Albertan Redditors have a humongous hate-boner for Jason Kenney, but wow, they sure want to give him and the government total control of their lives for the false sense of security. Please Daddy Kenney, lock me down harder! Don't get me wrong, I hate Kenney too. But that is because he is a spineless, craven coward who keeps backing down and giving in to these weirdos and continuously moves the goalposts for a return to normal.

Is Doug smoking crack now, like his brother? Why are people even entertaining this idea and okay with this? This has absolutely nothing to do with safety now and everything to do with control and compliance. And once you voluntarily give up your rights in the name of safety, you aren't going to just get them back after.

Thanks for the reminder about Nurses' contract. Yes, our priorities for the off-season should definitely be prioritizing finding a reliable top-6 forward and 3C above Barrie. I hope Holland doesn't offer Barrie a huge contract.

I mean, if the team wants to re-sign Nurse and Nuge, I think they won't have the money left for what Barrie will likely feel he is worth. If signing the above 2 means letting Barrie walk so Bouchard can finally become a regular on the roster, I am okay with that.

"15 days to slow the spread." "Our bad, 30 days!" "Never mind. 2 months!" "3 months now!" "We can't discuss fully re-opening until there is a vaccine available." "Okay, there's a vaccine, but now we need at least 75% of the population vaccinated before we can even discuss re-opening. And you still to socially distance and wear a mask in public even after you've gotten your shot." "Ya, we are going to need you to get this shot 3 times every year now, then maybe we will entertain the hilarious idea of granting you some basic freedoms again." If our political leaders had outlined this to us one year ago, how many people would have agreed to this insanity?

*Long-COVID* isn't even something that is unique and new. There was a study done on SARS patients in China conducted back in 2009 and unsurprisingly, many patients experienced long-lasting psychological effects. Almost like people who are prone to things like depression, OCD, anxiety, etc. are more prone to saying they're experiencing symptoms. So, I think a lot of you will find this interesting. We all know by now the people who claim to suffer from *Long-COVID*. People complaining of chronic fatigue problems, brain fog, and more. Well, turns out that this has never been exclusive to COVID and has been studied in people during the SARS pandemic in China. I know just about everyone here has been saying that this seems to be purely psychological in people who claim to suffer from Long-COVID, but this study really helps to reinforce that what we have been saying in that these people are suffering psychological symptoms, not physical (in the long term). >A substantial proportion of SARS survivors experienced SARS-related physical complications, including avascular necrosis (AVN),1 pulmonary fibrosis,2 and hypocortisolism.3 The physical conditions of most of the patients continuously improved in the first year of follow-up, but their mental conditions showed limited signs of improvement.4 The 1-year follow-up study after the outbreak found that some SARS survivors had persistent mental problems.4,5 Many studies found that the status of being a health care worker at the time of SARS infection,5-10 Ring any bells? >Among the 181 individuals who participated in clinical interviews at follow-up, 6 (3.3%) had a history of psychiatric disorders before contracting SARS. At the time of follow-up, a total of 77 (42.5%) had experienced at least 1 active psychiatric illness as determined by the SCID. The most common diagnoses were posttraumatic stress disorder (42 of 77 survivors [54.5%]), depression (30 of 77 [39.0%]), somatoform pain disorder (28 of 77 [36.4%]), panic disorder (25 of 77 [32.5%]), and obsessive compulsive disorder (12 of 77 [15.6%]). Now imagine an entire year of non-stop fear from the news reaching millions of people and you can see how damaging this will be to potentially hundreds of thousands or even millions of people, paralyzed by fear of covid. The future mental health crisis in the Western world will be astronomical, arguably induced entirely by the media and our governments. Fascinating study and recommend everyone to have a look at it.

Thank you. As a white belt that only started January 2020, it sucks getting passionate about something healthy and fun, only to be taken away from you through no fault of your own. I have been going back to classes recently. So much to relearn and figure out again. Just part of the experience I suppose, but man, it is hard not to be bitter about it all. I do like the idea of being a part of a secret club, and it's so refreshing not having to see anyone in a mask.

God, I'm so pissed off at my government. I lost months of progress in Jiu Jitsu this past year. My gym closed on orders from my provincial government and reopened only to be closed down again a few months later. The owners finally decided enough is enough and have opened back up in secret to full classes. A small victory I suppose, but I'll never look at anyone who supported any of this the same way again. All it did was make everyone less healthy and more miserable being stuck inside on the couch, consuming garbage and fear porn all the time. No one even got covid who went there during this entire year. Glad you were able to keep going at least.

The government admitting they were wrong and unwittingly caused more damage to society than if they had taken a measured, reasonable approach that protected only the most vulnerable and didn't subject a healthy population to over a year of insanity? I'll take things that will never happen for $500, Alex. They've already driven the bus off the cliff. They can't stop mid air and reverse back up even if they wanted to. All that's left is for them is to crash land, spit on our ashes and claim they had no other option and we should be grateful for their unparalleled leadership.

That's great. I need to show more financial support to businesses willing to stand up and say no more. I'm sick of all the bootlicking for the government from Redditors who despise Kenney, but want him to lock us all inside and financially cripple anyone who can no longer afford to be compliant and obedient. I haven't been in the know about all these gyms staying open, but I hope they continue to run in whatever capacity they can. My gym is secretly running again, because they can't afford to close again, but for obvious reasons can't say more. They have my full support though and no one who's been there the past year has ever tested positive for covid. and the owners make sure everything is sanitary and clean.

Those people in the Benny's thread seething because 'THEYRE NOT FOLLOWING DA RULES GOVERNMENT MAKE YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW, I HOPE THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS AND EVERYONE THERE GETS COVID AND DIES'. It would suck running a restaurant nowadays when you have so many unhinged people on social media giving you such bad press for simply trying to keep your business afloat. No sympathy from them for all those employees who will soon be unemployed either. Really sad what people have been reduced to these days. I guarantee 95+% of restaurants want to open now but are scared of all the negative press and social media demonization.

Where I live, some employees at retail stores or restaurants will ask people to sanitize with some bottle at the front of the business. I usually just wait until they turn around and pretend to press it or just press it gently so the tiniest amount comes out. I wash my hands regularly and never got sick in the past from this, so I trust my immune system enough to not have to constantly apply globs of hand sanitizer everywhere I go.

> Ten years ago Canada was a free country known for its picturesque nature, mounties, and nice people. Nowadays, it's full of a bunch of virtue-signaling crybabies whining for their next government handout. I would have hoped not to live long enough to see my home country fall this far. Coincidence that about 10 years ago was the rise of social media? At this point, it just seems obvious that social media is to blame for a significant amount of societies problems. I truly believe that 10 years ago, none of this lockdown shit would have ever been discussed. But thanks to social media, we have been inundated with a never-ending supply of fear porn and virtue-signalling. If I could eliminate one thing from society forever, it would be social media.

I really don't get Redditors in Alberta when it comes to Kenney. They hate his guts no matter what he does, but want him to be more authoritarian and impose harsh, severe, long lasting lockdowns. So they want him to be a dictator, but every time he caves into them, it isn't good enough. Can they not see how ridiculous they sound? And for the record, I hate Kenney too. But for the opposite reason. That he's a cowardly worm, who caved into these pro-lockdown cowards.

Ya, I have only used hand sanitizer maybe a dozen times in the past 6 months (I live in a dry climate and hate how it dries my hands out). About the same rate I did before all this shit. when an employee tells me I have to sanitize before entering a store, I usually just barely press it, so a pea sized amount comes out. Still haven't gotten covid. And I'm out in public pretty frequently, not hiding away in fear. Guess I just have a good immune system.

Oh boy, what a sad way to leave this world. I'd rather eat a bullet than be subjected to dying alone with a rubber glove for comfort. Ok, also not trying to be rude, but looking at that person's hand, they are clearly obese. I'm not trying to say they deserve to be subjected to this, but it just reinforces that the people dying of covid are the very sick, elderly or obese. Not young, healthy people who shouldn't be subjected to lockdowns.

Security theatre. These people aren't going to question why you need to wear a mask when walking to your table, but once you've sat down, you are now somehow safe. It doesn't make sense because it is just giving people the illusion of safety. And sadly not enough people question this. I bet everyone on here thinks the TSA is a useless government overreach that doesn't prevent terrorism and inconveniences everyone, but won't think twice about these restrictions.

Ive done Jiu Jitsu for various parts of the past year. Before they were shut down of course. I can't think of a physical activity more close contact than that. Having people breathe and sweat all over you and no one who went to my gym got sick. Masks would be useless in Jiu jitsu. I don't think it matters what political party is in power. All of them are the same in the end. Will do whatever is politically convenient and not give a shit about us plebs. It's all about power and doing what is politically convenient for them. 570,000 Americans died WITH covid. These weren't healthy people that died unexpectedly from covid. And I guarantee that at least half of these people who died were obese, given the obesity rate of America. Those that weren't already had multiple comorbidities like advanced age, heart disease, dementia, cancer, and much more. Covid kills the already sick and unhealthy. These numbers are extremely inflated because they don't tell you the whole story. It sucks that people die, but we can't prevent death to those who are already unhealthy. And locking down the young and healthy isn't going to stop anything and will just hurt everyone in the long run. I wish you could see this.

Does anyone remember the leaked videos that came straight out of China from early 2020 where you had people collapsing in the street, convulsing in the hospital, throwing up blood, dead bodies all over the place outside? My question is, why are none of these strains causing anything remotely like that to happen anywhere? I have yet to see any footage come from any country besides China that shows anything even remotely bad as that. Really makes you think...

Then why are there surges in places where people are wearing masks and isolating and places where people aren't wearing masks? Could it be that masks are largely ineffective security theatre and largely the equivalent of virtue signalling to the world about your compliance with public health officials spitballing in the dark as they've done over the past year incompetently? Or is it because people simply overlook the abundance of covid statistics and choose which ones fit how their perspective of the world is and want to blame some tribal 'other' for their problems?

Most people don't want to admit that they will comply and go along with whatever our politicians tell us what we can and can't do and question nothing even when they keep contradicting and flaunting the very rules they impose on us. That is not following the science. That is endorsing giving our leaders more and more control over us and treating us like children who can't be trusted to return to normal.

It's almost like people have forgotten that the old and unhealthy all eventually pass away and eventually all of our times will come and we should make the most of it without us being forced to live our last few years alone and in isolation. You can't financially cripple society and force people to wear masks and lockdown forever to prevent a fraction of the population from dying a little sooner than they would have. You talk from a moral high ground, but you seem to forget that there are many downsides to locking down society. Why do you only care about covid and not about people who have lost their livelihoods and small businesses to government shutdowns while big box stores are allowed to remain open. Or domestic abuse victims who are now forced to live with their abuser because they are now basically trapped with them. Or kids losing precious years socializing because they are now forced to stay at home and the negative developmental effects that come with it. But all that matters anymore is this one virus. Nothing else matters, right?

>everyone The Reddit hivemind seems to think differently. Are people finally figuring out that the young and healthy are not at risk of dying and we shouldn't be locking down the world over this to protect the 0.2% of the population actually at risk? No, double masks for everyone!

You're telling me 20 high level athletes who aren't very old, obese, or already have multiple co-morbidities are recovering just fine from covid and not on their death beds? What a twist! Who could have seen that coming?

A pandemic so deadly, people are commercializing it and reducing it to the joke we already know it is.

I had someone give me gold on a post critical of lockdowns and how most people obey with whatever the government tells them and someone accused me of giving myself gold. It is such an echo chamber there that most cannot fathom someone not being okay with endless lockdowns and media induced fear.

That's what consuming social media fear porn every day of the year does to a person. Common sense and all logic goes out the window. Imagine blaming the 0.1% of people who don't wear masks over the power hungry politicians and government who prolong all of this. Just 2 more weeks, right?

>Vaccinated and unvaccinated all still carry the virus. >Unvaccinated need to stay home because they’re a danger to us vaccinated people somehow(?). Pick one.

Is this the new, modern day segregation? What next? Unvaccinated only water fountains? Do we have to enter restaurants from the back entrance only? I'm only vaccinated against hepatitis, rabies, malaria and the common cold. Am I not allowed in the vaccinated sections at this event? These policies don't sound like they are following any kind of y'know, actual science.

Canada is a fraction of its former self. I have no pride, no ownership, no respect, and no commitment in this failed state. It's bad enough that our governments are going to likely lock everyone down again. Fuck, this is so frustrating. Im not even anti-vaxx, but the fact that there is no concrete reopening plans and still having to social distance and wear masks even after people get vaccinated just make me double down and refuse this new normal even harder. Holy fuck, I'm sick of treasonous politicians selling our country out for more power. And I think I'm even more sick of all the NPC retards who just bend over and ask for more. I guess the government needs to keep accelerating to speed up our great reset.

Your words are as empty as your head. But good to know you are a good, obedient little boy who follows the rules and will bend over backwards to anything the government demands of us. Be honest, you'll keep wearing your mask even after youre vaccinated, won't you? Because you're clearly a man of science.

Mainstream Media content that deliberately and enticingly plays on people's fears about disaster, disease and death. Currently used in relation to COVID-19.

No, I didn't. Maybe there are more people who are tired of endless lockdowns, security theatre, fear porn and restrictions than you think. Shocking, I know.

Most people in this country seem to be fine with the government telling them what they can and can't do. Our politicians have a habit of telling us we'll be 'allowed' or 'not allowed' to do x, y and z and it seems that most people in this country are happy to be patronized in this way and just obey. *Thank you to everyone that agrees. Despite how much this place can feel like an echo chamber, it is nice to know that there is a silent majority who is fed up with being told 'Just 2 more weeks' over and over again. The facade is starting to come undone and it is good to know people are sick of power hungry politicians treating us like children.

I hope the people of France oppose this as much as they did during the Yellow Vest protests 2 years ago. All is takes is enough people to tell the government no more.

Canadian citizens are the morons for voting for him twice. As a lifelong Canadian I can say that this country is full of complacent morons who believe anything the CBC tells them. I weep for the future of this country. I used to be proud to be a Canadian. Now, there isn't much to be proud of these days. But ya, fuck Trudeau and everything he stands for.

Manipulative cowards. I remember when Netflix pulled the same shit after fat cow, Amy Schumers awful special was being rightfully downvoted into oblivion and shortly after Netflix got rid of the 5 star rating system. Their narrative is crumbling and they must hide the truth at all costs.

Remember in the early 2000s and movies like Super Size Me came out and showed everyone that obesity was terrible and something that no one should ever be? Now it is basically glamorized by the media and endorsed with dangerous slogans like *Healthy at any size*. Amazing how the cultural zeitgeist had shifted so much in such a short time. How things have changed.

Then step the fuck down if you are too much of a coward to confront reality and let someone who isn't a spineless puppet help everyone move past this ridiculous paranoia and fear-mongering. But that will never happen of course.
