And Clairo, definitely Clairo
Is there any higher praise in the world than David Bowie saying you're the future of music?
SO THEY COULD WALK 💀 but true
Can someone point me towards her influence on Amanda Palmer?
Or fucking Courtney Love. I mostly listen to Pretty On The Inside and.... just how far you have to go to get there lol?
the first thought i had when listening to drivers license was 'this feels like a melodrama cut'
Yeah she kinda sounds like a Lorde and Billie hybrid sometimes lol
No shade to Billie but when people are all "omg she's so young, this is the first time this has ever happened" I'm like, do y'all not remember when Lorde literally changed the game with her first single and debut album at 16?.
I've never heard anyone say Billie was the first artist to blow up as a teenager. Neither was Lorde lol
Lorde and Lana impact on contemporary music is undeniable.
Funny how there's music before and after Lana and Lorde's impact. The power of these two women...
Lorde definitely seems influenced by Lana's recents this go around. But it's probably just Jack's influence.
Griff is so good y'all, listen to her EP please.
Guys, hear me out. Holly Humberstone.
Yungblud? I mean I love the guy but he seems nothing like Lorde
Which is why it's so weird to me that people (even some in this thread) seem so resentful towards young artists, especially young female artists, that are influenced by Lorde. Y'all want to talk up Lorde's influence on modern music but act as if no one should be making music that's like hers, pick one.
Artists take influences from the artists they enjoy and admire. Even Lorde has her influences: Fleetwood Mac, Cat Powers, James Blake, Grace Jones, Grimes, Kanye West, Kate Bush, Frank Ocean, David Bowie, and many more, and you can hear it in her music and songwriting. That is all a good thing - that's not some fucking crime.
Right? Ugh the shade in the OP. I'm annoyed with this 'everyone influenced by Lorde is just a knock-off' attitude some people seem to harbour.
Why are so many people dragging other female artists here? Sure, it may be easier to hear Lorde’s influence in another woman’s music, but do we really need to be pitting females against other females? I don’t see anybody dragging any of the male artists on this list!
I know she isn’t on there, but I was playing Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift in the car with my mom one day (right before Solar Power dropped) and my mom literally said, “Oh, is this the new Lorde song?” 💀 To be fair, Joel Little did do production for PH and CS, so I don’t know if it’s so much the *influence* of Lorde or just the *essence* of Lorde. But the fact that that style/sound is still popular in the mainstream is no doubt *because* of Lorde’s success
She undoubtedly had an influence, but to imply those artists are mediocre in comparison is a bit puerile.
Lol none of those matter
didn’t prince say something similar or am i mistaken?
Can def feel the impact with Mallrat
This sub-reddit is dedicated to New Zealand artist Lorde. ☀️
