Amina Ependieva has two rare genetic conditions: albinism and heterochromia. The former is a condition that reduces the amount of melanin pigment in the skin, eyes, hair, while the latter is a difference in colouration of the iris. The two conditions together make this young girl extremely unique.

In response to the highly upvoted complete fake "viking axe post". This is an actual viking axe. Found on Gotland, Sweden. Dated to the 900's. No need to fake it when the actual thing looks this good.

The photo that illustrates the class divide in pre-war Britain, 1937. It almost looks staged; but it wasn’t. The two Harrow pupils were waiting to be picked up and the other three boys had decided to skip school after visiting the dentist.

Photo of the last sword duel to take place in France, between politicians Gaston Defferre and Rene Ribiere in 1967. Defferre yelled "Shut up, stupid!" at Ribière in the National Assembly so he demanded satisfaction by duel (he lost).

Three young gray whales were trapped by sea ice outside of Barrow, Alaska, 1988. The whales became stranded after they stayed too long in their feeding grounds. Inupiat hunters along with Greenpeace, cut a path through the sea ice with chain saws, leading them back to open water.
