After Minnie Cox, the first black female postmaster, was forced out of her post in Mississippi because she was black, President Theodore Roosevelt continued to pay her salary and punished the town by rerouting their mail 30 miles away. Minnie Cox's salary continued to be paid while the office closed

Mad lad! The Last President to charge into battle with his men.
TR had BALLS!!!!
He really likes Minnie Cox
I love that solution SOOOOO much
Wasn't there a post that the other day that said he was racist?
He was a fervent eugenicist, but when a black person showed they were good at something he respected them as individuals
Teddy was the best
The black population of that town were probably like "what the hell did WE do?"
Trolling before trolling was even a term
Remember how they tore his statue down?
And to thank him we tore down one of his statues
Cancel culture will be the death of everyone. I've heard several folks from former Soviet states say that this is how it all began. Purging of history that doesn't fit the current narrative of double-plus good speak, etc.
TR great
Greatest President we ever had. Hands down.
A man's man. Took a bullet from a would be assassin, immediately went on stage and proceeded to give his 45 minute speech before receiving medical attention. The only elected official I've heard of resign his government job so he could lead his Rough Riders into battle against Spain. He is solely responsible for over 60 million acres of land being national parks
For a man that hated Native Americans, this was nice of him.
Teddy was quite the legend... apart from his excessive big game hunting, which I absolutely do not condone... pretty decent chap.
I wonder if he would still be an advocate of big game hunting given the science we have today. At the time there was probably no stigma behind it, it was just a past time
I love how this whole thread is discussing Teddy Roosevelt instead of the incredibly accomplished Minnie Cox. Let's talk about how amazing she was instead? [http://www.mshistorynow.mdah.ms.gov/articles/421/minnie-geddings-cox-and-the-indianola-affair](http://www.mshistorynow.mdah.ms.gov/articles/421/minnie-geddings-cox-and-the-indianola-affair)
I love Teddy
I love Theodore Roosevelt. My favorite president. ❤️
Ahh the south. Racist as fuck then, racist as fuck now
The South has been getting better though. I'm from the South and I'm barely racist.
Theodore Roosevelt is so polarizing. On one hand he was anti-monopoly, constantly mobilizing against corrupt trusts and the like. On the other hand, he was militaristically imperialist, the phrase “speak softly and carry a big stick” coming from his honestly belligerent foreign policy where he would use the threat of the US military’s might to achieve goals in other nations. He was both incredibly forward thinking and terribly regressive at the same time
Cool, on you Minnie Cox! A woman, and black at that! Superheroes often are average yet extraordinary people, just like Minnie Cox and T. Rooseevelt.
yet his statue was vandalized , fking morons

Minnie cox, mini cocks
Minnie Cox... lol funny name.
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that her name is Mini Cocks lmao
Teddy the Republican. That is a fact.
Yes, who then left and ran for the Progressive party, as a part of the 20th century transformation of what Republican meant.
Back when some Republicans were actually good people
It's been already posted here a few months ago.
I searched her name and nothing came up. My bad
Interestingly, today, if a white person and a black person both apply to a job at United airlines, they will hire the black person over the white person to meet their racial quotas.
Interestingly, they would only have to do that if they haven't even achieved the minimum.
I have been downvoted to oblivion 3 times. With no responses. This man in the picture was a Republican. That is a fact. There is no need to downvote. It won't change facts.
You’re being downvoted because it’s meaningless and adds nothing to the discussion. Are you trying to catch us all in a “gotcha”?
He was a Republican. Yea. So was Abe Lincoln. But the Republican Party back then does not resemble or reflect the modern Republican Party. Neither does the Democratic Party for that matter
His political affiliation is functionally meaningless
YeAh buT THe DeMOcrAtIC AnD RePlublCAn parties SwItChEd.
Lucky you the The Cynical Historian on YouTube is debuting a video on this exact subject at 1PM EST. You could definitely learn a lot from it I’m sure.
I'm conflicted. He's one of my favorite presidents... But he was also racist...but also shit like this...
Don't judge people of the past with current standards. What is racist now might be seen as a norm in the past.
Teddy Roosevelt was a Republican.
also a staunch progressive liberal
Tell me that isn't Stephen Fry!!
That isn’t Stephen Fry
Ahhh yes, a good president. Imagine what life would be like if you had a president who stood on the side of nazis and hatred, spouted lies and false accusations, and had supporters who are racist, stupid and obsessive. Wouldn’t that be embarrassing. Wouldn’t it be? Would it not?
