I believe the record was actually 58 days:
Wasn’t there a long run in 2012 or 2013? Seem to remember all the grass being yellow and people talking about days without rain records.
PNE week shall put an end to that. /s
Either that or my camping trip planned in a week oughta do the trick
It did rain this past week. I saw it on my windshield as I was driving.
That was just a few days ago. Downtown it left the streets wet for a couple hours. Not much but definitely rain.
It's no where near the record:
I mean, that's relative? It's closer to it than it is far from it.
Also, depending on stations/data banks the data differs. But, obviously Env. Canada is the go to.
And I don't understand why I sleep all day, and I start to complain that there's no rain.
All I can do is read a book to stay awake, it rips my life away like a great escape.
I was just saying to my wife yesterday that I can’t remember the last time it rained. Obviously i wish it would though all the lawns are starting to look a bit dire and the forests are just too dry
Gonna have a yellow sky August methinks
It absolutely rained downtown / coal harbour last Saturday, enough for windscreen wipers and umbrellas.
Well yes. But OP posted an article from the 16th and Saturday was the 17th...
You know the second the rain starts, so too will the moaning and whining about the rain.
Honestly life is good if all you can whine about is the weather.
Make sure to go out and water some of your local trees
Large trees should be able to handle it, but smaller newly planted will die. Take care of any that are a few years old!
Long term forecast shows a sprinkle on August 10 and then dry until the last week of September.
So glad we had that strong winter snowpack this year. Our reservoir is strong this year.
You can see in the above chart, where June has a near horizontal red line where the extra snow put us back to normal.
That far in advance is basically useless.
It rained though. Lies
Saturday it rained all morning downtown.
The western half of North America is turning into a desert. We are even feeling the effects here in the PNW, one of the rainier regions on the continent. The future looks bleak.
Much of the west *is* a desert and has been for millennia. It's not becoming one. I was not aware of any evidence that the PNW is undergoing desertification. Can you provide a source on that?
In fact, I had read that climate change is likely to increase rainfall in the region. I will look for the source.
Here is a source (https://www.fws.gov/pacific/climatechange/changepnw.html) that says that models generally support a wetter and warmer PNW in the US. Still looking for Canada.
Not even close to an all time record yet. For Vancouver Airport, the all time record is 58 days from 1951.
Temperate rain forest my ass.
Bad for the forests, but coming here from Ontario I honestly can’t even complain one bit. I would rather have a summer that’s mostly sunny and rain all winter then deal with the shit ass weather patterns out there of rain all summer and freeze your damn ass off while shovelling snow all winter…
This is fine ...
Does anybody else find this years weather bizarre af? I’m up at my mom’s in the Okanagan right now and two days ago the whole sky was literally dark hazy orange and it was raining ash from a fire that was far enough away that we couldn’t see. There’s fires up here within eye sight of her place every time I come up here in the summer but it’s never been anything close to as bad as this. We left a restaurant and could barely walk down the street to the car without getting ash in our eyes m. It felt like we were on another planet lol. Plus it was a record breaking June and April heat month plus now record breaking days without rain. So many weird things happening.
> So many weird things happening.
It's almost as if the climate is changing.
Maybe that's we could call it. "Climate Change."
Has a good ring to it.
It just rained last week
And all my neighbours still running their sprinklers all the damn time
It was raining 2 days last week mildly
It absolutely has rained.
Does the rain last week not count?
Yeah and this is what happens to us when we try to protect what little there is left.
Save fairy creek. Anyone who can come help please do.
As a pro-cold weather person - BRING ME RAIN!!!!
This cave-man is rooting for a new ice age!
I know I'm overreacting but looking at the forecast, I'm a bit concerned about our water supply for the rest of the summer.
You are being downvoted because your comment is amateurish guesswork.
It rained last week, lol
And i EVEN managed to have some days off in there (usually my scheduled days off in the summer months bring torrential rain)
I was up high on Mt. Fromme last Saturday. There was considerably more precipitation up high that fully penetrated the forest cover. Thankful for that at least.
Finally we taking rain so serious in Vancouver.
What's the point of this article? It rained the other day...
Our all time record is 58…
It definitely rained overnight here in North Vancouver last week.
Fuck man. On the northern end of the province I have been watching the leaves of my cottonwoods turn yellow and fall. I have leaves falling everywhere these last few days.
Weather is fucked right now.
"Climate change doesn't exist tho" - conservatives
Yeah rained last week, ruined hike.
It rained overnight last Friday...
I swear we had a little bit downtown last weekend. It was more like a mist, but I dunno.
BS it rained the morning of the 19th.
I'll wash my car today, that should help
It rained for an hour on Saturday morning
I was downtown in rain last week... this doesnt seem right - it also rained at my place in coquitlam
Didn’t it rain last week?
Little known fact but Vancouver has the driest summer climate in Canada when you compare the big cities (1 million+)
Maybe we should start sacrificing people to the rain gods. Who goes first?
It rained Saturday morning…
It's raining in no5 orange tho
africa would like to have a word
We had few drops last Saturday morning though...
My car is extra filthy
It rained within the week.... What are they going on about? Sure it was a couple little drizzle shower but it did happen.
Can’t they seed clouds?
It rained in Whistler yesterday for about an hour
The record was longer than that, also it very much did rain in kitsalano last week...I guess they must be cherry picking some obscure data
I like this, no complaint.
it rained briefly a few days ago
It definitely rained last week (can't remember which night), unless someone sprayed on the cars on my block with water over night.
Vancouver: why would the homeless and poors do this?
Rain, rain, go away! Come again another... month?
I listened to rain sounds last night for 2+ hours.
This morning I woke up feeling like we were out of the drought.
Thank you for reminding me that we are not, however, those rains sounds certainly helped with my environmental anxiety. Highly recommend for anyone experiencing the same thing.
There was a sprinkle a few days ago, so this is a lie.
It rained for like 10-20min on Friday night at like 3am.
Fake news. I was running around the seawall last week in the rain .
I'm getting depressed without the rain. I don't know why
