Convenience store munchies in Japan are next level.
And they usually come out with weird new random creations.
I rememeber having some kind of medium rare roast beef slices with cheese onigiri.
The best is actually the oden. They actually change the broth regularly and the fish cakes are always fresh. The deep fried stuff can stay in the warmer the whole day.
People don't seem to realize in America we have 24hr drive thru and tons of fast food places opening till late. In reality you can probably get even more munchies late at night without spending a lot of money like going to the bar/izakaya type of place. Some convenient stores are also full of drunk people which is not that nice to visit by yourself.
At least where I am, most fast food places close at midnight to 2am.
The pandemic made it worse, but it was already heading in that direction. As a night time truck driver, I've suffered. Lol
Come to Wisconsin, our Kwik Trips are on point, though I'm not quite ready to try gas station sushi.
The 7-11 sandwiches are unbelievable as well. Some delicious breaded chicken ones and ham and cheese.
I’ve never understood though, why you can buy a sandwich that’s cut diagonally (2 halves) that is full egg salad (both halves) or egg salad (1 half) and Tuna salad (1 half) but never Tuna salad (both halves). A question for those wiser than I.
Haha damn. When you get the munchies, you eat a whole 4 course meal. That’s great
Na Japan 7/11s are seriously top class i miss them dearly
I’m curious what this would cost in USD?
They usually go for like a dollar each, so all this might be $10 to $15 maybe.
Jokes on you. I happen to like the forever rolling dried out hot dogs and taquitos on the food warmer, next to the nachos and cheese dispensers.
I have insane cravings for the Monterey chicken when I've missed my meds for a day.
7-11 and Lawsons are the shit in Japan. Most that I saw were open stupid late or all night. Which meant actual convenience was available when you needed it. Was so great. I hope I can visit again.
I was in Japan for about 2 weeks a couple of years ago and I probably ate 7-11 or Lawson's for at least one meal a day because we were constantly on the move.
The only thing you can get at 7-Eleven in my city is hepatitis.
What's in the bags? WHAT'S IN THE BAGS?!?!?
But in reality, it's a clear wrapper over [Onigiri](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW4PCfLzTYA), rice with some filling wrapped with seaweed for handling.
in america all you can buy is an overpriced chocolate bar, some powdered donuts, a 64oz Red Bull, some stale coffee, and a pack of ciggies
Wawa and Bucee's are the exception to the rule, they have genuinely good food. Used to eat at Wawa a couple of times a week before I started working from home.
Man, I miss Japan so much, enjoy these foods for me
Man you didn't get any ice cream bars. The ones they have are next level good.
Also the best place to use your Canadian debit to take out japanese money. So convenient and low fees.
I’ve been too japan twice and the food has take my breath away! I really want to go back and try the
7/11 foods, I’ve seen some videos on YouTube people eating only 7/11 food for a week in Japan lol
Manjuu is my go-to munchy in Japan.
Too bad weed is illegal and very taboo in Japan. Cause they have some of the best munchies food.
Those little triangle shits said my life when i was in tokyo
I still have dreams about this food and can't wait to get back to that country
Teriyaki and cheese fried chicken slices? They were so, so good.
4 musubis?! How hungry are you
Onigiri is the best for breakfast.
What’s the green stuff in the bag?? That all looks so good.
I remember buying an Orange Juice (white carton, picture of an orange on it) at a 7-11 in Tokyo. Without paying too much attention, I opened it, tilted it back, and took a sip. Imagine my surprise when it wasn't OJ, but a clear, orange flavored gel.
“You got the munchies, look at you, junk food junkie
Potato chips and lunch meat, up in the front seat…”
God damn it, I used to live on those fried chicken skewers. I'm not joking when I say it's the tastiest fried chicken I've ever had. I'd probably be munching on them right now if it wasn't for COVID19.
God I miss 7-11 Onigiri. It's just so damn good.
They have sushi at nearly every 7-11 in Japan.
Fun fact: 7-11 started in Ft. Worth, TX, yet it is huge in Japan.
I miss 7 Eleven onigiris! Those tuna ones slap!
So it’s basically good food for like under 1000¥(around 10 dollars)
Gawd I cant wait to go to Japan. It doesnt even seem like a real place lol
Man that onigiri looks so good I miss that so much, I need to go back.
I miss Japan so much. Used to go every year.... fortunately there's now an onigiri stand at my local farmer's market on Saturday!
That's cool and all, but where is the 2 day old jumbo hot dog?
I loved visiting there, i didnt really get the munchies as i didnt have enough weed, when i did finally find some i spent sooo much money there, i love Japanese everything. My cousins found some shitty bud, i had to smoke it all to get baked, but sitting in a park relaxing enjoying the scenes was so nice.
There are 7-Eleven outside the US? We sure don't have any over here in Quebec.
There are more than 20000 7-Eleven stores in Japan alone... And they're awesome.
Oh my god. I miss Japan 711 so much.
They don't have slurpees though....
It took me over a year to notice because I was busy eating my way through the store
As I live in the us, I feel more and more cheated everyday
NGL convenience stores in Japan are awesome. Where I live I can just walk a bit and buy a lot of things easily. More expensive than the usual supermarket, but that's the price of convenience (a bottle of water might cost ¥120 there while in supermarket costs ¥80).
>get the munchies
>weed is forbidden
Except you cant get the munchies because weed is outlawed there!
But yeah the stores are legit. 7 and i holdings is great
This looks extremely unhealthy but tasty.
*ahem* 7 and I Holdings
Anthony Bourdain would be proud...He loved these munchies...RIP Anthony
Dem, that looks like a legit food, not sure if healthy (probably not) but looks tasty at least :D
This is bullshit! Why do we gave such horrible food at the 7-elevens in the USA? Literally the grossest pizza slices, over cooked nasty taquitos, disgusting nachos the chili gives you diarrhea, and their hot dogs that have been cooking all goddamn day on rollers is the best thing they have...
Your food actually looks edible and tasty. Wish we had that stuff here.
Because the American public accepts it
Looks delicious, but also unhealthy af. Haha
Munchies ... only a pothead ever said
I'll take a few of those seaweed enemas if you are done with them
Approximately 8000 calories right there. They don't play around with their fried chicken, haha
I can't recognize any of it.
What are they?
How’s the texture on the fried food? Hoping it stayed crunchy
They usually use starch instead of flour, which makes it crispy rather than crunchy.
That’s it. I’m using vacay time for Japan
The disgusting ¥699 5th of whiskey they have these days is a better bang for my buck.
Get some help
The 7 elevens in Hawaii kick ass in a similar manner. Tons of quality prepared foods; for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
u/MannyAPH everything is pointing towards a return trip!
Secure the bag Abernathy! Hand me one of them Umeshi balloons!
I had a 24h layover in Japan. It was on Sunday, and I forgot to get cash out of the ATMs before leaving the Airport. All the ATMs I could find were in Japanese and I couldn't figure out how to get money out. Roaming around the city, I fed myself at 7-11 because they took my American Express. I still ate well.
Someone asks “Whatcha eating?” And me responding with my classic line: “I don’t know, but it’s pretty good.”
Holy \*\*\*\* that looks delicious
Just about every Japanese combini has food like this available.
Love me the pork buns. Did that in Osaka and Kyoto like mad. Yum!!!
Fuck yes. God I miss konbini onigiri
If there was a place in the world I wouldn't want to "get the munchies" is on Asia
Weed is SO risky there it isn't even worth it
A death sentence is not worth that plate of food. Looks great though
Death sentence? Uh, they don't kill you for smoking weed here. Lotta jail time and then a ban on entering the country? Yeah, but no capital punishment. Sometimes they just straight up kick you out of the country immediately with no/few days of incarceration.
You're thinking of a bunch of the other nutty Asian countries.
I'll skip the what look like bags of aquarium plants if that's OK, but the rest of that looks pretty great right now
Look them up they are called onigiri they are 10/10 amazing
Is that like $60 worth of food?
Nah thats like $15 easy
Stop doing drugs . Just say no
7-11 here in Texas has similar chicken on a stick (sriracha, even) that's pretty darn good. Looks like pretty standard Japanese "fast foods", like what I could get here that would be considered "Texas fast foods" - wings, pizza, hot dogs, taquitos, mini-tacos, sandwiches.
No shelf-stable hot dogs?
seven thousand us dollars on that plate
A place for pictures and photographs.
