I need some red laces for mine! Goes good with the dark oiled leather. I’m gonna go as long as I can without oil and get a nice light brown patina. I always end up over oiling my boots.

Awesome. They make an all leather waterproof one now too. I have the “leather” and “canvas” one, non waterproof. I’m into the “barefoot” shoe thing, it’s good for your feet and body.

Nice man! I did something similar to a pair of danners. The heel was too much for me so I cut it off and made them basically flat soled. You gotta do what you gotta do for a boot that works.

Same thing happened on my danner boots after a couple days of wear. Only the right boot! I waited a month to see if it would even out but I had to send them back. Replacement pair had no issue.

Yo they gave me a free replacement cuz the leather looked like a 90 year old man after a week. Danner is awesome I’ve had a few pairs over the years. The leather quality is top and the craftsmanship is great. If I could change one thing it would be to make it a roomier toe box. Then it would be perfect for me. You’ll have to try them on to know for sure but they have free returns. Just don’t get them dirty or scratched.

Snug is a good way to put it. Definitely not a “roomy” or “anatomical” toe box but my toes aren’t squished. I have narrow feet so it works for me. Once the leather has some miles in it the toe box will stretch to fit my toes better. Cool thing about the lace-to-toe design is as the leather stretches and molds you can adjust the fit with the laces.

Snagged some thorogood 814-4201 8” soft toes for $70 on Mercari!!! So stoked, already broken in by someone else but not worn out. I love thorogood, I used to have the waterproof 8” but these are the unlined ones. I think a size 10 d would fit like a glove, the 10.5ee are a little sloppy with just the thorogood insole. I put another insole on top and threw my homemade kilties in and that snugged them right up. I also got my replacement danner bull run 8” at the same time. Boots for days! I am in love with the leather danner uses, I think it’s the best smelling leather in the game. The bull runs are very light compared to the thorogoods, I intend on actually being a good boy now and rotating my boots to extend the life of each of them. I roof for a living, roofing is hard on boots. I’ve never had a pair last longer than 4 months. Tl;dr I’m stoked got new boots woohoo

Dude nice. Chippewas look like high quality boots, I’ve never tried on a pair. Not a fan of big heels like loggers and most of the Chippewas I’ve seen are loggers. They make a wedge sole boot but it’s a chukka. I’m more of a thorogood 8” wedge or danner bull run 8” wedge guy. But 4 years out of a pair of boots is awesome. Ive never come close, most I ever got was 4-5 months. What do you do for work? I’m a roofer, very hard on footwear.

I don’t like the fit of wolverines. There always seems to be too much room, I like boots to fit snug. Even when I crank the laces there’s room around the top and ankles. Decent quality though and they make some pretty good looking boots. The DualShock 1-90 moc toes are awesome and will last forever. Just uncomfortable on my feet.

There’s lots of boots like them. Cant say I’ve ever seen these specifically. They’re a black 8” cemented sole work boot, there’s probably a hundred boots like them. Carhartt ground force is a nice option. If you’re more into the “tactical” boot look than the “work” boot look then just google 8” tactical boots and pick your price point.

One month in on the Danner Bull Run 8” and I am impressed. I would say the leather has broken in, they definitely feel formed to my feet. And you can’t go wrong with a wedge sole imho. One thing I’d like is a wider toe box. The last Danner uses comes to a point in the middle of the boot. Feet aren’t that shape. I tend to like the “anatomically” shaped boots like Vivo or Lems Boulder boot but I’m a sucker for a thick leather wedge sole work boot. Just got some leather laces and it really transformed the look, looks a lot more...mature? Idk how to describe it. Heritage? Old school? Either way it tickles my fancy and I like the way leather laces look and feel. I hear Danner is coming out with an 8” moc toe Bull Run sometime this year 🤤

You can get some adhesive toe caps to cover up the broken leather.

Keep them, the leather looks awesome. Get some leather conditioner and hydrate that dry leather. Every worn pair of boots has some cuts.
