Dude this is so awesome!!!
The Dude, The Nurse, The Weather. Everything is Awesome!
I bet his momma is loving the fact that she can see her child learn to walk all over again.
Tell ya what. My dad had a stroke about 8 years ago and I was loving the fact that I got to watch him learn to walk all over again. He's in his 70s and while not perfect, a bit of a limp, that dude can move! I'm so glad he didn't just pack it all up and call it a life.
Good for him!
Bad ass legs!
Think about messing up with this guy and last thing you remember is his terminator looking leg comming at your face at 30MPH
I hope you find a group!
Stands for let’s fuckin go
Keep crushing it man! Love the progress
They see me rollin'.. they hatin'
Haters gonna hate hate hate hate
Gettin it! Way to go bro thats amazing. Keep pushing.
Compared to the video yesterday, hella progress. This dudes gonna be walkin with a swagger in his step by the end of the week.
Power to you!!! I just had surgery for the first time in my life and I have a new outlook on life. Everyone has their own health hurdles, and to tackle them takes immense courage.
Why is the person standing beside him if he’s not going to help at all when he falls??
That person is most likely a prosthetist and is there to help provide cues and make adjustments. I don’t think it’s a physical therapist as there’s no gait belt. It’s also 100% likely he’s already walked in parallel bars and is confident on flat surfaces. This exercise on uneven ground is a great simulation to show off the technology of his knees. These are microprocessor knees which have onboard motors and gyroscopes to provide hydraulic fluid resistance to make him more stable. These knees also have a feature called stumble recovery. If you watch the video till the end and see him stumble, pay attention to the left knee goes into extension which is the most stable position for the knee. This gives the user the quick chance to catch themselves or brace for impact. In this case he was able to use his hands to absorb the impact. It’s a great exercise the patient will have to experience and learn how to fall safely
That is a long way since yesterday's post congratulations.
I was going to say! That's nuts.
You got this! Keep it up!
Happy Cake Day :D
Actually he's out walking but I get what you mean.
no more excuses for skipping leg day.
What is this like mentally…. Is the hardest aspect the balance or the strength? Coordination, etc. We all take it for granted walking around. Does ur brain say yes, just walk but then the body is like, how? I’m curious. But the progress is fascinating and I’m quite happy for you.
Hi there, certified prosthetist orthotist here: from the patients I’ve fit and heard feedback from, you’re correct on all fronts and it’s a big reaching point to help preserve energy. These legs OP’s wearing are microprocessor knees which have an onboard computer and gyroscopes to help push hydraulic fluid through the piston to provide different knee resistances. Every step he takes the computers are speedily readjusting to provide stability. They also have Stumble recovery features so if the user happens to fall they have the chance to catch themselves. If you watch the video to the end you can see his left knee is extended providing stability and giving him the chance to use his hands to absorb the impact. Learning to fall safely is also important. Whatever technology and advantages we can provide to the patient so they don’t have to use their mental capacity to tell them where there leg is, are they going to fall, etc… is something we strive to meet during fittings. The person in the scrubs may be the prosthetist or a physical therapist to help make any adjustments or provide certain cues when walking. We have to constantly tell patients, squeeze your butt muscles! Head up! Back straight!!
Keep up the great work OP!!! This shit is difficult
Pretty sure your lfg means, "lets fucking go" but the gamer in me was like, looking for group for what?

I’m not an amputee, but I know that losing the knees makes rehab about 100x more difficult. You’re doing amazingly well!
