My partner just came upstairs to tell me that with today’s announcement he’s suddenly eligible for a vaccine. I’m so starved for good news about all this that I started sobbing. So, uh, yeah. I’m a mess.

Peter Mitchell, showrunner and head writer, has said more than once that Violet Hart had nothing to do with Julia’s miscarriage. Julia’s pregnancy was in Violet’s interest, anyway, because it would have gotten her out of the morgue and left room for Violet that much sooner.

I don't have the silver one, but I do have the red -- the body and grip texture are the same. The green really is beautiful, very dark and rich.

Unfortunately, no -- the cap on the green one wobbles a lot less than the cap on my red one, but it's still a bit of an issue. Got the EF nib in both and I love the fine, precise lines that come out of such substantial pens. New one is already full of Diamine Sherwood Green.

It was and is extremely common for LGBTQIA+ people to show and even exaggerate the behaviours that society expects of them, in an attempt to hide what they really feel (often from themselves). Are you familiar with the concept of compulsory heterosexuality?

Peter Mitchell (showrunner, producer, and writer) has made it clear several times that Watts is gay, not bi, and that the fling with Fiona Faust was his own attempt to do what Jack is doing now: to fall in line with the expectations of the time. A year of being with a man who loves him has to have changed the way Watts feels about his own identity and how much he is willing to compromise it, no?

It is definitely covid-related. The active writing for the season was going on in March when the first lockdown happened. They had to wait for that lockdown to be lifted, and then pay an outside consultant a LOT of money to come up with and implement a strict protocol for filming, which I’m sure added to the production time for each episode. The amount of extra work that went in from the whole cast and crew this year was incredible. It sounds like we get a cliffhanger this year, so there’s almost certainly a season 15 on the way. I doubt they can make it any longer than usual, but I sure wouldn’t complain if they did. I’m sad about the short S14 too but also grateful to get any episodes this year at all.

This is a really lovely pen. I’ve converted all my Kaweco Sports to eyedroppers, so the filling mechanism is familiar. Nice wet writer, smooth movement across the page. Great in the hand. Also, as always, great service from Wonder Pens.

Sudden death of her fiancé. Apartment fire where she lost her first novel. Botched elective surgery that left part of her leg paralyzed. Then she died of congestive heart failure. (All the same person.) She was basically Job. Also, she was an incredible human being. I still miss her.

The easiest way to give William a child would be to have his own show up, a kid that Anna Fulford never told him about. Maybe Anna can’t raise the kid anymore, so it’s up to him and Julia. This would avoid the awkwardness of having a baby around, and could lead to some very interesting parent-child dynamics.

I don't have a comprehensive list, but here are a few that really struck me: * The second half of the scene in the park in "The Green Muse," where Julia stops William from taking matters any farther by telling him they need protection * William's hallucination of Julia interrogating him in the interview room about Enid Jones, just after he's been chloroformed in "I, Murdoch" * George's stroll with his newly found mother at the end of "Big Murderer on Campus" * William's vision of his older self and his son digging dinosaurs in the Badlands of Alberta in "Dinosaur Fever"

Beware: the first five seasons are edited, with about three minutes missing from each one. There’s some important character development that’s been cut out, including some crucial moments between William and Julia.

I hate that it ever got as far as it has but I can definitely see it as in character. Julia has always been restless and interested in what’s new, and this is certainly not the first time she’s fallen for a colleague who respects her and her work. First it was Murdoch, and then Darcy, and now Dixon. The thing with Dixon won’t last. It’s irresponsible escapism on her part, and I have faith that she will put things back together with William. Next week’s reality slap should help with that. And I also suspect that this is all a big setup to put her back in the morgue.

I really like them. I've been an occasional visitor at all four of their locations -- one of the current ones is quite close and I always enjoy going in there. Cute, family-run, with great service and very knowledgeable people (and much better prices than another famous Toronto pen shop I could name).

I read a review likening the experience of writing with the 2000 to closing the door of a really nice car like a BMW or a Mercedes. You can’t quite articulate what is different, but there is just this feel that lets you know that this is one of the really nice ones. I got a fine nib, and it’s inked up with Ferris Wheel Press Candy Marsala. The pen writes very wet and the ink gives just gorgeous shading. I am smitten.

The price has gone up just about every year, too. Still doesn’t seem to deter anyone. I believe they donate most if not all of the proceeds. Re income from the apartments: the residential buildings in the area are condos, and thus any rental income goes to the private owners, not to Distillery management.

I read irritation and fear, not attraction, from Julia toward Dixon. He’s a creeper and she has been doing what she can to shut him down without jeopardizing her position at the hospital or awakening William’s jealousy — I think if he knew about Dixon’s advances on his wife, Dixon would not stay so pretty.

Grade seven. For the last five points of a spelling test, my teacher asked us to spell his name. For an extra five points, he asked for the vice-principal’s name. I wrote their last names, spelled correctly. I would have included their first names if I had known them. He marked them both wrong because I hadn’t written “Mr.” in front of each one. I argued that “Mr.” is a title, not a name. He was having none of it. It’s been decades and I’m still peeved.
