My Hooch was like that, he basically lost his ability to walk as his hips went. But the Vet said he wasn't in pain. So for his last 2 years I just carried him, or put him in his walker. It was a lot of work, cleaning up oopsies, hauling him up and down the stairs, ( he wouldn't sleep w/o me, just howl. So I had to bring him to my room each night ) but I wouldn't give up those last years for anything.
We started giving our old lab Adequan. Originally, it was a horse medication, but she went from very stiff to relatively spry compared to before. She didn't grunt when she flopped down onto her bed.
It's an injection in the fat above the shoulder blades. Pricey the first month because you do a loading dose, but she got around much better after that.
I use the same as well on my old mutt. He gets a monthly injection and there's a noticeable improvement the week following the injection. Absolutely worth the cost
this is the best post i have ever seen, and you are the sweetest person to make sure your pup still gets to go on walks even if he isn't able to do it for himself anymore. I would do this for my pups if it ever came to it.
Hey - this is me and my video! I was surprised to see it on Reddit, but reading all the comments has warmed my heart so much - thank you for your kind words. We love our Tucker 💛
If we lived on the ground floor or an elevator building, my sweet Chuckie would have his own wagon too. Bless you for giving him his best life. What's his name?
We recently got our 13 year old husky a dog stroller for walks as her muscle in her back legs is almost entirely atrophied at this point. She’s way sleepier than she used to be and can’t always make it outside to use the bathroom, but when we grab her leash she still gets pumped up. I think the day she doesn’t react to that is going to be the day :(
My good boi is 18. He loves to go for a ride in his stroller. His kidneys are failing and his last days are here.
Hobbes is the sweetest lil turnip in the world. I love your pupper! He looks so happy.
For all you posters with old dogs who have hip problems and can't walk, but are otherwise happy & healthy: please consider trying laser therapy.
My wife is a veterinarian and we own a clinic. She has a therapy laser that she uses and recommends for older dogs in this situation. We used it on our 15 year old husky mix and it made quite a difference.
It's not a permanent fix and you do need to make multiple visits, but it's not super expensive. We did two treatments a week apart on our dog, then another treatment every 6 weeks or so. Obviously, your dog's situation may be different and may require different frequencies.
My wife charges $39 a visit for these treatments, or 10 visits for $300. She's had owners tell her that their old dogs are acting like puppies again!
This is not OP’s dog, Tucker is a sweet boy who has a wonderful owner who clearly loves him so much! Please consider supporting them on IG https://instagram.com/tuckered_out21?igshid=1tl0e8bmtteyb
Thank goodness for people like you!!! The amount of love, companionship, and stinky kisses they give us over a lifetime is worth spoiling them and giving them the best life possible!!! Warms my heart! I wish I could have all the dogs without homes, but sadly that’s not a reality, but it doesn’t stop me from seeing strays on the street and picking them up to add to the family!! Hubby jokes he drives only now cause we can’t have anymore....I’d still jump outta the moving vehicle if I must!! 😜

We happily spent $150 on a yard wagon despite having a wheel barrow because our old girl didn't have the energy to do much of anything anymore. We outfitted it with blankets and toys and took her on a wagon ride around the neighborhood. We didn't know that it would be her last walk as we lost her about 4 days later, but it was very special for us and we were happy she got out one last time to smell all the smells. Give your dog some pets for us!
My dog is getting up there in age. He’s the type where even though he’s old, and he limps on is ankle almost constantly, he will run himself into the ground unless you stop throwing the ball for him. I think once he gets to the point that walks are difficult that this will be exactly how i’ll walk him.
This is common in my area but ppl also use leashes modified to support the trunk of the dog. Think of a puppet, it works well because their legs have less weight to support it works awesome!! Love your old pups

Years ago I had a rescue Shih Tzu. The majority of his life he lived as a blind dog. He learned to walk on my left side while listening to a bell on my shoe. As he got older his hearing started to go, he had trouble hearing the bell and disliked a leash. The local St Vinnie's store gave us a baby stroller and he loved it! He passed away in 2012.
I have a 15 y/o Corgi-same thing. I bought a garden cart from Walmart for $60. Made the bottom all cushy with blankets and push her down the street for her ‘walks’
Money well spent!
My aunts pit is about to die sometime this month or the next. She has arthritis and a few tumors on her stomach that look like large lumps. Tho she doesn’t have a lot time left she’s doing good and has lived a full life
A two hour younger post, not sure if it is the original one because it came from imgur https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/mmtqjg/difficult_for_him_to_walk_but_living_his_best/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Video is by @misslaurie91 on TikTok!
He seems so happy, glad to see he is in good spirits despite the difficulty walking

Faster, faster...
Fast and furry
My dog is turning 17 this year in human years. She can really only walk about 1 block before getting tired.
Wow, congrats on all the love and attention that’s gotten your pup to that age!

Omg 😭😭😭😭💖💖💖dogs are so incredible. He looks like a happy baby! Yay!
As a former dog owner, it saddened me to watch my buddy slowly fade away with age.

These strollers, or whatever their names, are awesome for pets. I would find it funny to bring my cat on a ride.
My idea of heaven is the reformed good place in The Good Place, with all our dogs, and they're all old but without any of the aches and pains of age.
What an amazingly good boy.
Nice dog
good doggo😍
Dogs. Are. The... BEST
Dogie
I love him.
Cuuuuute!

I'm a sucker for old dogs. Thanks for posting this. It just made my day!
