I have always disliked the aves, but I cannot believe how quickly I hated Vegas. As a hockey team they’re literally the definition of being born with a silver spoon. Fuck both teams and I hope Montreal takes them to the cleaners.
The combination of Vegas getting ridiculous expansion rules, getting blatant preferential treatment from the refs, AND being dirty as fuck makes them impossible to root for.
I hate Landeskog and the Aves seem to have a fairly shitty fan base, but at least they earn their Ws.
Show me your reaction face to having to play the Aves without Brodin and with Ek on half of a leg.
I dont think the Wild had what it takes to go all the way so bowing out in a 7 game round one isn't all bad.
Knowing how hurt Eriksson Ek was going into game 7 and seeing Brodin go down early, as soon as Vegas took the lead I accepted our fate. It was either going to be in a back and forth 7 game series or quickly in round 2, but we were done.
There's no shame in going out in 7 against the number 2 team in the league (that only lost the President's trophy because of a tie breaker). We did pretty damn good for a team that was retooling and projected to be battling for 4th in the division before the season.
Can they both lose?
Yes, if Montreal can keep their hot streak going.
Fuck both teams. And fuck Norm Green.
Fuck Norm Green
This is the right answer.
A team I loathe is getting through this round either way. Tampa is kind of unstoppable right now so hopefully they could handle VGK if they get to the SCF.
Montreal is America's team now. I'm far from a Badgers fan but I cheer for the US in Juniors + World Cup + Olympics and Cole Caufield is really fun to watch and it's good to see the midwest continue to develop talent.
While watching their most recent match-up, both teams zooming around the ice I thought; "There is no way the Wild could've dealt with either of these teams. We just are not that big and quick."
Sure, gains in both size and speed have been made but more work remains for us to go second round deep in the playoffs. No way can we compete for the cup at this level.
With Ek playing on one leg and Brodin out, no. I say this watching that series and thinking *exactly the same thing*
I think that even if we'd gotten past Colorado in round one, we'd have met Vegas this round and suffered the same fate in the end. The NHL is intent on getting Vegas to the Cup Final. Watching a couple of these games made it clear that it wasn't just us that got shitty calls in our series.
Amazing how they're able to shut down Kaprizov and MacKinnon in back to back series. Almost like being allowed to grab, hold, hook, and interfere with them with impunity helps in that regard.
I'm not rooting for Vegas or anything but I do enjoy watching them knock the Aves down a peg.
As a sharks fan, and wild as my number 2 team, this series is PAIN. Lol
Tell Burns that I miss him.
Fuck both teams, absolutely we could've beaten the Avenues if we got by the STD city.
I am laughing on the inside. The Wild don't have the gas, talent or desire to make it past the second round of anything.
Yeah no kidding, especially after that 7-1 slaughter. What the hell colorado?
I don't hate the Avs, though I *do* hate Vegas, so I'd rather the Avs win the series.
I dont think it works like that lol
Getting to 7 was a farce. When they came back almost fully healthy for game 7 we got embarrassed.
Yeah, it didn't help that Patches made his playoff debut that game. I'll be honest though, without Fleury, the series is totally different.
Just being honest here but we had no business taking Vegas to 7 games. Like I'm glad that the boys were able to eek out an extra win or two, but we for sure stole one game via goaltending.
I don't think us versus the Aves would be going any better.
Yeah, I want Vegas to win. I hate the Avs. Mostly because Landeskog is a tool, I always wanted to see Koivu knock him down a peg when they’d get into it. Plus the amount of media that drools over the Avs is ridiculous. Add in the fact we took them to 7, and could have legitimately beat them had Brodin not been hurt…
Also, I love the city of Vegas, so they are my second favorite team right now.
I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I couldn't root for the team that tried to murder multiple Wild players lol
The transitive property doesn't always work in hockey, but I see what you mean
I hate the knights even more than the aves. Got handed a goated team thanks to the very friendly expansion rules. I will relish the time when they finally begin to suck and all their fair weather fans disappear.
it’s not given to them, it’s good general managing, and your playing against some of the best players in the world. You can’t just make a new team, then get thrown out there with nothing.
Honestly, I just hope both teams lose. Tampa is my Favorite (since we're out). I have been following them since they lost in the Finals to Chicago 5 or 6 years ago, and I have been to Tampa twice in that time span. Tampa Bay is a great hockey market, ngl.
Just about the same things that killed us, turnovers and breakaways...
Let's all be honest the knights are just a distraction from the worst drought in the past 80 years going on there right now
I just can’t support the aves. I hate Vegas. I’m supporting the habs. They offend me the least.
My Grandma is French Canadian so I’m hoping the Habs wipe em’ so I can celebrate their suffering with her.
Fk both teams, nobody is beating tampa anyway.
Let's hope so. I would be fine if Montreal beats them though.
I'd LIKE to believe we could, but my inner sanity suggests otherwise. We don't get the shots on goal and Talbot was spotty during the playoffs.
how can you like MacKinnon though. I know he’s a great player but he is a bad sport. He literally took a guys helmet off and threw it at him. Big fan of vegas tho. Also, how can you be “born with a silver spoon” like it’s just good general management by a guy that made washington AND vegas.
Because the expansion rules put them in a position to make a lot of side deals to not take players that teams couldn’t protect. They turned their abundance of assets into a decent roster. When compared to the previous expansion, it’s night and day as far as what was available.
Plus Vegas plays dirty as fuck. Their strategy is to play as physical as refs will let them get away with and hurt your D corps
Aves are choke artists. Haven’t found a way to win with such a stacked team
I didn't get to watch the series at all. Did the officiating feel as one sided in this series as it did against the wild?
What happened to the AVS? Maybe they got a little too cocky after sweeping the Blues
Teams that have won a game 7 then faced a team that swept its previous series are undefeated since 2001. Vegas was the 7th straight team to accomplish this ([Montreal was 6th earlier this week](https://twitter.com/TomGulittiNHL/status/1402100786037932034)).
You realize pacioretty only played 1 game out of 7 against the wild?
It’s Avs, you Neanderthals
That's something an Aves fan would say.
Can we stop using “Aves”. It’s Avs. Also. Fuck both teams.
Ummm...It's Aves when you're in here.
