This is so beautiful!!!! 😍😍😍
Thank you so much ❤️
Did you use boning as underwire? I’ve seen a few dresses in this style but I’m not sure if you can use boning instead of underwire, or if it’s too thick.
No I purchased the same underwire that goes into bra's! Only spiral boning would be possible to bend in that shape, but honestly I think that would be too thick for comfort! 😊
I started this gown by draping fabric directly onto the mannequin, at which I created the seen patterns.
I used black tule for the base dress and a black satin for the non-see through parts. The upper Fabric is a soft mesh feather design fabric.
The see-through parts are 3 layers of fabric to prevent it from stretching out, and there is boning to keep it's shape.
The skirts is 8 full circle skirts out of tule, en 2 of have horse-hair braided in them to make them more 'poofy'
The back is a small corset!
Feel free to ask any questions under this comment!
Wow, that is so lovely! How long have you been sewing? Do you do it professionally? Cause that dress is pretty awesome! I enjoy sewing but it goes in fits & spurts & I don't have much experience with making clothing but I still try (mostly for my kids).
This is fun. I am about to start too. I am getting my sister's sewing machine next week and going to start leaning. Any advice for beginner?
Choose a simple project, use ready made patterns. use (cheap) cotton (or any other non stretch, natural material) don't worry about the fit just yet, get to know your machine first! 😊
And there are a lot of YouTube vids out there, with tips, how to begin, etc.
And most of all, don't discourage yourself by starting to big, get comfortable with sewing first and slowly go bigger ❤️
10/10, I would totally wear that! Excellent job!
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️😊
What is that fabric called. Is it still called tulle?
It's tulle yes! I usually find it under tule/mesh
W. H. A. T. This is Top 10 of anything I’ve seen on here. This is amazing. Beautiful. Amazing. I love it! Congrats!
You really are too kind, thank you so much❤️❤️
If given the chance, I would wear this everyday with a moto jacket. Beautiful work!
I totally picture this with a moto jacket and a pair of creepers or platform boots ❤️
Omg who forgot to invite you to the party? Glad you were able to find us and share such a beautiful piece. Keep em coming. 😁
Thank you ❤️ I'm just not as active on reddit 🙈 but I'll make sure to post some work here the coming weeks!!
Oooooh I love ittt!!! 😍😍😍 How long did it take if I may ask?
Thank you 😊❤️ this one took about 3 to 5 days (I sew full time)
Ok, this is perfect. Actually perfect! Mesh, corset, black fabric with supercute print, good length dress too. 10/10, great eye for fabrics/proportions!
Thank you!! , I usually remake existing designs (games shows etc) but it was so much fun designing something which could be worn daily!
Omg that is gorgeous!!! 😍
Thabk you so much ❤️
Wow, that is amazing! I love it! I hope to be able to sew something like that!
I'm sure you will!!
It took a lot of practice and years to get where I am now, but I'm positive anyone could achieve this with enough practice!
Wow--are you on Etsy?
I am on Etsy yes, however this dress hasn't been listed yet!
You can find me by Annelune!
Wowowowow!!! So well constructed, and your mannequin is so cool.
Thank you ❤️ my mannequin was a very lucky second-hand find, so happy with it!!!
Wow, this is absolutely beautiful!!
And that mannequin has some rad android vibes, and I *love* it
Wow, that's amazing! And you designed it yourself too! It's beautiful. Quite an inspiration.
I've always liked the look of sheer over solid. This is a whole other level since you used it both in a fitted and gathered look.
I love sheer looks, but sometimes it can be quite hard to create (I really enjoy using boning in my clothing) but I love how this came together!!
Wow thats great !
This is really pretty
Gorgeous work, it looks so clean!
This is sooooo pretty!
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
That is amazing. I adore the fabric and cut.
Oh wow!! This is beautiful
I love this!!!!
Woow!! Stunning dress!!
omg this is beautiful
Well, **that’s** fun!!!
Incredible work, and with a difficult fabric! You did an amazing job
Thank you 🥰❤️
Wow! How r some people so talented!? It looks beautiful
Thank you for your kind comment! But I myself wouldn't really call it talent, (I can work fast that might be a talent😂) I've spend over 10 years of my life sewing, and followed a seamstress education for 3 of them 😊 still teaching myself with every project, and make a lot of mistakes aswell!!
Love this! So fun!
This is beautiful, would love to see the back of it or worn!
It has a small corset back, it hasn't been worn yet, because I haven't find a model to wear the sample yet!
-Is this self-drafted?
-Where did you find the fabric?
**This is absolutely stunning.** 👗 🦚
Yes it's self drafted!
The fabric was from a temporarily local market, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it pass by online before aswell!! "feather tule" etc
Thank you ❤️
So gorgeous 😱
This is beautiful. My very first thought was “hope is the thing with feathers”
This is so inspiring, I hope I can make things like this one day
I'm sure you can someday, keep practicing and just doing what you love!!
Im happy if I can inspire you 😊
Holy shit I love this so much
This is stunning
This is very fun and very cute!
This is beautiful, **I would buy this dress**! I hope you feel so pretty when you wear it and get tons of compliments!
Thank you ❤️ sadly, not going to wear this dress myself! But I plan to make some things for myself aswell in the future 😊
I would love to see my wife in this. Looks really nice. Good job op
I'm sure your wife would look amazing!!
😍 take my money!! Lovely job you should be proud 😊👌
Haha thanks ❤️❤️
Wow it’s so pretty
Wowww 😍 so unique!!
Id wear tf out of this
I'm just a random dude who saw this r/all but you made a very pretty dress :)
Thank you very much 😊❤️
This is amazing and I want it!
Do you have the pattern you used for this?
No, I draped it myself over the mannequin!
That looks good! I really like how you did the top.
did you use gathered circular skirt? xd
I did for the 2 top layers of the skirt, i didn't want to use it for every skirt layer because I wanted to keep the fabric area around the waist as thin as possible!
This is gorgeous! I wish I could do something this beautiful. Great work
With enough practice and experience I'm pretty sure anyone can achieve this look!! Thank you❤️
That’s so pretty. If it was in the store I would buy it
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL 😍😍😍😍
Congrats! It looks beautiful, but, I would have preferred the bustier to have the same colored fabric as the rest of your beautiful dress. Just my opinion, but the two-toned bustier is not an accent but more of a distraction that doesn’t work for me. Have you thought about making different variations of this dress? It would also look gorgeous in B&W, or, Mocha & Dark Brown, Lavender & Purple, the possibilities are endless. Perhaps, continuing with your idea of changing/breaking up the midsection of the dress you could also accomplish this by using texture and colors within the panels of the bustier & corset. For texture, maybe you could incorporate lace in the panels to break up the uniformity of your dress as suppose to an overall change of color or tone. You could also have a blending effect of color with the tulle skirts going from dark-to-light, or, light-to-dark as added depth of color to your dress. Congrats again and great job. All the best with your future creations.
The bustier is not a different colored fabric, it's just see-through! But everyone likes different things! 😊
I'd love to 'evolve' this design in more colors and styles, but I need time and money to invest in it. So im currently working on more different designs and other projects. It's something I do plan on doing in the future!
Thank you 🥰❤️
I’d love to make a bustier just like the top of your dress!! What pattern did you use?
Hi! I draped my own pattern over my mannequin!
Absolutely gorgeous!!! I love the fabric! The contrasting channels are amazing too!
Thank you! The fabric was such a lovely find!!
Hello from the UK👋🏻 I am glad you found this community...And this right here is the reason I would like to learn. I am not a dress person but that's because I am too fussy when it comes to dresses and I don't think anyone understands when I say “I have my own style and I don't like most types of dress” Your work is amazing, I appreciate your post and I'm watching the comments for tips and tricks for when I eventually get around to getting a sewing machine. I can hand sew on a small scale but determined to learn to make things on a larger scale. Thank you for the inspiration 💕
Thank you so much, I'm really happy if I can inspire people even a little!! ❤️ Sewing takes a lot of practice and a lot of mistakes along the way, but it is so much fun, I hope you can a sewing machine fast to keep on sewing. I can't live without mine anymore ❤️
And feel free to ask any questions, sewing is my life and I love talking about it!
This is so pretty. If it was in the store I’d buy it
Thank you for your kind comment! I'd love to see my stuff in store one day! But for now I only sell custom made and samples!! ❤️
I loooove this! Totally my style (but I don’t have the skills to make anything in my style) You are very talented and I look forwards to your next post.
Creative! The bodice looks great as does the skirt. The breast cups look oddly high and round. Is the shape a bit strange or just mega full coverage?
I prefer a bit more coverage in my designs! But what probably makes it look a bit different, is that the dress is a larger cup size than the mannequin!
Wow it looks so great!!
This is truly gorgeous!
Welcome! That dress is gorgeous!! Congrats on such a great piece ♥️
