Apparently spray paint is the best bet! But it's important to thoroughly clean and let dry first.

this was part of a large pile of stuff, but I appreciate your concern and you're totally right! where we are, people typically put stuff out for about 3 days before contacting the town to schedule a pickup (in case anyone wants it), and one pickup per year is free. But definitely something I will be conscious of!

If you're thinking of Farmington, their bulk pickup schedule is on the town website! And the churches always post their tag sales on Craigslist 🤠

ALSO!!!! for wedding dresses, if you are sample size (0-6 us sizing) I highly recommend checking on Etsy for samples bc a lot of couture houses contract with people who turn around and resell the samples. They're usually only worn once for 30 min for photos and then offloaded! I got mine (bias cut raw silk, $3000 dress) for $97 on Etsy.

No problem! I'm super into the truly sustainable fashion of secondhand only, so the first place I check is always Posh. It's got a surprisingly large catalogue, plus most people are willing to negotiate on the price!! Definitely helps with trying to be zero waste and stay on budget.

Poshmark usually has tons of people who are reselling bridesmaids gowns, so if you find one you like from bhldn (which is very popular), there's a very good chance you could find all your bridesmaids' sizes for sale there. Definitely better than buying right from the bhldn company!

Based on the phrasing of 'senior MS or PhD candidate', it seems like they are actively recruiting people who have left their program for any number of reasons. More common than you'd think, a lot of people get the Masters and bail shortly before taking their qual exam. source: am a phd candidate, watched several people bail in the last year

it's CoutureSamples! Right now their shop is not active, but I would bet they post more at some point. The one downside is that they only sell sample size, so US size 2-6 and on the long side.

I LOVE this question bc I went through the same thing. And I've gotta say, Covid was our ticket out. We used it as a reason to downsize and host in a family members field, did our own bbq catering, and only used reusable thrifted decor, with live plants instead of cut flowers. We downsized to 40 people and it was a great decision, bc it made it easy to be clear that we did NOT want stuff as gifts (or gifts at all). I highly recommend saying fuck it and doing your own chill, low key wedding in a yard, bc it sets the tone for the marriage. Just remember, if you start getting tempted, the wedding is not the marriage. The wedding is for fun, not photos. That being said, for a nice dress that is eco friendly, there's an Etsy site for a woman who makes samples for wedding dress companies. I bought my dress from her, raw silk crepe in perfect condition that had been worn for a photoshoot, for $90+$40 shipping.

For maine coons, you can rescue or go through a breeder! We have an older cat so the only option was to get a kitten to prevent fighting, so we went through a breeder.

I drove a 2005 toyota with 280k miles until 2 weeks ago, when I switched to a 2016 Acura with 65k miles. Still consider it a frugal purchase as we upgraded to something used and it was an unbelievable deal for the trim package. To some people, upgrading when the old car was just fine goes against frugality, but the difference it made in my quality of life (driving the Toyota was just unpleasant) made it worth it to us. Alternatively, we like doing the small changes of frugality as it helps us save in easy day to day ways. Frugality depends on the person, but I appreciate all the posts!

All of the items are already secondhand, so if they don't want/need it they can just pass it along. The main point is not producing new items, and removing these from the waste stream for even a bit of time. Plus this increases the likelihood they'll be used again. If your loved one doesn't care about baskets, use an alternative like a reused box covered in recycled paper or something, idk man

Most of it it clothing or blankets. The local thrift stores all do a thorough bedbug treatment and sanitation (if you go to goodwill you'll see all bedding and pillows have a sticker certifying their treatment!). And for the most part, I ran it by everyone/they know about my zero waste 2020 commitment. I brought it up around Easter and everyone was excited about it, so I've been collecting items since then! But the majority of items I've nabbed since September. Most of the time I only give items that are like new condition or an interesting vintage piece anyway, so nobody really cares they're secondhand. For example, I got my sister in law a vintage 70s batik gown in perfect condition; I attached a small note card stating it was vintage and the appropriate care information so she would know that I thought carefully about the item.

If I have time, they'll be glammed up! But nobody I'm close to really cares about the over the top Xmas theme, they're all low key swamp yankees. Honestly, I just don't tell them anything. If it doesn't have a goodwill tag and is in like new condition, I just don't say anything! Even items I give new, unless I'm worried about the fit and expect them to exchange it, I take the tags off anyway so nobody would know the difference. But my whole family/set of friends appreciates the zero waste movement and knows I'm committed. This year I asked almost everyone to only give me items that are locally sourced/secondhand to stick with my zero waste for 2020 goal, and informed them I would be trying to do the same for them. Also, I'm in new England too, central ct area. Most of the items are from local benefit stores/benefit tag sales, but the Goodwill's in the area are fairly decent luckily! But that's bc the west hartford/avon/simsbury area is very rich so people donate realllllly good stuff!

Classic chanel was pretty subtle about branding. It's the modern stuff that's more in your face with the logo. This is likely a vintage or a repro of their vintage style (though with tarantino it was prob genuine)

It looks like they raised the price, but I'd say it's still worth it due to ease of cleaning compared to all other boxes. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FDHBM5N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1QwMFbBRSEA1Z?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 The licking thing is totally normal and annoying af for sure when their tongues get sharper lol! If she has a "cuddle mode" where she loves all over you with kisses and purrs, that's a GREAT time to trim nails with the lil scissors (or so I've found). Seconding the giant litter box comments!! We got the "giant flexible pour spout litter box" for about $7 on Amazon and it's better than our super expensive igloo style one. Congrats on your baby!!!
