You think that, but then some stuff starts to become apparent. For example, the windows desktop paradigm is clearly superior. They condense in the taskbar: the top bar, dock, and activity indicator (also spotlight). You don't waste that much screen space. I now cringe when I look at someone full-screen a mac app and losing all that space at the bottom (and a little at the top). Ex-mac-fanboy as I was, I kind of find Windows 10 a better design.

Docker is not isolation. Container processes run under root (!!) on your host machine. And if runc has an exploit like we saw a year ago... oh boy! Docker provides abstraction, not isolation. I would never “uhm, actually” someone but this is a dangerous myth!

I’m balding and kind of doing the same but I also think movies have been very unfair towards wigs. There’s nothing wrong with wearing wigs. It doesn’t make you a fraud or anything. You could have a full set of hair and wear wigs for fun. I think we need to move on.

Hey, Well, they'll pick it up for around USD 80. The process is not going to be painless since they will never pick up the phone the first time you call and they might not even show up the day they said they will (if you don't get a call from the actual pickup company ahead of time, think the worst). Then they'll FedEx a shop credit card instead of refunding the money (even they say they will give the money back at the original source). You'll have to travel there and do a "tender swap" (that's what they call it anyway). It's going to suck, but at the end of the month, and not without having to go to the store again, you'll have your money back (sans USD 80 for pickup and whatever it costs you to got the store to get your money back).

My trip to Japan got me into mech keebs after typing on an ATM. I searched and found they were similar to Topre. Bought a Topre and never looked back. I own two now. Technically not mechanical (rubber dome) but still incredible.

The later will open your default distribution, the former will open what ever diestro you clicked on. You can change the default distro via `wsl —set-default <distro name>` And you can list your distros via `wsl —list` Disclaimer: these command might be slightly off since they come from memory... `wsl help` will tell you all you need.

I personally could never stick to IDEs. I even did Java for a long time and bypassed eclipse (lol). I think it’s just too limiting. I’ve never done Xcode so I can’t tell how easy it is to switch context back to the terminal for git. If you can choose, terminal git is always more future proof

Try adding this in your .vimrc: ``` if &term =~ '256color' " Disable Background Color Erase (BCE) so that color schemes " work properly when Vim is used inside tmux and GNU screen. set t_ut= endif ``` I think BCE is not well supported in the windows terminal.

Hello! I'm about to embark on a DIY project to create a custom pair of windows plugs in hopes of reducing the outside noise. I live in a 1910 brownstone building in Upper East Side (New York) and have an outward-facing room with a pretty large window in it (48 x 82). I've had some trouble catching sleep lately, and decided after some internet research that I should try to build a two-part window plug. My plan is to create two 23 x 81 wooden frames, fill them with fiberglass, wrap them in soundproof blankets and maybe add a handle on each. The plan is to prop them against the window each night to block the light and noise. This will be my first DIY wood project, so I'm looking for some guidance in the following areas: * What's a good program to create a blueprint for the pieces * Will home depot cut the pieces for me or should I do it myself? * I intend to cut the frame sides with an angle so that they make a corner together... how should I secure both ends to make the corner? Again, I'm sorry for the noobness, but I'd really appreciate any guidance or similar construction experiences.

Neat! You can also put yourself at the first character of the first line you want to comment and: C-v (control block) Move down to last line you want to comment I (insert at begging of line) Insert whatever comment chars in the language your using are Esc (and wait for a second) Then it’s commented. It’s quick, natural, and you can choose the comment chars. It also has the benefit of using control block, which will expand your toolset.

Are you behind a proxy? Ping uses ICMP packets, and those don’t care about proxies. You could ping google and be restricted from browsing the site (that goes over TCP), they’re not incompatible.

I’ve sped up by 10-15 wpm. Not much. It depends on the person, but if you’re achieving such a a high rate already, chances are you will gain more by learning the technique. It will be frustrating at first, but you need to love the process and hang in there.

I think you should go for the non free one since your going to install proprietary drivers on it anyway. If your not ethically concerned by non-free software, I wouldn’t bother with the free ISO.

Sometime ago I wanted to do the same. The docs are tricky since it’s JS with C lib bindings (if I recall correctly). I also found it hard to test my changes (in wayland at least). My recommendation is that you search for plugins that do similar things and look at the code. Fork it, modify it, learn. I’m monitoring this thread, I hope to learn some good resources myself. Good luck!

Also, in my experience, what works best for hidpi screens in Linux is font scaling. The easiest way to go about it in Pop (and any GNOME) is to simply enable "large text" from the accessibility menu. I'm not sure how well it works when you plug in a screen though.

Try installing the official Skype snap [https://snapcraft.io/skype](https://snapcraft.io/skype) If you need to install snap too, the full command chain would be: \`\`\` sudo apt update sudo apt install snapd sudo snap install skype \`\`\` That should set you up

In my case, the Boot menu allows me to hit the delete button on my keyboard, and that marks the entry with an x. After F10 (save and reboot) that entry no longer appears for me. This is pretty standard (I'm doing this on a ThinkPad but I've done it on other hardware too).

Hey, This will depend on your computer, but normally, when the computer boots up, you'll see a splash screen with the brand of the device in question. There's usually some text that tells you to "Press F8 to go into Setup", or something of that accord. If no message appears, try the common ones (Esc, F8, F12, F1...) it might help to search on Google for your particular brand and model. Once you get into the BIOS setup utility, you'll need to find a Menu pertaining "Boot" or something like that (each BIOS is a bit different) and it will usually allow you to change the "Boot priority". You can then select your USB thumb drive to have a higher boot priority than your computer's hard drive. This means that, when booting, your computer will first search the USB thumb drive for a bootable OS, then your hard drive. Save the settings and reboot the computer (Usually F10 from the BIOS setup utility) and you should see the Windows installer load. Let me know if that works.
