. God dammit
The lord of light probably facepalmed after bringing jon back and seeing what he did with his second life...

I am currently watching Lindsay Ellise's video essays on the subject of S8 and god I forgot ho bad it was.

Dany sure cared. She was willing to kill over it. Then she knew she had to rule by fear once the lords of Westeros knew he was the rightful heir.
This is what bugs me about this sub. There are enough things to be upset about without just completely ignoring some consequences and making shit up to be mad about.
This *clearly* had an impact going forward.
Daenerys had
This pisses me off so much
Just rewatched this episode last night. So infuriating!
So true lol
Ugh I’m still really salty about this show :(

😭😭
My god I cringe since hours because of that 😂
protect this boy, for we named him Targaryen McDragon
D&D are gonna make sure nobody gives a shit about that* you mean?
I've carried my h8 quietly for a long time, but this one... This one hurt
He's the Targaryenest person I've ever met. I know a tiny pecker when I see one.
Why am I still angry about this.
We'd like to have given a shit but it was ruined by those who must not be named, D-D
Ugh. Enraged all over again now. Damnit.
No one other than some baldy with no cock
Holy shit young Ned is played by the same guy who played Rob in Behind Her Eyes!!!
