You may keep it longer. Im still playing an my old white hot #1..
It’s the only putter I’ve ever owned. And it’s 15 years old.
OP: I'll not buy another putter for 5 years.
(Morgan Freeman voiceover) Though he tried, and resisted. He could not stop the inevitable. Putters were bought, many, many putters. But none compared to White Hot #1. Still he remembers those early days, simpler times. Nowadays, old #1 gets pulled out once in a while but he inevitably realizes he needs to buy more putters. It's not because he needs them, but because he wants them.
This was too good😂
Live it up bud. Golf gets expensive after high school.
Seriously. In HS you play 9 holes every day and 18 many weekends. Around where I lived you could get a junior membership at the muni for like $100 all summer.
Spread the price out over the years you’ll use it and you’ll find it’s not all that expensive in the long run. Clubs are an investment. As long as you don’t quit playing you’ll get the value you paid 10x over out of it
Agree 100%, it's how I look at my clubs as well. My dad played Ping Eye 2's for 25+ years and played great with them. Treat em nice and they'll last as long as you want to play them.
Have the same one and I love it. Enjoy!
Oh 69 tittie you out did yourself this time
After reading the post on "grease missiles" at the turn, I read the putter as white hotdog. Good investment 👌
That’s awesome man, enjoy the experience! One of my regrets is not following through to join my highschool team. Coach was my bio teacher but I talked myself out of it 🤷🏻♂️. You’re on your way to great things
Congrats man! Have fun!
5-10 years? I'm still using my putter from 20 years ago.
Congrats! I’m still playing a 2001 2 ball white hot - hopefully you get many years out of this putter
Beautiful putter man only thing to do now is practice!
I must have read “White Dog” five times before I realized this wasn’t some sort of Odyssey knock off.
My varsity treat and first “real” club purchase was the original White Hot #2. Played that for 15 years. Congrats!
Still have my Oddyssey I played my last two years on my high school team ... ‘95 and ‘96.
(Also the Ping Anser I played the first two years)
Good job, kid! 😉
I read it as White Hog for far too long.
Man, I thought it said white hot dog but🤷♂️
Switches it out next time he three puts
Congrats on making the team, if I could go back to high school I would have definitely tried out
I’m still playing with my ping zing and Nike irons that I got in high school.
TLDR. You’ll probably be poor in your 20s and have kids in your early 30s. Buy up now, cause it could be a while.
OG stands for original gansta.
Putt well with it... and remember, when the 4 putts come... its not the putter.
Fairways and greens my friend.
Congratulations. High school golf is the gateway to college golf.
Wait...are the people who *don’t* know what OG means?
Happy cake day!
Congrats!! They’re lucky to have you on the squad!
15-20 years bro.
I hope so!
Congrats on making the team! Fun times ahead making lifelong friends and great road road trips. Away matches are the best. Enjoy the ride(s).
Putters are timeless man..you could play that your whole life
I still use my Ray Cook mallet putter from my high school team and I'm pushing 40. Congrats. Enjoy every second of the golf team. Great times.
Great choice! I’ve stuck with the #7 head style for a long time
I bought a putter that I wanted, loved the feel and the look. Been using it for 15 years already and don’t see it going anywhere.
Nice! High School golf was the best. It really improved my game at the time, and was just overall fun. Hope you have some good years ahead of you.
I just bought that same putter and I love it so much. Just love it.
Same, it feels great and I feel a lot more confident with it
Pretty critical to like what you're looking down at when standing over a putt, if you don't like it you won't have confidence in it. Good buy in my opinion. Congrats on making the team, get after it!
I still have the old brass Ping Anser models. Keep this one even if you get a new one. You could always pull it out in the future to cure possible putting woes.
Congrats. And I've had my putter since 2012 which is I'm assuming about when you started school. Lol
Congratulations! Have fun out there
Wow way to outshine my post yesterday about the used 2 ball putter I got😂 congrats on making the team and enjoy your new putter
Hey man, you just got a full bag of fitted irons😂
Been playing over 10 years with my first gen White Hot. Love it so much!
I always have a #7 around. The OG white hots and this new line are all that and a bag of chips. Putt straight with it and have fun! Miss my high school team
Congratulations! Awesome putter, too.
I still rotate in my Odyssey Dual Force 330 that I got when I was a freshman in high school (I am 34 now).
I’ve been staring at it for 5 hours now
Congrats man! Being on the golf team in high school was one of my favorite experiences. Enjoy it
Even high school kids have turned their backs on The Way of The Blade???
I really like how the blade putters look, but this just felt so much better!
Nice choice! Still using my WH #5 from ‘03! Made a lot of putts and missed a lot more but it was never the putters fault.
Just learn hot to pick up a give’me with a backward flit of a wrist. That always impresses. I cans do it with my two-ball and I’ve always felt like I’ve missed out.
I’ve been practicing that more than my actual shots!
Probably, since Callaway haw been using this for 20 years /s
Congrats! Should get a lot of use, and I hope you have fun on the team.
Great looking putter! Congrats on making the team! It's a really big deal!
I would warn that you shouldn't go away from what works for you. So be careful!
But again, CONGRATS!
is this the stroke lab version of the putter?
Yes it is!
Respect. I got a putter after I made state for the first time. Hands down was my most prized possession for the rest of high school. Enjoy it
Careful, that's what the all say...
My putter is the only club from HS golf that I still have in the bag, 20 yrs now. Good luck!
Good job kid! I play the same Anser 4 I had in high school so you might rock that for a long time. I’m 44
Putters are really the only clubs that can gain value over time. I've had my Slighter for 10 years, felt expensive at the time, but it's value has gone up 3x and I'll still never sell it.
I think you'd be in for a reality shock if you actually did try to sell it. No collectability in that brand due to no name recognition.
I also played a #7 during high school varsity golf. It was the “L” version (long) back in the day when belly putters were still legal. Good memories. Enjoy it!
Nice purchase, now go practice with it. Looking back on high school golf I shudder at how many strokes I lost putting
Have I been missing all those six footers because I’m using an expired putter?
You spelled 5-10 rounds wrong.
Congrats! High school golf team is so great. I think it’s some of the most fun you can have playing golf, and the free 9 holes everyday ain’t bad either
Is that a Billy Baroo? Nice
Putters last forever as long as you can hit it! Good luck on high school team
So excited they couldn’t wait to get out of the car until they took the picture, man I miss being that happy lol. Jokes aside congrats on making the team bro, grip it and rip it hombre 🤟🏼
Congrats on making the team. Make some sweet skills and memories!
Well this feels nostalgic. When I was in high school I saved up from my summer job and when I made the golf team that fall I bought a Scotty Cameron Newport 2. I figured it was an investment and told myself I could use it for 10 or so years. That was back in 2010 and aside from some minor blemishes that baby still rolls the rock like a gem. Congrats on making the team, that's a well deserved reward.
Nice! I’m waiting for mine to come in. Which shaft did you get it with?
I got the stroke lab one, but the standard one felt good aswell
And I just got cut from mine :)
Good luck buddy and wish you all the best!
That's not a reward, that's an investment! I hope it brings you many one putts
I’ll likely be trying that one and many others soon! Congratulations on the team and great attitude!
Enjoy golf team man, walking the course with my friend and two kids from another school gave me some of my best chill moments in high school.
Nice! Ive got a 2011 Odyssey No 1 that ive used the entire time. Still love it.
That's the spirit man! As a former HS golfer, my unsolicited advice to you is intentionally try to enjoy every practice, match, swing, and moment with your teammates.
I've had an Odyssey White Hot blade for over a decade now and still absolutely love it. Brilliant putters
Goddamn I’m jealous. Just blew a bunch on a used set (minus the putter) earlier this year so my wife will freak if I blow any more on a new putter. My beat up odyssey is doing me just fine though.
For those that are curious, $219 on Callaway website.
This is the stroke lab one so it was actually about $270, but yea the standard one was 219
I've just bought this, having swapped from the original white hot #1 from 15 years ago.
It's been great to me so far!
Congrats, some of the best memories of my life
Congrats on making the team!
Ah yes. The lie we all tell ourselves. “I’ll be using this for 10 years!”
*Buys 6 drivers over the next 4 months*
Well done, sir, for making it into the team. May you play well. Most importantly, be thankful and happy everytime you stand on that first tee.
5-10 years may even be on the low side (unless you go pro!) I’m still using an original 2 ball
Did anyone else think this was some kind of next gen game controller?
Nice putter. The white hot line has such a great feeling.
Though be aware that the white inlay deteriorates over time (which cannot be refurbished; only replacement of the inlay was an option for me and it was not easy to find a club maker that does that) and strike consistency will take a hit.
For me the inlay was unusable after 2 years as it became concave; my consistency became really shitty as the. The ball either bounced more or went of line right off the face.
Periodically check the face from the side; you will not notice it by just looking from the top.
Good job! Cherish every moment and every match.
Enjoy HS golf man. I played on my team for 6 years and still have 6 lifelong friends because of it. Greatest choice of my life.
Congrats!!! I coach hs golf and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the kids play well and improve.
Also this is the logic I use to justify every golf purchase, even tho I know next year is going to bring another haha. You should have heard my conversation in the mirror when I bought a scotty, still 3 putt sometimes...
Been using my putter for 15 years
Putters are a disease. Some catch the bug and can’t stop buying them, others never catch the disease because they have the antibodies naturally that prevent infection.
I personally buy them all the time. I putt very well so it doesn’t make much difference which one I use, I just like buying new putters. Like I said.....it’s a disease!!
I have 2 that I consider my old faithfuls and I use them in tournaments. One of them is an Odyssey 2 ball putter that is around 15 years old and the other is a Scotty Newport 2 that is probably 12 years old. Depending on how I feel I’m rolling it lately I choose one of these when I go to war. The others are great putters, some of them I prob actually putt better with, but nothing compares to Helga (2 Ball) and Lucinda (Scotty) when the pressures on. (Yes, I name all my putters so when I put them in timeout they can be addressed by their name and told why they are going to timeout in the dark closet)
Good luck with your season! Hope you hit the fairways, greens and make so many one putts the price of that putter no longer matters!
I don’t think it will matter if I catch the disease or not if I don’t have the money to buy one :). That’s a smart idea though if I have multiple putters to rotate I never have to blame myself! I’m going to name my putter now. Do you name your other clubs?
I have my white hot #5 from almost 20 years ago too. Never even thought about getting another putter this whole time
I must be doing something wrong. 20 years with a putter? Mine don't last 20 minutes before I'm sifting through my putter boneyard.
Just like a wild winged dove!
I have the red one with the same shape. Great putter.
Congrats! No more three puts!
had my 2-Ball White Hot for 15+ years and I don't see any reason to buy something new
Man. If it suits you I had a putter for 25 years. Finally upgraded to a scotty last year.
Good luck and have fun this season
But you remind me of when I got my Newport 2 TEL3; I figured I'd trade it out in a couple of years just because. That was 30 years ago...
Congrats! and Nice Putter!
Had my odyssey for 12 years before I bought a stroke lab odyssey. Very good putters for sure!
Still playing my White Hot #5, so you should be good for another 20 years I'd say.
My current putter is 20yo... When you find one that works, you keep it.
What’s the golf season up where you live? In socal it’s usually February to April.
We just started and it’s 5 weeks
Bought one of those myself last week!
Why doesn’t odyssey just go back to the white hot insert on all their putters instead of all this micro hinge crap. Just got my 10 2ball to replace my if two ball and although I like the new insert more than the full micro hinge I’d much rather just a white hot face
So this is the kid that inspired so many other redittors to go out and buy a new putter? Now that you mention it, I have been looking for a 2021 putter to go along with my 2020, 2019 and 2015 putters....
yo mama driving you to and fro bro?
Congrats! Stick with it. More college golf scholarships than almost any other sport. Have myself a putter just like that, it shall serve you well.
This is an old wives tale and not true in the least. Men's teams have about 2 scholarships and usually, the best player gets one, and the rest of the team shares pieces of another.
If this dude just made his hs team, he's not getting one of those fulls - there are 12-year-olds shooting in the 60's that will be getting those.
Should have got a Scotty.
True, if I’m making an investment in a putter I’m not getting a white hot where the face will pop out and scuff up in a few years. I’m getting a SCOTTY. I still have scotties that are 20+ years old, inherited from my old man, and they’re still beautiful.
Way to go!
Don’t have many regrets but definitely wish I picked up golf in my youth. Go get um!
Congrats on making the team, enjoy all the free golf while you can!
I did the same thing when I made my HS team. 10 years later I still have my Odyssey F-7. Only thing I've done is gotten it regripped
