Amazing job!! Did you stain it after?
My dad says thank you! He owns a window cleaning company and they also do pressure washing. He sent me these pics from a recent job and I thought this sub would enjoy.
He says, "No stain applied. Just high pressure and tap water."
Fab! Now paint it grey!
I see a patio deck and I want it painted black....
As a carpenter, all i can see is all the deck board seams lining up. WHY
I build decks exclusive and I actually cringed. Why they hell would you use 6’ long decking boards on 30’ deck to begin with.
Edit: the more I look at it the less sense it makes. Picture framing a deck with stone/concrete, fucking power washing it. That’s like buying the finest and freshest ingredients for a luxurious dinner, and then having the crew at TGIFridays prepare it for you
Damn, and I thought the first one was pretty
Missed an opportunity on the Imgur caption. “Wood you look at that”
edit to add, I feel vaguely guilty my very low effort comment is being upvoted, but in my defense, I was stunned (nigh-on speechless!!) by the difference
Did a volcano go off near your house? 🤣
Is it weird that I like the grey?
No, not weird at all. People pay good money for teak decks specifically to get this gray patina.
How did it turn grey? Was it painted?
Wood just does that if you leave it outside long enough. Partly from dust settling into it, partly from sunlight breaking down pigments.
I love that the chairs dont match anymore. Byebye grey, helllloooo colour
The way the deckboard joints all break on the same joist bothers me way more than it should.
Nope, it should bother you a lot. I could not live with that.
That's a transformation, nice work!
Whoa! Nice. That Redwood?
Looks like Ipe to me (brazilian walnut, very hard wood).
Just look at it!
I thought it was just painted grey that’s gorgeous!
Oh mylanta this is top tier shit right here. This shit right here, this shit right here? It’s that Cryptachronochronalight. It’s fire.
This shit's called *deaf*!
What?! For real though, that's a beautiful deck. Out door kitchens scream "class".
Mind if I ask, Texas?
100% looks like near New Braunfels !
Oh wow! Do they live next door to a volcano?
This is top tier.
That is a pretty ass deck!
Look at that colour, wow
Hope they seal it! What wood is that?
That is so fucking hot
**so fucking hot, that is.**
^(Commands: 'opt out', 'delete')
Wow 😳 love it!!
Wow. That's gorgeous
Sheeeeesh that looks so much nicer
Lol, your dad knocked the grey out of the place.
Anyone have recommendations for deck stain? I’m fully willing to go semi-solid
My favorite are the people I’m appalled that they would be immediately released
Damn! Looking fresh.
Holy crap that looks awesome! Such a Beauty!!
The person who built it
reminds me of the cafe in the middle of the CS:GO Map de_overpass
Damn! Even the table too!
Wow. Genuinely a jaw-dropping difference
Hey OP can you power wash my life?
Is that padauk wood? I know padauk has such a strong red colour when new and fades to grey over time.
Did someone put those colorblind glasses on my face just now?
It looks unrecognisable
I thought the first picture was the after, boy howdy was I surprised at the finished job! Wowza!!
Looks like some nice ipe to me
I preferred the before!
i just OMG'd out loud! that is STUNNING!
I like that they did the table too.
I just thought... wood was that color...
Better stain it with some teak oil before it greys again. It always looks good wet.
Yea, I want to see it dry. Source: I have a deck that I stupidly powerwashed without staining and loved the color. I live in south Texas. Boy did I come out to something way different. Ended up splintering the wood and currently working on replacing it all
Like no shit my man you got a picture of a predator in your tree holding a shopping bag. Left trunks, my man good job!
At first, I thought the right picture is a colorized version of the left one.
IPE goes grey when untreated but will return to its original splendor with little effort. Go buy yourself a cleaner and brightener and stain it with AC Armstrong Amber.
Who knew that wood could look like wood?!
Wood you look at that
JFC, that looks amazing! What a great find!
What is all over the deck before? Because it’s not just weather worn. The table is coloured grey too. It look like ash covered absolutely everything.
Both look okay lol. But I prefer the finished look better. Was it a pigmented sealer you pressure washed off?
Wood ya look at that
Yah, it was incredibly awkward lol
Went from outlet mall eating area to winery damn quick.
God I wanna sit up on that deck and drink on a hot summer afternoon
Is it weird that i like the first one?
I wish I was as cool as you.
Thats a mighty nice deck you got mate
Who says gamer girl blood™
its like having cataract surgery
No way! Who would’ve painted over that gorgeous wood?
Time to change the furniture jim
This might be my favorite off this sub!
Ipe or Cumaru?
I have to re-oil my deck in the coming weeks too because it isn't quite as grey as your before picture, it should turn nearly as red/orange as your after.
wow, looks brand new now
Have a free wholesome award
Gotta be honest, the gray was pretty nice too. I bet that's why the owners never bothered before because as it aged it still looked appropriate.
But holy fuck those results are amazing!
They are both beautiful, weed-eater.
Looks like pie. Put some Australian Timber Oil on it. Mahogany Flame is what it used on mine. Your table looks like teak. Oil it with teak oil. Take care of it and it will look great for a long time
I didn't understand until I saw the next pic lol
The ladies love a well maintained deck
Oh my lord...
I read the caption (ho hum), flipped to the next
Photo. It made me smile so big. That was an amazing transformation! It’s funny we don’t see the digression until we power wash! Thanks for the share!!
Damn was that all from the damn dust bowl or is that the remains of cratos’s family
that's insane! Was it stained after or not?
this is the best glow up ever
Haha crazy change
Nothin' like a good "fixer-upper"
For all things that have been satisfyingly power or pressure washed.
