Sky do it all the time. It's ridiculous
why the fuck sky gives out motm at all?
Someone finally says it.
It could even be a penalty they did nothing to win.
Yea reminds me of the Chelsea-Bayern CL final, I thought Cech had the game of his life and even saved a penalty but Drogba was the most talked about and I think he took MOTM. Not that Drogba didn't deserve it but I thought Cech was MOTM.
Someone had to say it.
Benzema to ghost in the Euro final only to score the winner and get motm.
I can live with that.
Tbh for Real Madrid he is both the player that does all the build up and link up play for 90 minutes and the one that scores the winning goal
Because we have Lord Asensio and Lord Vinicius on either side :) (I still think he will come good in 2-3 years)
*Karim Benzema SLAMS former partner C Ronaldo in earth scorching interview*
Hello, I work for Daily Mail and I would like to use this tomorow
Football has become? Hasn't it always been like this?
If any thing, the recent advancements in the technology and analysis give a much more clearer picture about who has played good in a game. The people that big up the scores though, they are the same as before.
Garth Crooks has been picking his BBC team of the week using solely goalscorers for about 15 years.
This tactic is commonly known as 'the Inzaghi'.
As an aside, the French are talking far too much about what type of successful football they do not want to play in a tournament that will be utter defensive shithousery from start to finish.
Defensive shithousery is how you win international tournaments, england should take notes
The translation is pretty important, he said it happend to him too, but he don't want to be happy be doing that ...
This reminds me of that UCL final between Real & Atletico (I think) where Ronaldo played awful for 90 mins + extra time but got most of the credit when he scored the winning penalty.
Tbf I never got this. I have always been far far happier when scoring but Benzema literally goes into the midfield or wings and his aim isn't to assist either. You'd expect a number 9 to care about his stats but he doesn't at all, he likes to score but it's not a priority, but at the same time he's the goalscorer for his team.
All great managers play him and like him regardless if he “cares about his stats” or not. At the end of the day he is there to make sure his team wins and there’s so many ways you can do that as a modern striker.
we’re tired of inzaghis
Bruno is a great player, but this description just suits him perfectly. Even in his worst performances he will come away with a goal/assist & get MOTM.
I sure as well would like to have a player that constantly gets goals or assists even when playing like shit. I'd say Aubameyang kind of fits the description for us, he rarely has standout performances but his stats are there. Except for last season.
Benzema fires shot at France teammate Giroud....
In the interview he says it also happened to him...
L'Équipe title generator : Benzema says Giroud scoring 2 goals against Bulgary was undeserved
But if that goal wins you a title??
He must of seen Pulisic play recently
If you watch compilations of all goals of Ronaldo in Madrid you will that half of them came from Benzema's decoy movement and/or his involvement in linkup play. I hope with advanced stats and metric evolving we will be able to have metrics to analyze this stuff more in the future and retroactively apply it on Benzema to know his true value to the team.
You can literally say that about Benzemas goals, 75% came because of Ronaldo's techniques and abilities. And some of the worst misses to some beautiful chances created by him. So let's stop with this memory of a gold fish and be somewhat realistic and not get carried away by emotions.
> Benzema isn't that kind of a player anyways.
That's exactly what he's saying. He's saying he's not always going to pop up with the winning goal, but he's okay with that because he's doing everything else for 90 minutes.
Benz mate, this is definitely coming back to bite you next season because of the fanbase
r/gunner sub in a nutshell.
How else is Garth Crooks meant to pick his team of the week?
AKA the Rashford
His decision making is abysmal
If a player does nothing during the match but score the winning goal, that's normal he gets praised and get the spotlight, and even more if he does it often. You can't say a player "has a bad game but he scores the winning goal". No if he scores the winning goal, he had a good game, period. Winning the match means having a good game.
Inzaghi in the 2007 CL final had one shot and scored two goals. The two goals were basically the only thing he did in the match. How can you dare say he had a bad match ?
And it doesn't means a player who doesn't score had a bad game.
> Winning the match means having a good game.
I don't agree at all. Yes if he scores the winning goals it matters but not more than the player who played well all match. For example Giroud scored two in their last friendly but Pogba was head and shoulders above any player that game and should be the man of the match.
Football has become a game where criminals can avoid jailtime and continue playing football.
The judgement will come in October. He isn't a criminal yet
Is this a thinly veiled shot at Ronaldo?
Definitely. Cristiano is the perfect example of what Benzema just described
That's me on FIFA tbh. I am so shite, get rated 6 or 7 and still get an assist a game :D
Why you gotta do your former teammate like that Benz?
Is that a shot at Giroud?
Not really because in the video he specifically says he is guilty of it himself and makes it quite clear he’s not talking about anyone in particular
He described Bruno Fernandes.
i agree ,its stupid
It's not that you don't want to be that kind, it's that you can't be that kind
Kind of like Kante and calls for the balon'dor. Don't get me wrong, I love Kante, but it's ridiculous to completely ignore how bad he was for most of the season, especially in the league, and base the award on his performances in 2 CL semi-finals and a final
